Top 10 Strongest Anime Partners
Alone, they’re strong. Together, they’re unstoppable. Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 10 Strongest Duos in Anime.
For this list, we’ll be looking at the pairings in anime who have fought side by side and proven just how devastating they are when they unleash their power on a united front!
#10: Shin & Noi
“Dorohedoro” (2020)
Sure, half the time they’re an adorable pair that make for great company (if you keep on their good side), but the other half is spent working as a pair of masked cleaners that can rip apart sorcerers with their bare hands! For all her beauty, Noi can crush heads with her bare fists and is in possession of the exceptionally rare healing magic, all the why Shin is a killing machine that can rip apart anything or anyone with his signature hammer. Put them together and you get a messy yet efficient tag team of doom!
#9: The Machineguns
“Kinnikuman” (1983-86)
They may not be in the habit of ending lives, but when it comes to breaking bodies inside of the ring, no one can stop the combined might of Kinnikuman and Terryman. While their solo careers are nothing to snort at, when they team up for a galactic wrestling event, nothing can stop them. Even monsters of the wrestling scene like Neptuneman and Big the Budo couldn’t hope to handle the macho mania that was the King of Muscle Planet and the Bucking Bronco!
#8: Atsushi & Akutagawa
“Bungo Stray Dogs” (2016-19)
They may hate each other’s guts, but for as much as they refuse to admit it, the Beast Beneath the Moonlight and Wielder of Rashomon are an absolute unit when they work together. By their lonesome, fellas like Francis F and Fyodor’s henchmen utterly wrecked them, but as soon as they stopped fighting each other and focused on their prey, they overcame the impossible with untamed ferocity. It doesn’t get more OP than a weretiger using the power of a demonic jacket!
#7: Edward & Alphonse
“Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood” (2009-10)
Who better to have fighting at your side than your sibling? If he just happens to be a suit of armour that can both take and dish our all kinds of punishment – all the better! With the goal to reclaim their bodies back from beyond the Gate of Truth, the Elric brothers not only dedicated their lives to alchemy, but also training themselves for combat. They can deconstruct and reconstruct matter within a heartbeat, and in terms of fisticuffs, neither of these brothers are slackers.
#6: Kirito & Eugeo
“Sword Art Online: Alicization” (2018-)
There may be no shortage of ladies in Kirito’s life aspiring to be his number one bed buddy, but there’s only one person that he considers his true bro – and that’s the straight edge swordsman willing to have his eye exploded to protect his comrades. Sorry, Klein. While lacking Kirito’s innate OPness, Eugeo is still a beast with a blade, especially when it comes to his time to use the Blue Rose Sword. Together they took down fearsome integrity knights and put an end to the Administrator’s wicked ways!
#5: Gon & Killua
“Hunter x Hunter” (2011-14)
Don’t let their age and size fool you – earning the wrath and ire of these two besties is a death sentence. Just ask all those Chimera Ants that ended up crushed under the weight of their insane Nen abilities! Even if you put aside Gon’s rage-filled transformation into his adult form, he’s still capable of dropping fools, left, right and centre with his Janjaken, all the while Killua compliments him as the living bolt of lightning raised by the ultimate assassin family. And they’re only getting stronger...
#4: Natsu & Gajeel
“Fairy Tail” (2009-19)
Like all of Natsu’s opponent’s, after getting roasted by his Fire Dragon Roar, Gajeel soon found himself joining the home team, though compared to Laxus and the like, his capabilities as a fighter when partnered with the Salamander overshadow all others. Though that’s probably due to the fact they were both raised by dragons. While Natsu burns all in his path with his flames, Gajeel smacks the teeth out of them by turning his body into steel and lashing out with all manner of weaponry. Enemies learned the hard way why you should never mess with Dragon Slayers.
#3: Asta & Yuno
“Black Clover” (2017-)
Just because they’re rivals doesn’t mean they don’t make for an unstoppable team. While their dedication to the Black Bulls and Golden Dawn often means they rarely have a chance to interact, the times in which these childhood companions have worked together to take down a common enemy has always resulted in their victory. Spellcasters, elves, even the Devil itself would have a hard time coping against Asta’s winged black form alongside Yuno’s spirit magic and mana mastery. The ones that have tried didn’t last too long.
#2: Naruto & Sasuke
“Naruto” franchise (2007-)
Sure, they’re way too flashy to be considered conventional ninja, but the power between these former team-mates is still so intense that it brought an end to an entire war. They may have tried to kill each other in their youth, but when these two put aside their differences, team up and unleash their Six Path abilities, there’s nothing their jutsu can’t decimate. Not even a supposed god tier foe like Momoshiki can hope to handle the likes of a Tailed Beast and Sharingan/Rinnegan user combined!
#1: Goku & Vegeta
“Dragon Ball” franchise (1989-2018)
Want to throw down as the universe’s strongest fighter? If you exploit his love of fair challenges and good nature, you might stand a miniscule chance of escape. But add the prideful Saiyan Prince to the mix, and your ass is dust. While in constant competition to become stronger, these two have no issue when it comes to beating the galactic stuffing out of anyone who threatens their adopted world. Even if you can hold your own against their innate strength and various transformations all the way to Super Saiyan God, you still have to worry about the pair of them fusing together into Gogeta for some next level teamwork!
