VOICE OVER: Dan
There's nothing like watching people, robots, aliens battle each other in over the top and prolonged gunfights and fisticuffs! Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we count down the top 10 sci-fi movie duels. Just to avoid confusion, our list includes showdowns involving two opponents that are similarly matched. We're dispensing with the traditional honor-bound, arranged meeting aspect of definition of a duel, and will be omitting superhero flicks.

Kicking off our list is this breathtaking fight between Joseph Gordon Levitt and an aggressive projection during a mind heist. When gravity disappears, he is forced to defend himself with hand to hand. Incredibly, this fight did not make use of CGI, but took place on a rotating set that twisted and turned 360 degrees, and took over three weeks to film. Why can’t Star Trek or Star Wars do something like this?

Of course, these are special sunglasses that allow the wearer to see the Aliens among us, but he’s not having it. Finally luring Khan into the Mutara Nebula, the two starships continue to battle blind before Kirk edges out a victory.

#6- Optimus Prime Vs Megatron “Transformers: The Movie” (1986)

Also in:

The Most Epic Moment from Every Star Wars Movie

If there was one giant robot fight to rule them all, it’s this one. Not one kid left the theatre with dry pants after seeing Optimus Prime battle Megatron for the last time. An evenly matched fight, it was pure good versus evil. From a fistfight to laser cannons and an energy blade, it all comes down to Optimus hesitating to finish the job, Megatron regaining the upper hand, and the two titans finally meeting their end together. Sure they fought again in Michael Bay’s films, but it just wasn’t the same…
