Top 10 Rekindled Celebrity Romances
This list may prove that feelings that come back are feelings that never left. Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the top 10 rekindled celebrity romances.
For this list, we’re looking at high-profile couples that got together, broke up, but then found their way back into each other's arms.
#10: Johnny McDaid & Courteney Cox
She’s most widely recognized for her role as Monica Geller on the television show “Friends.” He’s best known as a member of the bands Snow Patrol and Vega4. Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid found each other in 2013, and the happy couple got along so well together that they became engaged the following year. Sadly, the couple broke off their engagement in 2015 and spent months apart before realizing they were meant to be. Although she lives in California and he lives in England, Cox says their relationship is better than ever now that they’re long-distance dating and no longer engaged.
#9: Gregg Leakes & NeNe Leakes
Although she’s also done a one-woman comedy tour, launched a fashion line, and co-written a novel, you probably best know this television personality from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” After she got hitched with husband Gregg in 1997, things turned rocky for the couple. NeNe claimed that Gregg wasn’t treating her the way she wanted to be treated, while Gregg felt that fame had gone to NeNe’s head. In 2011, they divorced. However, in 2012, they reportedly began seeing each other again, and in June 22, 2013, the couple got remarried, an event captured in the Bravo show “I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding.”
#8: Adam Levine & Behati Prinsloo
Talk about a match made in heaven. The lead singer of Maroon 5 was named the “Sexiest Man Alive” by People in 2013, and Victoria’s Secret Angel Prinsloo has graced the covers of the biggest fashion magazines in the world. They started dating in May 2012, but split up in 2013. It was only two months later that the couple realized they had made the “worst decision,” according to Prinsloo, and soon after that they got engaged. They were married in Mexico in July of 2014 and have since had two daughters together.
#7: Megan Fox & Brian Austin Green
Both of these stars have made audiences swoon, Fox in the “Transformers” franchise and Green in “Beverly Hills, 90210”. Yet it hasn’t been easy for the picture perfect couple. They met in 2004 while shooting the sitcom “Hope & Faith,” and began dating despite the 12-year age difference. Though they got engaged in November of 2006, they ended it about 2 and a half years later in 2009. They soon decided to make another go of it, however, and got married in Hawaii in 2010. Then in 2015, Fox filed for divorce . . . but by 2016 they were back together again. Here’s hoping it stays that way this time!
#6: Phil Collins & Orianne Cevey
It’s not often that you get someone just as successful in their band as they are in their solo career. But Collins made it happen, first with the band Genesis and later on his own with hits like “In the Air Tonight.” He was less successful in the marriage department, with multiple broken marriages and engagements until he met Orianne Cevey of Switzerland, who first worked as his translator. After getting hitched and having two kids, they divorced in 2008, and Collins had to pay the enormous settlement of £25 million to Cevey. In 2016, after “a few bits of darkness,” as the singer and drummer puts it, he made amends with Cevey and moved back in with her.
#5: Dwayne Wade & Gabrielle Union
Three years after her divorce from NFL player Chris Howard in 2006, actress Union met NBA player Dwayne Wade. And speaking of heat, sparks flew between the two, the couple dating for 4 years before things got rocky. They broke up in 2013, but remained friends, even while taking a step back from the relationship. In time, this led to their romance blossoming anew, and they got married one year later on August 30, 2014. In 2018, the happy couple introduced a new member to their family in the form of daughter Kaavia James Union Wade.
#4: Jessica Biel & Justin Timberlake
He’s a Grammy-Award winning singer and songwriter, she’s a successful actress, model, and producer. Together, they make one heck of a power couple. However, things weren’t always so easy for the adorable pair. JT and Jessical Biel began dating back in 2007, but broke up in March 2011. However, in an interview with Vanity Fair a few months later, Timberlake admitted that she was the “most significant person in [his] life . . . the most special person.” Well, apparently Jessica was watching. Because the romance was resumed later that same year, and the two married in 2012.
#3: Kristen Bell & Dax Shepard
We just love the most relatable celebrity couple of them all, known for being goofy and having fun in the public eye. However, any relationship can be a challenge, even between two awesome people, and there was a point at which Shepard actually broke up with Bell. According to Bell, Shepard told her she was wonderful, but that he still wanted to date other people. Although the “Veronica Mars” star took it hard, it wasn’t long before Shepard realized his mistake and ran back. Today, the pair are the definition of #couplegoals.
#2: Pink & Carey Hart
It’s not hard to see why a union between a raspy-voiced singing rebel and a daredevil professional motorcycle racer might not initially be the smoothest. After meeting at the 2001 X Games and dating for four years, it was Pink that proposed to Hart during one of his races using a pit board. The two married soon after in 2006. Despite the romantic start, the couple quickly ran into trouble and separated two years later. However, the two began dating again in 2009, with Hart explaining: “Sometimes you have to take a couple of steps back to move forward.” After some marriage counselling, the two have been happily together and have even appeared together in several music videos.
#1: Richard Burton & Elizabeth Taylor
This is one of those epic Hollywood love stories so captivating that it’s on our list decades after the fact. The forbidden affair that led to them divorcing their respective spouses was huge news at the time, and they decided to marry in 1964. During their marriage, they lived a luxurious lifestyle and starred in 11 movies together. However, the “marriage of the century” (as it was called) was turbulent, and ended in. Just 16 months after their first divorce, they decided to get hitched again, though the second attempt lasted less than a year. Unlike the other couples on our list, this couple ended up breaking up for good after all - but according to Taylor, their love for each other never really died.
