#10: Cardi B’s Birthday Gift
Nothing says “I love you” quite like your very own customized billboard! For her 28th birthday, Cardi B received a special surprise when she was given a massive sign featuring a photo of herself and her daughter with the caption "Happy Birthday Mommy Love, Kulture." The larger-than-life present seemingly didn't come with a gift tag, but the internet assumed it was from the rapper's husband, Offset. The two were reportedly separated at the time, but they got back together soon after. Maybe this grand gesture had a little something to do with it.
#9: Tom Cruise’s Couch Jump
In 2005, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes became one of Hollywood's most surprising and talked about new couples. Cruise especially seemed to be head over heels in love. When the "Mission Impossible" star appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," the romance came up, and he couldn't contain himself. Cruise jumped right on top of Winfrey's couch and thus created one of the 2000s most bizarre celeb moments. While things didn’t work out for the couple in the end, this moment continues to live in infamy.
#8: Pete Davidson’s Tribute to Kim Kardashian
If there are two things we can guess about Pete Davidson, it's that he's a hopeless romantic and enjoys tattoos. And when he was dating his now-ex, Kim Kardashian, he decided to make things permanent. Indeed, Davidson got the words “My Girl Is a Lawyer,” tattooed on himself, referencing Kardashian’s efforts to become an attorney. And this was just one of the ways he altered his body for her. The SKIMS creator gushed about the tributes while appearing on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." This isn’t the only time Davidson used ink to honor a partner, either. He also notably got tats for his now-ex, Ariana Grande.
#7: James Corden Restaurant Incident
James Corden received a bad review for his lack of dining manners in 2022. He was called out by restaurateur Keith McNally in a scathing Instagram post. In the caption, McNally explained that he banned Corden from New York's Balthazar and described him in less-than-flattering terms. He also shared manager reports from different visits made by Corden. It notably stated that he yelled at a server and was "nasty" to them after a dish was made incorrectly. Corden, however, fanned the flames when he said he felt he "[didn't do] anything wrong." Amid much back and forth, he said the restaurant served his wife food she was allergic to but that he was also "rude" about it, and expressed regret on “The Late Late Show”.
#6: Robin Thicke’s “Paula” Album
After their nearly decade-long marriage, singer Robin Thicke and actress Paula Patton publicly stated that they were going their separate ways in 2014. Later that year, Thicke released an entire album dedicated to his ex titled, "Paula". The record included songs with titles like "Get Her Back", "You're My Fantasy" and "Too Little Too Late". Some critics weren't too kind to the concept album, with many feeling it was off-putting and offered up too much info about their break up. While it appeared that Thicke created the project as an effort to save their relationship, in the end the album failed to win Patton over, and the pair would subsequently divorce.
#5: Will Smith Oscar Slap
At the 2022 Oscar ceremony, presenter Chris Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's appearance. This prompted her husband, nominee Will Smith, to strike the comedian across the face. The moment was downright shocking and set the Internet ablaze. A hot topic of conversation for weeks after the event, the incident caused quite a bit of debate over who was in the wrong. Smith, who also ended up winning his first Oscar that night, apologized for the act of violence, calling his action "unacceptable." The actor ended up resigning from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and being banned from any of their shindigs for a decade.
#4: Heather Thomson’s Claim
In the Bravo Universe, there's one thing folks cannot live without: gossip. In Dave Quinn's book “Not All Diamonds and Rosé: The Inside Story of the Real Housewives from the People Who Lived It," Heather Thompson held nothing back. In the tell-all, the "RHONY" alum talked about her former colleague, Sonja Morgan. Thompson said that Morgan had consented to letting men "put lit cigarettes” in her private area. The wild statement faced backlash from Morgan, who insisted it was a fabrication. Soon afterwards, a vid of “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles" cast member Josh Flagg came out that seemed to corroborate the claim. However, Flagg stated it was a joke and called suggestions to the contrary "ridiculous."
#3: Megan Fox’s Engagement Ring
As a couple, Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox have sort of become the Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton of this generation. From him wearing her blood in a necklace, to her explaining that they sometimes drink each other's blood, they always keep us guessing. But their unique engagement might just top everything. When Kelly proposed to Fox in 2022, he presented her with a ring made of thorns. Yes, you heard that correctly! The bands are indeed thorns, so removal is painful! The "Bloody Valentine" singer said it was designed that way because "Love is pain!" which sparked some backlash.
#2: Gwyneth Paltrow’s Candle
In 2008, Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow decided to venture beyond acting, and made her mark in the wellness industry by launching her company, Goop. It started as a newsletter, and has since ventured into e-commerce, media, and more. Goop sells all kinds of lifestyle products, many of which have been…interesting. There’s perhaps no better example of this than the truly one-of-a-kind candle whose scent was supposedly reminiscent of a vaginal area. Crafted with a mix of "citrusy bergamot" and "geranium," among other things, the waxy taper retailed for $75. It caused such a sensation that there was reportedly even a waitlist for it!
#1: Nicki Minaj’s Vaccination Claims
In 2021, while the world was reacting to the COVID-19 vaccine, Nicki Minaj took to Twitter to voice her opinion. This was prompted by the fact that she was not attending the MET Gala, which only permitted vaccinated attendees. She explained that she hadn’t yet gotten the shot, and one tweet in particular caught people’s attention, sparking major backlash. She seemed to imply that at least one of her reasons for remaining unvaccinated was that a friend of her cousin allegedly had a bad reaction to the jab. She stated his side effects included infertility, and "swollen" genitals, which apparently caused his fiancée to call off their wedding.
