Top 10 Shows That Are Ending in 2025

Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re looking at shows expected to release their final episode in 2025. We’re leaving off “The Boys” since it seems more likely to end in 2026.

#10: “The Conners” (2018-)

“The Conners” got off to the rockiest of beginnings. Not due to its quality, but because of a racist tweet that promptly killed the “Roseanne” revival. Speaking of which, this spinoff killed off Roseanne, moving forward with the rest of the family. Some argued that the show wouldn’t work without the Conner matriarch. Others felt “The Conners” could never get past its problematic origins. “The Conners” nevertheless became a critical and ratings success, lasting seven seasons. The Conner family will bid farewell again over this six-episode final season. After more than 30 years since we met these characters, here’s hoping the Conners receive an emotional goodbye that doesn’t involve winning the lottery or revelations that it was all a novel Roseanne wrote.

#9: “Craig of the Creek” (2018-)

Despite its adoring fanbase, “Craig of the Creek” became another casualty of what’s been described as Warner Bros. Discovery’s animation purge. The writing was on the wall after news broke that the fifth season would be slashed in half. The second half would thankfully be salvaged as a sixth season, which kicked off in June 2024. Although the final four episodes are slated to air on Cartoon Network in 2025, Hulu briefly uploaded the entire season on August 1, 2024. This was apparently a mistake, as those episodes were swiftly removed from the service. Whether or not you snuck a peak, “Craig of the Creek” will be remembered as one of the best modern Cartoon Network shows as we venture into an uncertain tomorrow.

#8: “9-1-1: Lone Star” (2020-)

In May 2023, Fox opted not to renew “9-1-1,” although the long-running procedural drama found a new home at ABC. The spinoff, “9-1-1: Lone Star,” won’t follow its predecessor to a new network. Budget issues and contract disputes ultimately sealed the show’s fate, but Fox would throw a lifeline with a final season order. The fifth season debuted in September 2024 with the final episode set to air in February 2025. Rob Lowe thinks the cancellation signifies “the end of an era” for network TV, feeling shows like this just don’t get made anymore. While another “9-1-1” spinoff is reportedly being developed at ABC, Owen Strand and the rest of Station 126 will be missed as the fire goes out.

#7: “You” (2018-)

Like a few other shows on our list, this psychological thriller was initially expected to end in 2024. Given the effects of the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, a few productions inevitably got pushed back. The good news is that shooting wrapped in August 2024, meaning the fifth and final season of “You” is just around the bend. Penn Badgley is naturally back as Joe Goldberg, although this will be the first season without co-creator Sera Gamble as a showrunner. Assuming her duties are long-time writers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo. The season is also getting new blood with Madeline Brewer as a playwright who catches Joe’s eye, Griffin Matthews as Joe’s brother-in-law, and Anna Camp in a dual role as twin sisters.

#6: “Big Mouth” (2017-)

By the end of its eighth season, “Big Mouth” will set a record for Netflix’s longest-running scripted series. Being an animated series, Netflix could’ve turned “Big Mouth” into their “Simpsons” with no end in sight. Since the show is about growing up, though, it seems only fitting that Nick, Andrew, and the rest of the class learn another difficult lesson: nothing lasts forever, especially when transitioning from middle school to high school. The final season will see the characters navigate the next chapter in adolescence. While still going through changes, hilariously awkward moments are sure to remain a constant. It’s bound to be a season of self-discovery, but will we finally find out who the Ponytail Killer is? Our money’s on the Bad Mitten.

#5: “Squid Game” (2021-)

This South Korean series exploded into a cultural phenomenon in 2021, still holding the record for Netflix’s most-watched original television season. The long-awaited second season would be completed in time for the tail end of 2024. We won’t have to wait as long for Season 3, which is aiming for a 2025 premiere date. The downside is that this will also be the final season. As one of their most lucrative properties, Netflix is keeping the brand alive through spinoffs like “Squid Game: The Challenge” and a David Fincher-produced English adaptation currently in the works. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is content with ending this narrative after three seasons, however. Hwang teases “yet another thrill ride” that sees Gi-hun and Front Man clash for one last game.

#4: “Andor” (2022-)

Another production delayed because of the Hollywood strikes, “Andor” Season 2 finished shooting in February 2024. By the time it premieres in April 2025, nearly three years will have passed… and “Rogue One” will be almost a decade old! With Tony Gilroy again helming the ship, we’re confident it’ll be worth the wait. According to Gilroy, this final season is comprised of 12 episodes. Every three will cover another year, exploring major turning points in the Rebel Alliance’s formation. Along with Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, expect a few other familiar faces, including Ben Mendelsohn as Orson Krennic and Alan Tudyk as K-2SO. Even if we know where Andor’s story ends, his will go down as one of the best in “Star Wars” history.

#3: “Cobra Kai” (2018-)

Netflix released the first two-thirds of “Cobra Kai’s” sixth and final season throughout 2024. While the season got off to a fairly laidback start, it kept building momentum, leaving us on a killer cliffhanger. Although we can’t imagine anything topping that last fight, the fallout will surely raise the dramatic stakes to unprecedented levels. The final five episodes, which drop in February 2025, have much to unpack. Between the outcome of the Sekai Taikai and the shadow of doubt surrounding Mr. Miyagi’s legacy, the fate of karate looks grim. With “Karate Kid: Legends” hitting theaters in May 2025, it’s safe to say that Daniel LaRusso’s story is far from over. For many of these fan-favorite characters, though, this will be the last round.

#2: “The Handmaid’s Tale” (2017-)

When “The Handmaid’s Tale” premiered in 2017, it was hard not to draw parallels to real-world political tensions and an overarching fear that society might be going backward. About eight years later, we’re still having the same conversations. The final season of the Emmy-winning dystopian Hulu series couldn’t be coming at a more relevant time. Even after the show finishes its run in 2025, we’ll still likely be discussing “The Handmaid’s Tale” in the years to come. Not just as an example of humanity’s worst-case scenario, but as a reminder that as long as there are people like June Osborne fighting for freedom, independence can never be fully extinguished. However her story concludes, rest assured that June will give her oppressors Hell.

#1: “Stranger Things” (2016-)

Similar to the “Harry Potter” movies, we’ve watched the young cast of “Stranger Things” grow up over several years. One day, you’re a kid playing “Dungeons & Dragons” in a basement. The next, you’re twenty-something saving the world yet again. While every season has upped the ante, the final eight episodes are poised to be the most ambitious ever with Maya Hawke describing them as “basically eight movies.” The scale of these episodes, coupled with the effects of labor disputes, has resulted in an especially long wait. The Duffer Brothers have held us over with the reveals of episode titles and exciting casting announcements like Linda Hamilton. When the final season at long last drops in 2025, we’re prepared to party like it’s 1987.
