VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton
It's a bird, it's a plane, it's... One of these guys. Whether they're using a broom, an umbrella, magic dust, a specially-engineered armored suit or a simple superpower, there are a few film fly-boys (and girls) who stand out above the rest – literally. Are there any movie characters who make you wish you could fly through the air with the greatest of ease? In this video, http://www.WatchMojo.com counts down our picks for the top 10 movie characters that can fly.

Special thanks to our user Daniel John for submitting the idea on our Suggestions Page at WatchMojo.comsuggest

#10: Aladdin’s Magic Carpet

Found in the Cave of Wonders by the street-rat and his monkey pal Abu; there’s more to this Persian rug than meets the eye. With a personality all its own, and the ability to journey through the Arabian night sky, Carpet is a good friend and an even better mode of transportation – whether Al and friends are planning a quick escape or to see a whole new world.

#9: Storm

When you control the weather, do you need other powers? Probably not, but this member of the X-Men also has the inborn power of flight, which she uses to enhance her already-formidable domination over all things meteorological. Soaring along on wind currents, she can move herself or others as far as the skies will take her. And sometimes, just sometimes, she’ll use her gift to help save the day.

#8: Hancock

Just ‘cause you got superpowers doesn’t mean you’re a goodie-goodie, or that you’re immune to weakness. Despite his immortality, super-strength, invulnerability and – of course – capability of flight, John Hancock is a drunk, plain and simple, and that definitely cramps his style when it comes to fighting crime and other crises. By which we mean, it gets really, really expensive. Friends don’t let friends fly drunk.

#7: Mary Poppins

It’s not just the kites that fly in her world. The planet’s greatest nanny is practically perfect in every way, and she drops in on troubled families aided by her magical umbrella. Just until the wind changes, Mary uses her bottomless carpetbag, her kind disposition and her silly songs and catch-words to turn the Bankses around, before taking to the skies once more.

#6: Harry Potter

In his wizarding world, the broom is one of the best ways to get from point-A to point-B. We mean, look how filthy you get while traveling by Floo powder. And you can’t always expect to find a Portkey lying around. But, not only is a bewitched broomstick a fantastic way to see the sights, it’s also the only way to play Quidditch – something Harry is particularly good at.

#5: Peter Pan

Who needs wings when you’ve got happy thoughts, faith, trust and pixie dust? With Tinkerbell by his side, the boy who never grows up uses his special skills and mischievous nature to lead the Lost Boys, befriend Indian girls and fight pirates. And if he ever needs to find his way back to Neverland, it’s the “second star to the right, and straight on till morning.”

#4: Neo

The innate ability to manipulate simulated reality can imbue you with every cool talent in the book. So it stands to reason Neo would choose to sonic boom his way through the artificial air of the Matrix –wouldn’t you? With sheer determination and a healthy dash of telekinesis, Neo wills himself to soar super-fast, jump really high, fight kung-fu and do that cool thing with the bullets.

#3: Buzz Lightyear

This intergalactic space ranger dreams big, and never lets anyone or anything stand in his way – not even gravity. Equipped with a futuristic, winged spacesuit with enough buttons and gizmos to boggle the mind, Buzz activates his flying gear by way of a big red button. Though we can’t decide if what he does is actually flying, Mr. Lightyear reminds us that anything’s possible – even when you’re a toy.

#2: Iron Man

Billionaire-industrialist-playboy-philanthropist Tony Stark has no special powers – except a brilliant mind. He uses his genius to build an armored suit that’ll do just about anything – even fly. With enough thrust to break the sound barrier and outrun fighter jets, that suit could be deadly in the wrong hands. But of course, Iron Man puts his powers to good use, saving the day when necessary, and having fun when possible.

#1: Superman

Top 10 Superman Movie Trivia

He’s faster than a speeding bullet; leaps tall buildings in a single bound, and stands for truth, justice and the American way – but Superman is also the most iconic fly-boy in pop-culture history. Thanks to Earth’s weak gravitation pull, Supe can take to the skies. But he’s a good-guy, so the Man of Steel uses his powers to save damsels, chase rockets and even turn back time.
