#10: “The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay” (2004)

Vin Diesel kicks off our list with this underrated stealth adventure. Set before the events of 2000’s Pitch Black, the player takes on the role of Riddick, complete with his ability to see in the dark as he attempts to break out of a maximum security prison, where no prisoner has ever escaped. Well with Riddick’s enhanced combat abilities and using Stealth to his advantage, its time to break that record.
#9: “Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge” (2003)
The Xbox’s answer to Rogue Leader on the Gamecube, Crimson Skies is set in an alternate history of 1930’s North America where apparently anyone can afford a plane and a zeppelin, since aviation is constantly plundered by sky pirates. With a campaign set to a theme a campy 1940’s adventure film, if you ever wanted to take to the skies in wacky looking planes to take down giant robot spiders. Look no further.
#8: “Project Gotham Racing 2” (2003)
Ex Telltale Devs Are Making a Secret Project
On the surface it looks like a racing simulation game, but under the hood its more of an arcade racer. This game has you build up what’s known as Kudos points to unlock more tracks and cars, and you earn said Kudos points by pulling off powerslides, hitting high speeds and overtaking your rivals. Also this game went further than the first entry with the inclusion of online play.
#7: “Jade Empire” (2005)
Bioware’s first sucsessful original IP, an Action RPG that uses martial arts combat is set in mythical Chinese, where you take on the role of either a Male or Female legendary fighter known as a Spectr … err … Spirit Monk. Mixed with Bioware’s now signature branching storylines and morality system, and the unique hand to hand combat system, prepare to feel like a true Kung Fu master.
#6: “Psychonauts” (2005)
The crazy platforming masterpiece by Double Fine Productions, Psychonauts is an action platformer with a psychotic sense of humor by going inside people's minds. For example one minute you're inside the mind of a paranoid nutjob who has a dream of being a homicidal milkman. And the next you a giant monster destroying a city inhabited by talking fish. ... We'll let you piece together the rest.
#5: "Fable: The Lost Chapters" (2005)
Did Peter Molyneux’s epic quest live up to the hype? Probably not. But the impressive fantasy world of Fable is indeed one worth getting immersed in. Bringing in a morality good and evil system, and tight action RPG combat system, it sure was a fantastic game for its time, though the overpromising by Peter Molyneux’s was pretty obnoxious.
#4: “Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory” (2005)
While this game was released on other consoles at the same time, the Xbox version is by far the definitive version. Taking on the role of covert agent Sam Fisher the game makes lighting a gameplay feature as the brighter the area is, the more you can see, but also enemy’s can see you. You can also interrogate enemies with some really cool banter between Fisher and the local part time terrorists to get you immersed in Tom Clancy’s world.
#3: “Ninja Gaiden: Black” (2005)

After the franchise had laid dormant since the NES days, developer Team Ninja gave Ryu Hayabusa a brand new deadly quest to hack and slash away at other Ninja’s skeletons’ and dinosaurs. The enhanced black edition also added new mission modes as well including the DLC free on the disc. Never the less try not to get too distracted too much cause you’ll need your Ninja reflexes to survive this hard as hell game.
#2: “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” (2003)

Another Bioware game on the list, and it just so happens to be the best Star Wars game to date. Set about 4,000 years before the events of the film series, this game has you travel the Star Wars galaxy’s famous planets in your ship the Ebon Hawk, with a handful of memorable allies. There’s also a massive plot twist that if you haven’t played the game for yourself, you really need to experience it right from the start. Before we get to the probably obvious top spot, lets have a look at some honorable mentions.
