Top 10 Predictions For RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars 3

Top 10 Predictions For RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars 3
VOICE OVER: Lisa Yang
Script written by Hannah Collins

Honey honey honey! Season 3 of All Stars can't come any sooner. Let's get our predictions on shall we? Cam we all agree that Most Improved queens are Morgan McMichaels and Shangela? That the best reads (especially when the library is open) will go to Shangela, Aja and Trixie Mattel? How about the strongest competitor in the acting/singing challenges? We think it'l be Trixie Mattel and BenDeLaCreme. As for who we think the 10th queen will be…. The dream queen would be Katya because we'd love to see anything she appears in. However, the most realistic prediciton would be Kimchi.

#10: Most Improved
Morgan McMichaels and Shangela

“All Stars” has become a great platform for queens who appeared on earlier seasons of “Drag Race” to show how much they’ve evolved. In Season 2, this crown - if there was one - was undoubtedly snatched by contestant Tatiana. Hoping to follow in her kitten heels will be her fellow Season Two-ers, Morgan and Shangela, and both have a lot to brag about. “All Stars” 3 will be Shangela’s herstory-making third time competing, and she’s also since become an accomplished actor. Morgan, meanwhile, appeared in Rihanna’s “S&M” music video, and Lady Gaga’s lyric video for “Applause” along with Shangela. The stage is set for a double comeback story.

#9: Best Reads, Especially When The Library Is Open
Shangela, Aja and Trixie Mattel

Say it with us now: reading is what? Fundamental! In the grand tradition of “Paris Is Burning,” queens reading each other for filth has become a “Drag Race” staple. And they don’t need to wait until the library is open to do it. As Shangela and Aja proved in their seasons, some of the most iconic reads on the show have taken place backstage on “Untucked”. Shangela gave it to Mimi Imfurst as good as she got in Season 3, while Aja’s bitterness towards Valentina produced one of the show’s most quotable clapbacks. But, when it comes to outright savagery, Trixie’s sharp tongue never stops slaying, especially online.

#8: Strongest Competitor In The Acting/Singing Challenges
Trixie Mattel/BenDeLaCreme

The acting and singing challenges are where queens are made or broken. Out of all the returning queens for the new season, BenDeLa and Trixie could be the biggest threats when it comes to hamming up a performance or belting out a tune. After a shock elimination in Season 7, Trixie clawed her way back just in time to more than hold her own against Ginger in the John Waters challenge. She also surprised everyone in 2017 by releasing critically-acclaimed country music. Trixie has serious competition from BenDeLa though, who showed off her broadway chops in “Shade: The Rusical”.

#7: Comedy Queen
Trixie Mattel/Thorgy Thor

Back in Season 7, Trixie gave us plenty of the “plastic fantastic” Barbie realness that she’s known for. But, when it came to comedy, we really only got a small percentage of what she can do. Nowadays, Trixie has blossomed into a fully-fledged stand-up star with her one woman shows, and rose to even greater fame thanks to her surreal, comedy talk show with Katya on YouTube. But, with no Bob The Drag Queen to contend with, the kooky queen of Season 8, Thorgy Thor, is also a strong contender. Though she may sometimes have too many ideas for her own good, her quick wit and wacky sense of humor mean she shouldn’t be underestimated.

#6: Snatch Game Winner
BenDeLaCreme

Of all the challenges in “Drag Race”, the Snatch Game is the one everyone is hungry to win. Since debuting in Season 2, it’s always expected to be the highlight of the show, so every queen is also expected to bring her A-game. When BenDeLaCreme decided on the left field choice of “Downton Abbey” Dowager Countess Violet Crawley, she seemed destined to fail in Season Six. But, like Jinx Monsoon’s Little Edie in the previous season, BenDeLa’s risk paid off brilliantly. This puts big pressure on the campy queen to deliver another winning performance in “All Stars,” but the odds of her defending the title seem in her favor.

#5: Best Runway Looks
BenDeLaCreme, Trixie Mattel and Milk
Be they fishy, quirky, couture, or hilarious, sickening runway looks are a must, and Ru always expects the best every single week. Of all the returning queens, BenDeLa, Trixie and Milk delivered the most memorable and entertaining fashion on their respective seasons. BeDeLa proved she can work miracles with a hot glue gun, Trixie managed to channel her unique style of drag into everything she wore, and Milk… Well, there’s no-one quite like Milk. From sporting a beard to daringly dressing as Ru out of drag, Milk’s reputation for avant-garde fashion has earned her high profile modeling jobs beyond just the “Drag Race” runway.

#4: Strongest Lip Sync-er
Chi Chi DeVayne/Kennedy Davenport/Morgan McMichaels

When it comes down to it, “Drag Race” is all about the lip syncing. Time and time again, queens who repeatedly botch challenges survive on the strength of their lip syncs alone. While we don’t yet know if the contestants will be lip syncing for their lives or legacies, there are three who proved themselves lip sync assassins in their respective seasons. RuPaul told Morgan McMichaels her lip sync against Sonique was the tightest she’d seen in Season Two. In Season 7, Kennedy Davenport’s “Roar” was too much for fan favorite Katya, while Chi Chi DeVayne flipped, kicked and poured her heart and soul into all of her lips syncs in Season 8.

#3: Top Three
Trixie Mattel, Chi Chi DeVayne and Shangela

Even if you don’t win, making it into the coveted Top Three or Four of “Drag Race” is still a worthy achievement. In “All Stars” 2, the Top Four didn’t exactly look how most fans - or contestants, for that matter - would have liked. For the upcoming season, it’s likely the final cut of queens will also be full of surprises. While BenDeLa and Milk would be strong predictions, it’s more likely that we’ll see a Top Three with more variety. Trixie is a good all-rounder with polished looks and performance skills; Chi Chi’s high energy lips syncing will probably see her through to the end; and Shangela is the wildcard.

#2: 10th Queen Prediction/Dream 10th Queen
Kim Chi/Katya

RuPaul got the fans going when he “accidentally” said that all “10” queens had been Ru-vealed for “All Stars” 3 during the VH1 special, rather than nine. Since then, Internet detectives have been frantically digging through Reddit and Twitter for clues as to who the mystery queen will be. While BeBe Zahara Benet, Darienne Lake, Adore Delano, Nina Bo’Nina Brown and even Cynthia Lee Fontaine’s names have come up, most fans are desperate to see “All Stars” 2 favorite, Katya, return. While seeing #JusticeForKatya happen would be a dream come true, Season 8’s creative powerhouse Kim Chi seems like a more realistic pick for the final contestant spot. The season premiere can’t come soon enough!

#1: Who’s Going To Snatch The Crown/Miss Congeniality
Trixie Mattel #teamtrixie/BenDeLaCreme

With a cast of legendary and seasoned queens, the competition in “All Stars” is always fierce. They’ve done it all and seen it all before, and with new confidence - and a suitcase full of new wigs - there’s hardly any room for error. While we might not know who the mystery tenth queen is yet, based on the nine queens currently in the running, we think Trixie is headed for victory. She’s gone from strength to strength since Season 7, from killing it in her web series with Katya to becoming, as we mentioned, an unlikely country music star. As for Miss Congeniality, we think BenDeLa’s goofy charm will see her through, as it did in Season Six.
