Top 10 Movie Assassins

Top 10 Movie Assassins
VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton
These are the greatest fictional movie hit men. The best at what they do, they stand out among the competition, where it be for their charisma, sense of honor, ability to tag team, or unstoppable nature. Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we count down our top 10 favorite movie assassins. Just to keep things fair, we're not including the wildly outrageous henchmen-types from the James Bond series, or anything supernatural, like chicks with the ability to bend bullets.

#10 – The Jackal: “The Day of the Jackal” (1973)

Kicking off our list is the extremely careful and meticulous assassin contracted by a French terrorist group to kill the President of France. The Jackal is a hitman who carries out his work in an especially calculating manner, operating like a ghost. This means no one knows who he really is, his modus operandi, or when he’ll strike. As a result, he commands a hefty fee.

#9 – Ghost Dog: “Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai” (1999)

Speaking of ghosts, Forest Whitaker plays a hitman who lives entirely off the grid, and goes so far as to communicate with carrier pigeons! Self-taught and obsessed with the code of the samurai, he pledges his undying loyalty to a crime boss, putting honor ahead of self-interest. The only man this loner thinks of as a friend is a French-speaking Haitian who sells ice cream in the park.

#8 – Sgt. Raymond Shaw: “The Manchurian Candidate” (1962)

He is the son of a prominent U.S. political family who ends up an unsuspecting sleeper agent after some Cold War era Communist brainwashing. A guiltless killer who is subconsciously activated, he is so covert even he doesn’t remember his own actions. Think you’ve seen a similar character? You’re probably thinking of Derek Zoolander….

#7 – Vincent: “Collateral” (2004)

A silver haired Tom Cruise plays this contract killer, who hires a cabbie to drive him to his five hits. A seemingly polite, calm and collected customer, he only shows his true colors when he is inadvertently forced to involve the cabbie in his affairs. We love Vincent, mostly because of how ruthless and deep he actually is!

#6 – Jules & Vincent: “Pulp Fiction” (1994)

Samuel L. Jackson plays Jules, an extremely cool, foul-mouthed bible thumper with a Jheri curl. His equally well-dressed partner is John Travolta’s Vincent, a talkative and reflective killer with dance cred. Together, they carry out the orders of a gangster, while philosophizing, joking, and driving between hits. These killers also like to use friendly banter to give targets a false sense of safety.

#5 – Leon: “Leon: The Professional” (1994)

This hitman, or “cleaner” as he prefers to be called, is handed his assignments by the mafia. When he’s not on the job, he takes care of a houseplant, which he considers his only friend, and enjoys Gene Kelly musicals. After saving a recently orphaned girl, he mentors her to follow in his footsteps in order to seek revenge. Yes, this makes him one heck of an unconventional protagonist…

#4 – Jason Bourne: “The Bourne Trilogy” (2002-2007)

This former army captain was retrained as a CIA assassin. Educated in various martial arts, he ends up with amnesia and on the run from his former employers. What makes Matt Damon’s assassin stand out is how resourceful and quick thinking he is. He will drive any vehicle at his disposal, create weapons from nothing, and proficiently make do with any firearm he can get his hands on.

#3 – Beatrix Kiddo, a.k.a. The Bride/Black Mamba: “Kill Bill” (2003)

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. This ex-member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad was left for dead, but she survived and made herself a hit list of all her former teammates. Equipped with a fondness Bruce Lee’s yellow jumpsuit, this relentless and tough-as-nails assassin uses her mastery of Kung Fu and swordplay to violently dispatch her prey.

#2 – Anton Chigurh: “No Country for Old Men” (2007)

What makes this unstoppable hitman different from the others? He’s a mentally unhinged killer who indiscriminately kills almost everyone he comes across; save for the lucky few who win a coin toss. A man without compassion or any sense of remorse, this psychopathic killer makes use of a cattle gun to kill prey and open doors. Yes, that’s the same device used to kill livestock.

#1 – T-800: “The Terminator” (1984)

Taking the top spot on our list is the cyborg assassin that’s sent back from the future to kill the mother of the leader of the human resistance. While using a phone book to track her down, this machine demonstrates the most emotionless, efficient and unstoppable killer instincts ever to grace the silver screen. This model even takes out the frighteningly more advanced T-1000 model, which really says something...
