VOICE OVER: Lisa Yang WRITTEN BY: Savannah Sher
The Oscars may get all the glory, but the stars shine just as bright on this red carpet. For this list, we're looking at the most gorgeous and memorable gowns and outfits ever worn at the SAG Awards. Our list includes Lupita Nyong'o, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston, Amy Adams, Diane Kruge, and more! Join MsMojo as we count down our picks for the Top 10 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards Looks of All Time.

#10: Janelle Monáe (2017)

This may be a more recent outfit, but we have a feeling it will stand the test of time. Janelle Monáe has been impressing us on screen and on the red carpet for years now, but this look from 2017 is definitely a standout. It was the actress’ first time being nominated but she was actually honored twice that night, for both “Moonlight” and “Hidden Figures”. She was dressed in an elaborate Chanel ensemble, which included hair pieces by the design house as well. She looked youthful yet stylish in the floral embellished outfit. Her makeup artist, Jessica Smalls, finished the look with a slightly metallic mauve lip color for maximum impact.

#9: Lupita Nyong'o (2014)

This was a truly showstopping piece that we couldn’t imagine being worn by anyone else. The teal blue Gucci gown that Lupita Nyong'o wore at the 2014 SAG awards was mostly simple and streamlined, save for the elaborate neckline which was constructed with delicate floral pieces. Matching your eyeshadow to your gown isn’t always advisable, but she managed to pull it off with style, looking both modern and slightly edgy. That night she not only took home the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role, but also made it on to many best dressed lists. The silvery gown she wore in 2018 was also stunning.

#8: Nicole Kidman (2017)

Nicole Kidman is known for her classic and elegant style, but every once in a while she makes an outfit choice that’s totally outside the box. Such was the case when she walked the SAG Awards red carpet in 2017 after being nominated for her role in “Lion”. The gown was designed by Gucci, and was made from a fabulous emerald green sequined fabric. On each shoulder was an embellished parrot, and the short sleeves had a feather effect. The description may sound crazy, but the end result was a total knockout.

#7: Jennifer Aniston (2003)

It was a simpler time in 2003 when “Friends” had just come to an end and celebs were dressing more casually on the SAG Awards red carpet. Despite the changes in the times, the bold gown that Jennifer Aniston sported for this event has become timeless. She was nominated for two awards that night, and appeared on the red carpet alongside her real life friend and co-star Courtney Cox. She took a risk with this dress which featured a revealing double cutout, yet still managed to look laidback and carefree. The green gown she wore in 2015 had a similar vibe.

#6: Taraji P. Henson (2017)

The 2017 SAG Awards were a big night for Taraji P. Henson, because her movie, “Hidden Figures”, took home the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Not only that, she was also one of the best dressed celebs of the night, walking the red carpet in a breathtaking Reem Acra gown. The dress was in an A-line ball gown silhouette and featured a mostly sheer bodice, with the end result being that Henson looked like a bold and powerful modern day princess.

#5: Amy Adams (2014)

As her acting career has become more prolific, Amy Adams has continued to consistently stun on the red carpet. She typically sticks to simple figure hugging silhouettes and basic primary colors, and she always does it well. Her best SAG Awards look definitely came in 2014 when she was nominated in the category of Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for “American Hustle”. She took home a statue, and looked incredible doing it, in an asymmetrical Antonio Berardi gown with a royal blue hue.

#4: Kate Hudson (2010)

Top 10 Iconic Mary-Kate & Ashley Fashion Moments

It’s not often that you see a garment on the red carpet that has a silhouette unlike anything you’ve ever seen before, but the gown Kate Hudson wore in 2010 seemed wholly unique. The white Pucci dress was floor length and featured long sleeves and a boat neckline, but it was anything but modest. The entire back was open, and plunged about as low as you can go. Though the front of the dress was pretty, it was all about the back angle, and Hudson knew exactly how to work it on the red carpet.

#3: Catherine Zeta-Jones (2004)

A dress needn’t be groundbreaking to go down in history; a simple outfit (worn right) can go on to become one of the best red carpet outfits of all time; and this is one of them. Catherine Zeta-Jones always looks like a total bombshell but she really pulled out all the stops when she appeared at this event in 2004. Her gold gown was designed by Elie Saab and features a strapless neckline and a figure hugging silhouette that perfectly shows off the actress’ famous curves. The draping of the dress only makes it more flattering!

#2: Diane Kruger (2010)

Some blondes have a hard time pulling off yellow tones (especially on the red carpet), but clearly this isn’t a problem for Diane Kruger. She managed to look both classic and modern in this marigold colored gown by Jason Wu. She was nominated that year for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her work in “Inglorious Basterds”. The asymmetrical style of the dress was aesthetically interesting, and the construction was expertly executed. And to top it all off, her red lip really made the entire look pop. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. Thandie Newton (2017) Yara Shahidi (2018) America Ferrera (2007)

#1: Brie Larson (2016)

Brie Larson was the talk of the evening at the 2016 SAG Awards when she took home the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her work in the film “Room”. The dress she wore for the occasion was designed by Versace and was made from a light blue fabric that was admittedly a somewhat unusual color to see on the red carpet, but it made her stand out from her peers in the best possible way. The gown featured complex asymmetrical draping and a thigh high slit, which made it feel just a tough edgy - and totally iconic.
