#10: The Plot

“The Bondsman” promises to raise some Hell – literally. The series follows a murdered bounty hunter, Hub Halloran, who is resurrected by the Devil and assigned to capture escaped demons and return them to “Hell’s prison.” He must hunt them down while navigating both the help and hindrance of his estranged family. It’s not long before Hub uncovers how his own sins doomed his soul – trapping him in his current fate. It’s this revelation that drives him to pursue redemption in the form of a second chance at life, love, and his nearly forgotten country music career.

#9: Starring Kevin Bacon

Hollywood icon Kevin Bacon leads the charge in “The Bondsman,” bringing his seasoned acting chops to the forefront of the supernatural series as the backwoods bounty hunter back from the dead. Known for wide-ranging roles in everything from “Footloose” to “Wild Things,” Bacon also boasts a strong history in the horror genre, often playing characters who face forces beyond comprehension. The veteran actor’s horror credentials include notable roles in “Friday the 13th,” "Tremors," "Stir of Echoes,” and “Hollow Man” - to name just a few. The Golden Globe winner’s talent for captivating audiences in high-stakes and pressure-filled situations will once more take centre stage in “The Bondsman.”

#8: Additional Cast

Alongside Kevin Bacon as Hub Halloran, a talented cast rounds out “The Bondsman,” with each actor bringing their own distinct energy to the show's intriguing world. They include “No Country for Old Men’s” Beth Grant as Kitty – Hub’s mamma, singer and actress Jennifer Nettles as Maryanne – his ex, “Lost in Space’s” Maxwell Jenkins as Cade – his son, and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’s” Damon Herriman as Lucky – Hub’s nemesis, who is also in a relationship with Maryanne and owns a successful country music club. Rounding out the cast is “The White Lotus’” Jolene Purdy as Midge – an unassuming looking secret emissary.

#7: Showrunner

Helming “The Bondsman” is writer and producer Erik Oleson, a seasoned industry vet who is known for crafting compelling, character-driven dramas. Notably, Oleson previously served as showrunner for the third season of Netflix’s “Daredevil,” which was widely praised for its gripping storytelling and intense action. He also oversaw the second season of Prime Video’s neo-noir fantasy series “Carnival Row.” In addition, Erik brought his executive talents to the dystopian drama “The Man in the High Castle” – which depicted a parallel universe where Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan ruled after victory in World War II. “The Bondsman” marks his latest endeavor in delivering captivating television to the masses.

#6: Supernatural Thrill Ride

By dispensing a thrilling journey in a danger-filled world run amuck with demons, “The Bondsman” firmly establishes itself in the supernatural thriller genre. Yep, the series promises a mix of horror, suspense, and hard-hitting action – not to mention a helping of humor. The series aims to blend supernatural terror with human drama, where the rules of reality are constantly in flux. Described by USA Today as part “Constantine” and part “Yellowstone,” the paranormal drama sits at a welcome intersection of audience tastes. Simply put, it's intriguingly strange and refreshingly original – sure to scratch that paranormal thriller itch.

#5. Production

Given that Kevin Bacon’s character in “The Bondsman” is a proud Georgian with little patience for foolishness (and a strong aversion to the Red Sox), it makes sense that much of the series was filmed primarily in Georgia. Production began in March 2024, with filming taking place across various locations. Notably, Grantville, known for its historic and atmospheric surroundings, provided the perfect eerie backdrop to enhance the show’s supernatural themes. Additionally, Atlanta, a prominent filming hub, hosted further scenes, offering a blend of urban landscapes and studio facilities ideal for both practical and special effects shots

#4. From Blumhouse Television

If you’re a horror fan, the name Blumhouse should already be on your radar. Blumhouse Television is part of the film, television and gaming company founded by Jason Blum in the year 2000. With films like “M3GAN,” “The Black Phone,” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” Blumhouse is widely regarded as the driving force in horror. Blumhouse Television is known for its bold scripted and reality series, earning awards for projects like “The Jinx” and “Sharp Objects.” Blumhouse Television also produces the original Prime Video series “The Sticky,” as well as “Worst Roommate Ever,” and “Worst Ex Ever.” With “The Bondsman,” Blumhouse continues its tradition of delivering chilling content with fascinating characters.

#3. There Will Be Blood

Brace yourselves – “The Bondsman” pulls no punches when it comes to its brutal action… or bloodshed. You see, the series fully embraces its intense and violent encounters, staying true to the genre’s signature blend of shocking and gruesome moments. But, by delivering a visceral, blood-soaked experience, “The Bondsman” highlights the darker elements of its storytelling. The series doesn’t shy away from other mature elements either, notably its strong use of sharped-tongued language. Suffice it to say that fans of unfiltered, blood-splatter horror who like gruesome kills with their action sequences will find plenty to enjoy here.

#2. On Prime Video

“The Bondsman” finds its home on Prime Video, aligning it with a host of other fan favourite offerings that the platform is known for. The streaming television service has been home to such Amazon MGM Studios-produced genre hits as “The Boys,” “Reacher,” “Cross,” and “Fallout” – among many others. By joining the ranks of these engaging shows, “The Bondsman” expands Prime Video’s growing collection of thrilling content, especially those that cater to fans of dark narratives. It all positions the supernatural drama as yet another must-watch, primed for binge-worthy viewing on the platform.

#1: Release

A select audience was given a sneak peek at “The Bondsman” at the 2025 South by Southwest film festival in Austin Texas, where Kevin Bacon also participated in a career retrospective that charted his many versatile performances and highlighted the evolution of his craft up until now. Through Prime Video, the series marks its premiere on April 3, 2025, with all eight episodes being available for viewing – giving audiences plenty to sink their teeth into. After topping numerous “anticipated entertainment lists,” “The Bondsman” will be available in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
