#10: “Single White Female” (1992)

After a falling out with her fiancé, Allie finds herself in need of some company in her large apartment, so she takes out an ad in the local paper for a roommate. What she gets is Hedy, an unhinged woman with a mysterious past, who goes from being a loyal friend to attempting to assume Allie’s identity. From wearing her clothes to getting the same haircut, Hedy’s creep factor goes through the roof when she takes the concept of BFF to WTF in this erotic thriller.

#9: “Vanilla Sky” (2001)

David Aames has a life anyone would dream of: a successful business, millions of dollars…and a gorgeous model for a lover. Paradise isn’t all it’s cracked up to be though, as his soon-to-be former lover Juliana simply won’t take no for an answer. David soon discovers that this femme fatale is one scorned woman you don’t want to mess with, and in this sci-fi thriller, she goes to great lengths to keep them together forever.

#8: “Fear” (1996)

At the start of this thriller, teenage “good girl” Nicole has been swept off her feet by her new boyfriend David. On the surface, he is everything she could ever dream of: polite, caring, and attentive. But soon, she notices some frightening red flags about his personality. Obsessed with “saving” her from her friends and family, David takes his love to the extreme, even carving Nicole’s name into his chest as a declaration of his affection. Yikes.

#7: “Swimfan” (2002)

The star of the high school swim team gets more than he bargained for in this steamy psychological thriller. After a night of passion with a fellow student, Ben Cronin and his one-time lover, Madison, agree to keep their encounter a secret, due to him already having a long-time girlfriend. Despite their agreement, Ben soon discovers that his one night stand could haunt him forever, as Madison seeks out his girlfriend, family and friends to get a bit closer to him, which results in a murder with all fingers pointed in his direction.

#6: “Play Misty for Me” (1972)

In this film, Clint Eastwood stars as popular radio DJ Dave Garver, a man whose life is turned upside-down by a fling with a fan of his show. Evelyn’s trademark call-in request to play her favorite song “Misty” leads Dave on a psychological whirlwind through seemingly coincidental encounters, as a romance blossoms and is then derailed by Evelyn’s insistent pursuit to infiltrate his life. With unexpected visits to his house and insane jealousy, Evelyn’s unstable behavior lands her in a mental hospital before she emerges under an assumed name to try to win Dave’s heart by any means necessary.

#5: “The Fan” (1996)

Sports fans have always been known to aggressively support of their team, but this tale of a fanatic athletic nutcase takes things to the extreme. With a passion for the San Francisco Giants’ newest star, an already mentally shattered man pursues his favorite player and tries to ensure his and his team’s success at any cost – including murder and kidnapping the famed sports star’s son.

#4: “Obsessed” (2009)

In “Obsessed,” Derek works for a successful finance company and has Beyoncé at his side as his loving and caring wife. Life seems perfect until an office temp named Lisa begins to flirt and then makes aggressive sexual advances towards him, which he rejects. Lisa’s persistence takes a turn for the cray-cray, though, when she creates intricate plots in order to break up Derek’s family and replace his wife with herself. This culminates in one of the bitchiest cat-fights in film history, as Beyoncé lets her would-be substitute know she’s undeniably irreplaceable.

#3: “One Hour Photo” (2002)

In a departure from his more comedic roles, Robin Williams stars in this film as Seymour Parrish, a photo technician whose fascination with the pictures of one of his regular customers develops into a fanatic obsession. Fixated on the drama he encounters as he views the lives of the family members change throughout the photos he develops, Sy fantasizes about being the beloved “uncle” of his customers and even develops an extra set of prints for himself to further his imaginary involvement.

#2: “Cape Fear” (1991)

In this psychological thriller, Max Cady is released from prison after serving several years for rape and assault charges and declares a vendetta on the lawyer who couldn’t keep him out of prison. From harassing Sam Bowden in the streets of his hometown to brutally attacking a female co-worker and posing as his teenage daughter’s drama teacher in a highly uncomfortable seduction scene, Cady is a scorned man with one thing on his mind: destroying the life of his former legal counselor.

Before we reveal our #1 pick, here are some honorable mentions:
- “Enough” (2002)
- “The Cable Guy” (1996)
- “Notes on a Scandal” (2006)
- “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle” (1992)
- “Sleeping with the Enemy” (1991)

#1: “Fatal Attraction” (1987)

In this Oscar-nominated flick, Glenn Close delivers a terrifying performance as Alex, a woman who’s had a one-night stand with a successful married businessman. The publishing company editor develops an obsession with him that quickly takes a turn for the bizarre and deadly as she attempts to infiltrate the life of the man who rejected her. Rule #1: Never ignore Alex. This unstable stalker fakes a pregnancy, blackmails her former lover, attempts suicide, and serves up some rather unsavory rabbit stew, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Alex’s disturbing behavior places her in movie stalker infamy and makes us all think twice about who we invite between the sheets.
