Top 10 Times Celebs Clapped Back on Social Media
#10: Lili Reinhart Addresses Unnecessary Concerns
Female celebrities constantly have to put up with people talking about their size. But many are no longer keeping quiet and are instead calling out these toxic behaviors. Lili Reinhart definitely didn’t hold back when a so-called fan on Twitter shared their concerns over what she eats and what her body looks like. They said that they just don’t want her talent to be overshadowed by how much she weighs. The Riverdale star immediately thanked them for being concerned about this and added, “I'll respond later after I finish my double cheeseburger.” Of course, the user deleted their tweet after they realized they can’t just say whatever they want about Lili!
#9: Katy Perry vs. Diplo
Katy proved that Diplo wasn’t “the one that got away” when she was asked about her love life. When television host James Corden asked her to rank her past three lovers, and Katy didn’t hold back when she revealed that Diplo had the worst moves out of the three. The news traveled fast and, of course, Diplo found out what she said about him. His reply? He tweeted that he doesn’t even remember showing off his love-making moves to her. He then followed up with a photo of himself, on top of some stage scaffolding and captioned it: “I won the bronze metal in sex Olympics.”

Tabloids always speculate about couples breaking up, with Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher being the targets in 2019. However, the two lovebirds made things very clear when they confirmed that they’re still together in a hilarious IG video. In the post, Ashton asked Mila what’s going on and she replied that it’s over between them as she read a headline from InTouch Weekly’s cover. Mila claimed that she felt suffocated and Ashton replied that it must have been because he was so overbearing. Mila then updated Ashton with the news that she took the kids and he had a very dark secret exposed. The video was captioned, “Maybe next week my wife will be having twins. For the third time. But who’s counting.”
#7: Halsey vs. Misogynists
In 2017, an Instagram user tried to tell Halsey she shouldn’t be posing topless for Playboy magazine because she considers herself to be a feminist. Halsey quickly shut that down by assuring the commenter that she can definitely show off her physical assets in Playboy magazine if she wants to as it’s her choice. It doesn’t take away the fact that she also spoke at the Planned Parenthood Gala with Hillary Clinton, addressed the United Nations, had a chart-topping record and much more. With her response, she wanted to prove the point that women can be multi-dimensional - and she definitely succeeded. You go, girl!
#6: Kim Kardashian vs. Lindsay Lohan
Perez Hilton loves to stir the pot and he definitely did so when he posted an IG photo of Kim K’s new do back in 2018. He asked people what they think about it and for some reason, Lindsay Lohan replied, stating that she is confused. Of course, the word got around to Kim, who quickly put Lindsay in her place with a response that read, “You know what's confusing…your sudden foreign accent.” Ouch, that one’s gotta hurt. Over the years, Lindsay’s new accent became a huge topic and people were completely baffled as to why her speech pattern had changed so much. Kim may have had a point there, but that doesn't remove the controversy surrounding her braided hairstyle.
#5: Sharon Osbourne vs. the Jenners
Kylie and Kendall Jenner have faced a lot of controversy over the years, but they really riled up some people with one of their merch pieces in 2017. They decided to put their own faces over images of some of the biggest music legends, like The Notorious B.I.G, Ozzy Osbourne, and Tupac, and sold the “Rap vs Rock” t-shirts for over $100. While Biggie’s mother called the act “disrespectful” and his estate even suggested legal action, Ozzy’s wife Sharon chose a different method. She posted a viral tweet that read “Girls, you haven’t earned the right to put your face with musical icons. Stick to what you know…lip gloss.” The girls later apologized and pulled the shirts from sale, but the damage was already done - and not just with Sharon’s clapback.
#4: Pink's Clapback at a Hater
Pink’s edgy persona makes it very clear that she has zero time for haters. And yet, some people still want to try her. After her 2018 Super Bowl national anthem performance, a Twitter user decided to express what they thought of the pop singer: “Pink sucks and if you like her singing, you’re dumb.” And apparently, it wasn’t the first time they’ve voiced that opinion. Pink saw the tweet and shot back with the retort that at least she sucks “while singing the national anthem,” while the poster “just suck[ed] by yourself on a dirty couch. #winning."
#3: When Someone Dared to Doubt Cher
Cher definitely has her own style when it comes to tweeting and they’re all golden. But it’s even better when she puts a hater in their place, as she definitely knows how to state her opinion loud and clear. In 2017, she got political when she tweeted that “those who can, must take a dreamer into their home and protect them.” She added that she’s ready to do this and others in her business will do the same to offer sanctuary. A Twitter user replied that she’ll believe it when she sees it. Cher then made it clear that the tweeter clearly caught an L when the singer and actress wrote her back with this.
#2: Rihanna vs. Ciara
The Rihanna versus Ciara feud started in the early 2010s when Ciara mentioned that Rihanna wasn’t the nicest when she ran into her at a party. RiRi blasted her on Twitter, saying “My bad Ci, did I forget to tip you? #howrudeofme.” It implied that CiCi was there as a waitress, not an invitee. Ciara fired back with “Trust me, Rihanna, you don’t want to see me on or off the stage,” but that couldn’t with RiRi’s “Good luck with booking that stage you speak of.” Though Rihanna ultimately apologized, this wasn’t the last time she let someone have it on social media. In 2020, she promoted her Fenty brand’s moisturizer with sunscreen on Instagram, and had a commenter remind her that “it’s winter now.” RiRi replied with, “it’s the ignorance for me” and reminded the poster that they’d get wrinkles if they thought “SPF is seasonal!”

#1: Chrissy Teigen: The Queen of Clapbacks
If there’s one person that really never holds back her opinions - at least online - it’s Chrissy Teigen. When the model and TV personality was criticized for her parenting style, she quickly alluded to her haters being miserable. Then, when someone told her that she’d peaked, Chrissy got them back by reminding the Twitter user that she has a best-selling book, a family she loves, and was “literally eating pasta on a lake in Italy” - as well as having “married rich”. She was also asked what exactly her job is, apart from being “a bully, rude, and married to John Legend.” Chrissy shot back with “You just listed 3 jobs. You want me to have more than 3 jobs?” Well, guess we can’t argue with that!
