As the two duelists clash in battle, their backstories are also shared between them, making them realize that they have more in common than they thought. #7: Team 5Ds VS Team Ragnarok
It’s the semi-final of the World Racing Grand Prix and Team 5Ds faces their most menacing foe yet: Team Ragnarok! Throughout the match, you learn that Team Ragnarok is written to be a mirror of Team 5Ds. Both teams have a powerhouse duelist, a wildcard, and their stoic leader to carry the group to victory. Keeping that concept in mind, the duel is chock full of tricky card effects and effective teamwork. And, despite it being the longest duel of Yugioh 5Ds, the faceoff managed to keep everyone on the edge of their seats in anticipation for the next move. In the end, Team Ragnarok’s Nordic gods fell to the overwhelming might of the Crimson Dragon’s chosen one.
#6: Rex Goodwin VS Yusei, Jack, and Crow

#4: Jack VS Carly
Jack has been seeking to save Carly from her dark fate, and the opportunity finally arises when he duels her to save the world. Carly is a sly duelist, using not only warped versions of her old monsters, but also emotional manipulation to get what she wants out of Jack. She even goes as far as brainwashing Jack into believing he’s lost the duel and in turn is a Dark Signer. However, the illusion is shattered, and Jack is able to dissipate Carly’s mind games to win the duel. The ending pulls your heartstrings as Jack and Carly share an embrace before she disappears.
#3: Yusei VS Z-ONE
The final duel against the true mastermind of Yiliaster has finally arrived. This duel is not only a tough challenge for Yusei, but it contains a huge twist for the audience as well. We were all led to believe that Z-ONE is Yusei from the future, but instead he is a nameless scientist who surgically turns himself into a Yusei replica in order to bring hope to the people of his time. So it’s Yusei versus Yusei-clone as a battle to save the future rages on. Z-ONE’s seemingly impenetrable Timelords prove a challenge, but Yusei and his Shooting Quasar Dragon swoop in to save the world.
#2: Yusei VS Kalin
Yusei has a poor track record with his buds staying friendly, as another one of his old pals has gone rogue. Kalin, an old friend from his younger days, appears as a Dark Signer, ready to duel Yusei for revenge. Not only are we treated to the past of Team Satisfaction, but we’re given a hard hitting duel that kept out eyes glues to the screen. It serves as a good introduction to what the real Dark Signers are capable of and to flesh out the cut-throat world of the Satellite. We also get to learn the dangers of card games on motor cycles.
Before we get to our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions:
Aporia VS Jack, Leo, and Luna
Yusei VS Jack
#1: Yusei VS Aporia
The sci-fi elements were strong with this duel as all of Team New World combines to become their true form: Aporia, and Yusei must fight this mechanical monstrosity on his own. Not only does he face each of the Meklord Emperors, Yusei must also fight their wormy overlord, Meklord Astro Mekanikle. This duel has not only the championship at stake, but also the entire city as Aporia brings the Ark Cradle, an upside-down replica of Neo Domino City, crashing down upon everyone’s heads. This epic match shows what Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds is all about: high octane action, world-changing risks, and the power of never giving into despair.
