For this list, we're looking at the characters from this hit AMC series that we couldn't stand to watch, either because they're a waste of skin or we just grew to loathe them over the series' run. You won't see great villains like Negan here, since his brand of menace makes him utterly fascinating to watch. With that said, be on the lookout for a whole slew of spoilers down the line.

#10: Eugene Porter
When we first encountered this rather strange survivor, he almost seemed like a beacon of hope. Sure, his quirks could be unusual and the fact he liked to watch Abraham and Rosita have sex was all kinds of creepy. But we could forgive that since he had the knowledge needed to end the Walker crisis… right? Wrong. Turns out the whole thing was a big fat lie - one that he ended up paying for. Granted, he managed to claw his way back into fans’ favor with his intellect and genuine moments of courage. That is, until he went and turned traitor. Dammit, Eugene!
#9: Lizzie Samuels
We’d normally not wish death upon any children, especially those subjected to the horrors of this particular zombie apocalypse. That being said, this little fictional girl definitely needed to be put down. More than a little messed in the head, Lizzie grew attached to the Walkers to the point where she was more affectionate to them than the living. These twisted views ultimately led to the horrifying moment where she kills her own sister with a knife just so she would come back from the dead. Needless to say, her bullet to the head was well earned.
#8: Ron Anderson
A troubling family life can certainly have quite the negative effect on an adolescent, especially someone like Ron. His father was abusive, his mother kept making eyes at Rick, and Carl had managed to earn the attention of the girl he liked. We can forgive Ron for being a little pissed off about the whole thing. However, we draw the line at multiple murder attempts. He nearly kills both Rick and Carl during the siege of Alexandria, and overall just comes across as something of a dick. You know what? Forget the sympathy, stab him again, Michonne!
#7: Ed Peletier
His time on the show may have been brief, but he still managed to leave a bad taste in everyone’s mouths. Coming across as arrogant and lazy, Ed earned everyone’s ire with his mistreatment of Carol. Since this was before Carol underwent the transformation into the unhinged badass we all know her as, she suffered in silence as he openly beat her. Throw in the rather disturbing way he addressed his daughter, and Ed painted himself as an all-around disgusting individual. Luckily, it wasn’t long before he ended up on the receiving end of both Shane’s rage and a Walker’s bite.
#6: Gabriel Stokes
You sort of have to admire how much back-treading the show is doing with this character in order to redeem him for past mistakes. Whelp, given his rather unholy history across the series, they still have a long way to go. We see that due to his fear of the Walkers, he locked his flock out of the church, killing them all by proxy. However, his worst moments came during the early days of Alexandria, where he starts to spread discord among the residents, telling them not to trust Rick and the rest of the group. Of course it’s all a front for his own guilt and crisis of faith, but his actions won’t be forgotten or forgiven anytime soon.
#5: Nicholas
Look up the word “coward” and you’ll see a picture of this guy. We first see evidence of just how weak a man he is when he, Glenn, and Noah are surrounded by Walkers and stuck in a rotating doorway. He chooses to flee, causing Noah to meet a gruesome end. He only spiralled from there, as he passed the blame on and went out of his way to try and kill Glenn. Well, at least it can’t get any worse… you would have thought - but then he took the easy way out and shot himself in a move that had everyone fooled into thinking that Glenn was about to meet his end.
#4: Gregory
Right from the get go, it was clear that the leader of Hilltop only cared about saving his own skin, made all the worse by his oily charm and inflated ego. Initially refusing to aid Rick in his fight against the Saviors, his shallowness is fully revealed when Maggie ends up practically usurping his position from under him. Spineless to the end, he will say practically anything to ensure his own survival, which is what makes his constant failings an utter delight to witness. Here’s hoping a Walker gets the jump on him sooner or later.
#3: Lori Grimes
Oh dear, Lori, you sure know how to lead yourself from one mess to another. Think your husband has died? Just mourn for a couple of weeks before having unprotected sex with his best friend with no thought of the consequences. Even after Rick returns, Lori’s idiocy doesn’t let up. She flip-flops on every major decision that comes up, then waits a pretty long time before revealing the truth that she had an affair and is pregnant. Sure, her death is a pretty harrowing one, but she hadn’t exactly made it easy to root for her up until her end.
#2: Andrea
Speaking of bad decisions… In the beginning, Andrea was actually a pretty strong character, adapting quickly to become a sort of a right hand to Rick, as well as a damn good shot. Then she went a little off the rails. Berating Dale, randomly screwing Shane, nearly killing Daryl, sleeping with The Governor, not killing The Governor, it just goes from one thing to the next until she meets a rather lackluster ending. The only sure-fire positive thing we can say about her is that her existence led to the arrival of Michonne.
Before we reveal our number one pick, here are a few dishonorable mentions.
- Jadis
- Aiden Monroe
- Dawn Lerner
#1: Spencer Monroe
What is it with the Monroe family? Sure, Deanna and Reg were pleasant enough, but their kids are just asses. Case in point: Spencer, who makes the leap from jealous douche all the way to full-on antagonist. Spencer harbored an intense hatred for Rick over how he took over from his mother as leader of Alexandria, so it wasn’t long before he jumped on the Negan bandwagon in the hopes that he’d eventually kill Rick. Too bad he had no guts to speak of. Actually, as we soon find out when his backstabbing plan fails miserably, that’s not true at all; he has plenty of guts. Too bad for him they’re splattered across an Alexandria street.
