#10: “Pills n Potions”
The Pinkprint (2014)

Hyping up her third album release, Nicki Minaj released this gentle R&B ballad as the lead single. The blueprint for this Pinkprint track was elegantly stripped down, as Nicki shows off her vocal skills before delivering a lyrical whoopin’ on all those who doubted her, specifically an ex-flame. By stepping back from her usual gonzo rhyming style, Nicki Minaj offered fans something fresh – musically and visually. The minimalistic video highlighted the artist’s natural beauty along with The Game and his healthy beard. At the end of the day, “Pills n Potions” silenced critics and shed new light on the artist.

#9: “Fly” feat. Rihanna
Pink Friday (2010)

For the eighth – yes EIGHTH – single from her debut album, Nicki Minaj collaborated with Rihanna for an inspirational track about soaring above all the BS. Lyrically, the featured guest kicks things off with a flighty chorus, and then Ms. Minaj steps in to explain why she often feels like Neo from “The Matrix.” With Rihanna from Barbados and Nicki originally from Trinidad, the two island-born musicians walked triumphantly through a post-apocalyptic world in the striking music video. “Fly” undoubtedly symbolizes female empowerment, but its heart-felt message can be applied to everyone.

#8: “Your Love”
Pink Friday (2010)

As the lead single from Nicki Minaj’s debut album, this joint heavily samples Annie Lennox’s cover of the 1986 song “No More I Love You’s”. The lyrics express Nicki’s pure devotion to her man, and she takes it ALL the way back to Adam and Eve in order to make her point remarkably clear. In the colorful music video, Minaj plays a warrior-in-training only to find herself struck down by the long sword of love. The plot was tragic, but the song is nothing but hip-hop magic.

#7: “Roman’s Revenge” feat. Eminem
Pink Friday (2010)

You heard the woman: she ain’t Jasmine – she’s ALADDIN. So, what does that even mean, you ask? Well, it means that you don’t want to mess with Nicki Minaj. Produced by Swiss Beatz, “Roman’s Revenge” takes the listener on a chaotic journey through fantasy land, as both Nicki Minaj and Eminem takes on their alter egos – Roman Zolanski and Slim Shady – while spouting off about how they can pretty much do whatever the F they want. Many interpret this song as an attack towards fellow female rapper Lil’ Kim, as critics have described the song as just plain “bonkers”.

#6: “Va Va Voom”
Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (2012)

Nicki Minaj was firing on all cylinders for this saucy number about sexual attraction. Right from the jump, “Va Va Voom” contains double-entendre lyrics, as Nicki lets it be known that she’s about to get some lovin’ regardless of the circumstances. With an infectious beat and magnetic chorus, this track further established Nicki Minaj as a pop-rap crossover sensation, while the stylish video directed by Hype Williams zeroed in on the rapper’s provocative nature. “Va Va Voom” continues to be a party-starter from coast to coast.

#5: “Anaconda”
The Pinkprint (2014)

This bootylicious production broke Vevo’s 24-hour streaming record with almost 20 million views and remains Nicki Minaj’s highest-charted billboard hit. Through a brilliant sampling of Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back,” “Anaconda” embraced the shape and size of Nicki’s backside and featured controversial lyrics about enjoying a little sexual healing. Earning a Grammy nomination and receiving extremely positive reviews from critics, Nicki continued her rise to music superstardom with this hip hop hit.

#4: “Moment 4 Life” feat. Drake
Pink Friday (2010)

Thematically, this Young Money collaboration is about two childhood friends achieving their dreams, and lyrically, “Moment 4 Life” has Nicki Minaj and Drake doing what they do best: spittin’ fiya!. Minaj starts the track by laying down that she will always be true to her roots, followed by Drizzy getting busy like he always does. The song established the duo as a force to be reckoned with, and the fairy-tale music video allowed Nicki Minaj to bask in the glory of her fashionista persona. All good things typically come to an end, but we’ll have this Nicki Minaj joint for LIFE.

#3: “Pound the Alarm”
Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (2012)

This dance-friendly song had Nick Minaj exclaiming that she’s a bad, bad girl and will get up all in your business on the dance floor. Given the sensational Eurodance beat, it’s no wonder that international fans demanded “Pound the Alarm” as the rapper’s next single after an online poll. What a way to kick off the summer of 2012. For the music video, Minaj returned to her native Trinidad and fully embraced the carnival stylings for a most flamboyant appearance. Pound the alarm and take in the undeniable Nicki Minaj charm.

#2: “Starships”
Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (2012)

As one of the best-selling singles of all-time, this monster hit transformed Nicki Minaj into an international star. Ok, the hard-core fans of the rapper didn’t necessarily buy into the poppy production, however by exploring a different sound, Minaj reached new fans around the world. And everyone can relate to a party anthem, right? As if the chorus wasn’t memorable enough, Nicki flaunted her curvy bikini body in the visually rich music video. The title is otherworldly, and the song itself definitely surpassed all expectations.

#1: “Super Bass”
Pink Friday (2010)

She’s all about that booty and all about that bass. With this booming track, Nicki Minaj gave a shout-out to all her fly fellas and combined her usual playful lyrics with a Barbie-themed music video. Truly a girly-girl production, “Super Bass’”s music video features some eye candy for everyone and showcases some of Minaj’s most colourful visuals. All it takes is one listen to be overcome by the Nicki Minaj flavor, and it shows, as the song hit number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is certified multi-platinum.
