It’s every girl’s dream to be a princess, right? Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Movie Princesses.

#10: Neytiri
“Avatar” (2009)

As a tall, blue-skinned Na’vi, Neytiri is definitely one of the more unusual film royals. The clan leader’s daughter, she’s one of the few willing to try and broker piece between her people and the human race on Pandora. Neytiri isn’t afraid to follow her heart and trust her instincts, which leads her to fall in love with human Jake Sully. She’s also a kind-hearted and fierce warrior that teaches him her people’s ways.

#9: Snow White
“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” (1937)

Thanks to her raven hair, red lips, and creamy white skin, it was only a matter of time before “the fairest in the land” caught Prince Charming’s eye. In addition to being the picture of beauty, Snow White is also one of the kindest souls ever created. This is demonstrated by her natural penchant to mother animals and how she takes care of a house full of rambunctious dwarfs.

#8: Buttercup
“The Princess Bride” (1987)

Not one to wait around for a prince to save her, Buttercup is full of life and adventure. At least, until she comes to believe that her true love, the simple farmhand Westley, is dead and agrees to marry Prince Humperdinck. Things get complicated when she’s kidnapped and discovers Westley has become the Dread Pirate Roberts. Willing to risk it all for love and freedom, she uses her gut to guide her.

#7: Jasmine
“Aladdin” (1992)

Princesses are usually known for their ladylike and reserved behavior but Jasmine breaks that mold: she’s sassy and has a bit of an attitude but it’s never without good reason. Once her walls are broken down, Jasmine shows she’s the most loyal and trustworthy girl out there. And she’s able to see past Aladdin’s poor origins as a “street rat” and recognize him for the prince he truly is.

#6: Éowyn
“The Lord of the Rings” franchise (2001-03)

Perhaps one of the most misunderstood ladies on our list, Éowyn longed for the opportunity to help her people by fighting in battle. Not willing to sit along the sidelines with the other women, she takes matters into her own hands and proves herself an asset. Her duties as a soldier don’t stop her from longing for love though, as she harbors quite the unrequited crush on Aragorn. She may not have claimed the man, but she’s still able to smite the Witch-king of Angmar.

#5: Ariel
“The Little Mermaid” (1989)

Everyone claims they want the life of a princess but Ariel longs for true love and happiness above all. As a mermaid, all Ariel wants is to be human and walk on the land. After rescuing Prince Eric, this princess proves she’s not afraid to go after what she wants, even if that means sacrificing part of herself. She may come off as a bit young and misguided but thanks to her determination and faith, Ariel ultimately gets everything she dreams of.

#4: Rapunzel
“Tangled” (2010)

In this Disney adaptation of the German fairy tale, Rapunzel is more than just a chick that needs a haircut: she’s brave, has a clear sense of right and wrong, and longs to see the world. Rapunzel also has the powers to heal and reverse aging, which makes her Mother Gothel’s target. Armed with a frying pan and sense of adventure, she doesn’t wait for anyone. And did we mention her hair is magic and glows when she sings?

#3: Cinderella
“Cinderella” (1950)

It’s easy to think of Cinderella as a victim, especially when she has an evil stepmother who virtually enslaves her. Despite her servitude, Cinderella manages to have a positive attitude in the face of adversity. Her positivity and kindness to animals show she’s a true princess even before she gets the prince. She’s the original happily ever after and she clearly deserves it.

#2: Princess Fiona
“Shrek” franchise (2001-10)

Ladies never tell their secrets but no one would exactly call Fiona “a lady.” What we would call her is funny, kind-hearted, and down-to-earth. Human during the day and ogre at night, Fiona is cursed until she finds her true love. But don’t think she sits around waiting for love to come to her. Instead, Fiona takes charge of her own fate and proves she’s someone we all could learn from. She’s also a wicked fighter who isn’t hung up on looks.

Before we crown our number one pick, here are a few honorable mentions:
- Danielle “Ever After” (1998)
- Anna “Frozen” (2013)
- Merida “Brave” (2012)

#1: Princess Leia
“Star Wars” franchise (1977-)

Known for her iconic hairdo and gold bikini, this confident princess is quite handy with a blaster. Though she’s known as one of the most beautiful women in the galaxy, Princess Leia is equally known for her combat duties. The sharpshooter is feisty, self-assured, and a capable adversary to her foes. She further proves she’s more than just a pretty face when she personally helps bring down the entire Empire.
