Top 10 Times Road Rage Was Caught on Camera
Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the most shocking times drivers snapped with road rage and took it out on other drivers and cyclists, all of which were caught on camera.
Imagine looking out of your office building only to see one of the most bizarre incidents of road rage ever. Well, in 2016, one office worker experienced just that in the Dulwich neighborhood in Adelaide, Australia. And, thankfully, they filmed it. After an altercation, a man got onto the hood of a blue Sedan, like you do. However, instead of stopping the car from taking off, the Sedan drove away, flinging the man into the road. The car surfer was taken to the hospital to get treatment for a minor head injury. Meanwhile, the teenage girl driving the vehicle as well as the passenger, a man in his 20s, were charged with disorderly behavior.
One of the most turbulent relationships on the road is that between car drivers and cyclists. Both sides have often gotten into debates about road laws and etiquette, especially online. In 2017, A man named Yousif Devlin caught an intense interaction between the two sides in Toronto, Ontario. After hearing the cyclist yell, “You almost killed me back there,” and questioning why the driver was laughing at him, Devlin knew something was about to happen. And boy was he right. He caught the biker raging on the car’s wing mirror, destroying it into pieces. After some more choice words, the cyclists rode off with probably very sore hands.
Dashcams have proven to be a useful tool in showing authorities and insurance companies what went down during an incident. In 2015, cops arrived at Loop 101 in Arizona to hear two drivers give very conflicting versions of what happened. With nothing to prove either one correct, the issue was dismissed. However, another driver then came forward with footage from their dashcam. After badly cutting off the other car and causing a collision, it was clear Kyle Geisler was at fault. The beginning of the video only makes Geisler look even worse as he’s caught tailgating, burning rubber, and actually opening his door on the highway. With irrefutable evidence, Geisler was arrested and charged for his behavior.
Sometimes, people are so consumed by road rage that they end up putting themselves in danger. In 2024, Amy Faulconer Lamb was driving back home on Interstate 64 in Virginia. After seeing a Chevrolet Tracker aggressively driving and raging at everyone for miles, Lamb whipped out her camera. The driver got more unhinged as they tried overtaking on the grass. However, they quickly lost control in a brutal scene taking place on the vegetation. Despite the carnage, Kristina Marie Mitchell, the raging driver, only received minor injuries. She reportedly told a police officer the car in front kept speeding up when she tried to overtake them. Mitchell was arrested and charged on four counts, including reckless driving.
Speed cameras can be annoying for drivers, sure. No one likes being issued a hefty fine. But one Australian driver in New South Wales shared their opinion in a rather violent way. The video from 2019 shows the driver ramming into the device over and over again, pushing it slightly closer to the trees and away from the road. They revved their engine so much that exhaust fumes blanketed the area. When the video was shared on Facebook, several comments praised the vandalizer, even calling for more damage to the apparatus.
In 2016, Joel Hartzell uploaded a YouTube video of shocking dashcam footage he’d recorded at night in Colorado Springs. After an altercation, a motorbike gave chase to a white Ford Mustang. According to Hartzell, the Mustang cut off the biker’s partner. When the biker, Skyler Bradley, got side-on with Brian Candelaria’s Mustang, an argument ensued. It looks like Bradley touched the car at one point, and was quickly met with the Mustang driving straight into him. Thankfully, Bradley ended up relatively unscathed, but both drivers were eventually charged: Candelaria with Second Degree Assault and Bradley with harassment.
On one August day in 2016, two buses were involved in major incidents in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. With the Summer Olympics going on at the time, one media bus was attacked. The other incident saw a bus driver getting dramatic revenge against a car. Reportedly fed up with the traffic in the city during the Games, the bus driver pushed a taxi along the road, even after its brakes screeched with the force. Eventually, the taxi managed to direct itself away from the bus’s rampage and park on the side of the road as the far bigger vehicle continued on its way.
In 2022, cops pulled over a woman by the name of Sierra Hibbert after calls about her reckless driving in Byron, Georgia. After initially stopping, she then took off, striking a police car as well as several people. Hibbert’s getaway didn’t last long, as the police caught up to her. However, she once again sped off, colliding with cop cars as an officer tried to break her car window. Hibbert was eventually surrounded and was pulled from the vehicle. That was when the cops found a child in the backseat. The police bodycam had her bizarrely claiming she didn’t do it despite the very clear evidence of her using her SUV as a battering ram. Unsurprisingly, Hibbert was arrested and charged for her rampage.
In 2019, Veneranda Valencia Alvarez was driving along with her two daughters in Anaheim, California. There are conflicting reports about the details leading up to the man’s anger but he can be seen in a video taken by one of Alvarez’s daughters smashing the windshield of the car with his fist before taking off, leaving an estimated $1200 in damage. Thanks to the footage, the man was later identified as Joshua Robert Dalton. After being taken into custody, he reportedly told officers he lost his temper after Alvarez cut him off.
In one 2024 incident, a witness stepped out of their vehicle to record a bout of reckless driving in Toronto, Ontario. The car can be seen making a U-turn, before 21-year-old Rishabh Barua darts out and aggressively approaches the recorder. Behind him, his passenger followed. To make matters worse, Barua was carrying a knife and attempted to slash at the recorder several times with it. Thankfully, he didn’t get close enough to do any damage. The duo then left the scene. Barua was soon arrested by the police and charged for his unhinged behavior.
