Top 10 Movie Moments That Made Us Love Chris Pine

Everyone loves a good love triangle. And while this romantic comedy might not have made a splash with critics, it does give us some pretty great Chris Pine moments, along with one of his more recent – and last – lead romantic comedy roles. The film follows CIA agents – and best buds – played by Chris Pine and Tom Hardy who find out they’re going out with the same woman, played by Reese Witherspoon. The film is filled with boring tropes and unbecoming behavior, to say the least – the agents bug Reese Witherspoons’ home and spy on her throughout the movie – but Pine does prove an effective male lead! We just hope he gets a better movie to show it off in next time.

If you watched “Mean Girls” back in the day, you might remember this rom-com that features Chris Pine as the music manager for the band “Mcfly”. Unlike Lindsay Lohan’s character Ashley, Jake can never seem to catch a lucky break in life. But their fates are suddenly switched when they kiss at a masquerade ball, sending Ashley into a series of unfortunate mishaps. After she has a breakdown in a diner, the two become friends, and their luck switches hands a few more times. We all know Lindsay Lohan was the really lucky one here though, as she would be one of the first to lock lips with the handsome star. Can Chris please do more rom-coms soon?

Tony Scott’s last directed film is a smashing good time – and a lot of that has to do with the actors at its center. “Unstoppable” stars Chris Pine and Denzel Washington as two men trying to stop a runaway train from wreaking havoc. The men begin at odds, but then start to work together – all the while having incredible chemistry with each other. Rising to Denzel Washington’s level would be difficult for any actor. He’s – well, Denzel. But Pine holds his own throughout this non-stop – no pun intended – action thrill ride.

When you take on the character of Jack Ryan, you’re pitting yourself against a lot of the greats. The famed Tom Clancy character has been portrayed by the likes of Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and more recently, John Krasinski. But you may have forgotten that our beloved Chris Pine got his own run at the character in 2014’s “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.” While this film might not be the most well-remembered of the Jack Ryan franchise, Pine proved well-suited to playing the analyst turned field agent – the perfect amount of smarts and quick thinking paired with the feeling that he’s a bit out of his comfort zone.

By the time “Into the Spider-Verse” came out, Chris Pine was coming off the success of 2017’s “Wonder Woman.” So, having proved he works well in big, blockbuster, superhero films, it’s interesting that his role in this beloved superhero movie is quite a bit smaller. Pine voices Peter Parker – AKA Spider-Man – in Miles Morales’ universe. That may sound like he’s the star, but this version of Spider-Man dies quite early on in the film, leaving the mantle to Miles. It may seem like a tiny part for a movie star to take, but in hindsight, it’s hard to imagine anyone voicing this version of Peter but Pine – even if it’s only for a short while.

We hope this entry brings you some peace. Once again, we see Pine going toe-to-toe with a veteran actor – and proving he’s got the chops to do it. “Hell or High Water” stars Pine as Toby Howard, a bank robber who, along with his brother, is on the run from the police. Jeff Bridges – the aforementioned veteran actor – plays one of the Texas Rangers after the pair. The whole film is a harrowing, modern take on a Western, but the final scene – which pits Bridges and Pine against each other in an expertly-written war of words – is an Oscar-reel moment for Pine. It’s hard to believe he didn’t even get an Academy nom for this role, but we’ll always remember it fondly.

For many of us, our first introduction to Chris Pine as a romantic interest was in the second installment of “The Princess Diaries” series – and makes sense, as it was also his feature film debut. While we absolutely miss Michael from the first movie – we love you, we’ll never forget you – we have to admit Chris Pine is pretty swoon-worthy as Lord Nicholas Devereaux, a suitor after Princess Mia’s heart. While we love the banter between Nicholas and Mia on the staircase, our favorite moment has to be Nicholas’ desperate attempt to get to Mia’s wedding – first by bike, and then by horse. Giddy up, Chris!

He’s handsome, he’s funny, he can act, he can – sing? When Chris Pine was cast as Cinderella’s Prince in the film version of “Into the Woods,” he definitely looked the part, but some fans were left wondering if his singing voice would be up to snuff. And let us just say, we were pleasantly surprised! Along with Billy Magnussen as Rapunzel’s Prince, Pine sings the song “Agony” – a funny, pompous tune where he wonders how any woman could possibly not love him – with just the right bit of humor and sincerity. And he also sounds great – seriously, is there anything this man can’t do?

Taking on a beloved character is always a difficult task, but with the Star Trek’s franchises’ reboot, Chris Pine proved he was up to the task as Captain Kirk. Pine played Kirk as brash, charming and charismatic – all on display when we first meet him in the bar in the first installment – but he really shines when he gets to play up the emotional parts of the character. Most notably, that’d be the time Captain Kirk sacrificed himself to save the Enterprise in “Star Trek: Into Darkness.” For such a blockbuster series, the moment just before Kirk’s death is quiet. As he reveals to Zachary Quinto’s Spock how frightened he is, Kirk’s humanity shines through in a lovely way – all thanks to Pine’s performance.

While we always knew Chris Pine was a heartthrob, you’d be hard-pressed to find a film where he’s a more charming romantic lead than “Wonder Woman.” He’s marvelous in so many sequences – his heart-wrenching sacrifice at the end of the film certainly comes to mind – but we had to go with the boat scene. Chris Pine has such electric chemistry with co-star Gal Gadot throughout the movie, but this scene has everything that makes their relationship great – humor, a little bit of awkwardness, some flirtation, and an obvious physical attraction. [“I’ll sleep with you if you want, I’ll sleep right there!”] Chris, you don’t have to tell us twice.
