Ironically, this movie isn’t as much about killing the bloodthirsty creature as it is about a young geek trying to get with a girl.

Love vampire hunting? Well this film is centered on a team of Vatican hired vampire hunters and their leader, played by James Woods. Traveling on Holy missions, they must destroy nests of the bloodsuckers before they locate a crucifix with the power to allow them to walk in broad daylight.

Starring Christopher Lee, this groundbreaking Hammer Studios classic is one of Hollywood’s most pivotal vampire films for combining romance, sensuality and gore. This picture is centered on Count’s journey from Transylvania to England, where he begins to take countless victims, meeting his arch-nemesis Van-Helsing.

Based on the best selling novel by Anne Rice, this critically acclaimed film stars Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in the roles of Lestat and Louis. The two share several lifetimes together, before Louis turns away from taking human life. Only the transformation of a little girl gives him a reason to continue existing.

This silent era German masterpiece is the granddaddy of all vampire movies, so we have to show our respect. Not only based on the familiar Dracula tale, it uses expressionism to first define what a Vampire should be, a terrifying ghoul that lives in the shadows.

Starring Bela Lugosi, this film built upon the success of Nosferatu, while eclipsing it due to its use of sound. This film also did the unthinkable by having Dracula take on a handsome and gracious aristocrat that was able to trick his prey and the viewer into liking him. Lugosi allowed us to accept that vampires could be personable enough to sit you down for a delightful drink, before turning you into the main course.

Rounding out our list is the stunning big budget Hollywood film that re-introduced Count Dracula alongside an A-list cast. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, it starred Gary Oldman, Anthony Hopkins, Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves. This film takes away all the camp and brought the old spooky story back to life with a real sense of terror.
