Top 10 South Park Characters Who Got Killed Off

Top 10 South Park Characters Who Got Killed Off
VOICE OVER: Ryan Wild WRITTEN BY: William Regot
Kenny dies all the time, but these "South Park" characters who got killed off can't come back so easily. Our countdown includes Jason White, Margaret Nelson, Satan, and more!

#10: Jack Tenorman

No one will ever forget the way in which Cartman arranged the demise of Scott Tenorman’s parents. The diabolical scheme successfully pulled off by Cartman showed an entirely new and much darker side of him viewers had never seen before. However, although only appearing in one episode, Scott’s father, Jack, would have a large impact on the storyline 9 seasons later. In the episode “201”, it is revealed that he’s Cartman’s real father as a result of Ms. Cartman’s….escapades. Without ever knowing it, Eric had actually planned his own dad’s end. This news had a devastating impact on Cartman, but not in the way one would expect.

#9: Philip “Pip” Pirrip

A recurring character in the series, this British exchange student was often mistreated by fellow classmates. In fact, the cruelty thrown Pip’s way was a repeated gag. In one instance, he was attacked by demons just so that Satan’s son Damien could impress all of his classmates at a party. Although often the butt of the joke, Pip did get his own special episode that was a bizarre adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic, “Great Expectations.” But over time, he was slowly phased out from the show and more spotlight was given to other characters such as Butters. His last appearance and demise came during the episode “201” when he met his end at the foot of Mechastreisand.

#8: Jason White

Since Jason was mostly a background character in early seasons, this South Park Elementary student didn’t usually have much to say. While he’d sometimes be seen around the playground or hallway, he never truly stood out from the crowd in most episodes. In season 23, the character had an unfortunate encounter with a cop car while trying to catch a football thrown by Cartman. Ironically, Jason may have gotten more focus after his sudden passing than he did when he was alive. His strange funeral service made sure this character wouldn’t soon be forgotten by fans.

#7: Lennart Bedrager

A thorn in Gerald Broflovski's side in season 20, this character pretended to be a Danish anti-troll activist. However, it turned out that Lennart was actually a master troll scheming to tear the world apart by using his website, TrollTrace. The revelation that he was a shameless troll led to him having a pointless debate with Gerald. During their final confrontation, in what seems like a heartfelt moment, Gerald suddenly turns the tables and sends Lennard to his doom. Fiendish and absurd, this character was a perfect example of how “South Park” could still surprise us with a random twist.

#6: Margaret Nelson

A lot of teachers at South Park Elementary have personal baggage. But Ms. Nelson stood out by actually being a good teacher. The kids were actually learning practical, fourth grade appropriate things from her, as opposed to the curriculum taught by Mr. Garrison. She tragically met her end during the “Vaccination Special” after contracting COVID-19. Although the boys rushed to give her the vaccine, by the time they reached her, it was too late. The parallels between this storyline and real life events made this loss a little more poignant and sobering than most.

#5: Leslie Meyers

At first, Leslie seems like your typical student at South Park Elementary, with the exception of constantly being called out by PC Principal during school assemblies. However, as the season progressed, viewers came to discover that she was a lot more than anybody could have anticipated; a sentient advertisement set on taking over the world. Cold and manipulative, she lets nothing and no one stand in her way. Fortunately, PC Principal is able to save the day and destroy her in epic fashion. The lesson here: don’t mess with PC Principal. It’s something Leslie unfortunately had to learn the hard way.

#4: Veronica Crabtree

Ms. Crabtree was a bus driver with an abrasive personality. When the boys would board the bus, they had to constantly deal with her yelling. However, the character did have her moments in the spotlight. In one episode, she was tasked with getting help for the children who were stuck on a bus yet somehow ended up becoming a standup comedy sensation. But, like Pip, her presence on the show also seemed to fade over time. In season 8, Ms. Crabtree met a strangely unceremonious end at the hands of a serial killer. It felt so out of left field that a cop investigating her demise heavily leaned on the fourth wall to talk about it. We agree, officer Yates, we agree.

#3: Diane Choksondik

In season 4, Ms. Choksondik took over the classroom as the new fourth grade teacher. Although she wasn’t as incompetent as Mr. Garrison, she did have her own eccentricities. Unfortunately Ms. Choksondik would meet her demise in the “Professor Chaos” episode. The story appeared to be setting up a cliffhanger that asked several questions, including which character out of a handful of South park residents who would never be seen again. However, the cliffhanger is immediately resolved and names Ms. Choksondik. The subsequent episode reveals the circumstances behind her passing.

#2: Satan

Introduced in the season one episode “Damien,” Satan has become a major recurring character. The Prince of Darkness had a boxing match against Jesus, a rocky relationship with Saddam Hussein and even had a major role in the “South Park” movie. Satan surprisingly met his end in “Nobody Got Cereal?” when he is killed in a fight against ManBearPig. The biggest shock is that he’s seen flying up to Heaven after the battle. If that’s not ironic in and of itself, you would also think that Satan would be immortal, but we guess even fallen angels can’t survive an attack from ManBearPig.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

Josh Carter
A Working Class Hero Who Paid the Ultimate Price

Betsy Donovan
Her Death Sparked A Debate For The Ages

Ted
This Mayor’s Aide Was a Familiar Face Before His Fatal Car Wreck

Gordon Stoltski
His Final Moments are Heard During the School Morning Announcements

#1: Jerome “Chef” McElroy

Voiced by the legendary Isaac Hayes, Chef was once one of the most beloved characters on the show. Whether he was looking out for the boys or giving them life lessons through song, he was always there for them. However, over time, Hayes became unhappy with how series creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, notably for how they portrayed the Church of Scientology. As a result, he eventually departed from the role. Soonafter, “South Park” gave Chef a less than dignified sendoff. During the character’s final episode, he’s turned into someone who’s been brainwashed by a malevolent organization. And to say that his death was brutal is an understatement.
