Top 20 Badass Jason Statham Moments

Top 20 Badass Jason Statham Moments
VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton
These badass action-movie moments will give you a newfound respect for Jason Statham. Welcome to WatchMojo and today, we're counting down our picks for the most epic and extraordinarily badass Jason Statham moments! Our countdown of badass Jason Statham moments includes films like “Spy”, “The Expendables”, “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw”, “The Meg”, “The Transporter”, and more!

#20: #10: A Real Spy

“Spy” (2015)
It's not an obvious pairing, but Jason Statham and comedies surprisingly go hand in hand. In the case of this hilarious espionage spoof, Statham exaggerates his tough guy persona to the point where his supposed accomplishments in the field keep getting more and more ridiculous. This results in one of the film’s funniest moments, as he lists off the reasons why he’s a ‘real’ spy compared to Melissa McCarthy’s amateur undercover agent. We don’t know if any of these actually happened, but we sure as hell would love to see it in a sequel! Especially the part about reattaching his own arm with his other arm.

#19: Father of the Year

“Homefront” (2013)
If messing with Statham by himself is enough to earn you a trip to the hospital, then what do you think would happen if you messed around with his daughter? After moving to a new town, single father Phil Broker finds that he doesn’t just have to worry about dealing with a drug kingpin, but also other a-hole parents. When one of the other dads pushes things too far and decides to get violent, he quickly learns that he took a swing at the wrong man. It's parental interference at its most extreme.

#18: Basketball Court Fight

“The Expendables” (2010)
If one guy calmly walks towards a large group, you better back down, because by action movie logic, that one dude is gonna wipe the floor with everyone. Lee Christmas is a member of a mercenary group known as the Expendables. While the work seems thrilling, it’s not exactly conducive to long-lasting relationships. When Lee goes to visit a former girlfriend, Lacy, he finds out that her new boyfriend has been abusive. That’s when you see a switch in his demeanor. Lee finds the guy with his buddies and begins showing them the finer details of the court’s concrete. The fight is so one-sided, you can’t help but marvel at Lee’s handywork.

#17: World of Play

“LG G5” Commercial (2016)
You can never have too much Jason Statham, though in this case they really are pushing it. In a highly creative, surreal and oh so entertaining promotion for the LG G5 mobile phone, we see that anyone using said phone suddenly becomes Jason Statham; men, women and children alike. As if that wasn’t enough, it then goes on to show all the various Stathams engaging in his usual action tropes, including robbing a store while wearing a mask ... of himself, and riding on top of a stampede. We always wanted more guys like Statham around; guess we got our wish.

#16: A Hallway of Bad Guys

“Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” (2019)

Take two of the best ingredients from the “Fast & Furious” franchise, and you get “Hobbs & Shaw”. Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson can easily go toe-to-toe in both likeability and action-star-mojo, and both are on display in this sequence. While Hobbs does his thing, Shaw takes down a slew of goons with expertly executed combat moves. He turns into a surgeon with batons and tasers and outmaneuvers an entire hallway of baddies. The most impressive part, though, is that he succeeds in the face of Hobbs’s sarcastic yawning and critical sideline gestures. The fact that both characters casually shrug off the badassery just makes it all seem that much more epic. Dwayne might not be impressed, Jason, but we certainly are.

#15: Bike Chase

“Transporter 3” (2008)
Never put Frank Martin in a corner, because no matter how impossible the situation he will always manage to claw his way out. In this 3rd installment of the “Transporter” franchise, the big baddie decides to dispose of Frank in a complicated way that involves a remotely explosive bracelet. With the bracelet set to explode if he gets too far from his car, Frank has to think fast when a goon makes off with his ride. Always one to rise to the challenge, Frank shows him that even without his car, the Transporter always reaches his destination. Even if it’s on a bike.

#14: Man & Knife

“The Expendables 2” (2012)
Ah, nothing beats a good pun, especially when Jason Statham is the guy dishing it out. Heavily outgunned with an enemy militia closing in on them, the Expendables set up an ambush to even the odds, one of which involves our man Lee Christmas dressing up as a monk in order to catch their attackers off guard. His disguise goes off without a hitch in the beginning, but then he delivers a rather pointy one-liner before busting out a knife and stabbing through his foes with ease. It's like he took a vow, and that vow was a vow of awesome.

#13: Kaiju Battle

“Crank: High Voltage” (2009)
We would not want to be Chev Chelios. He doesn’t even get a chance to recover from nearly plunging to his death before he ends up getting kidnapped and having his heart surgically removed. Now in pursuit of the mobsters who stole his ‘strawberry tart’, Chev finds himself getting into all sorts of painfully funny situations. The best of the best, however, has Chev chasing down one mobster through a power plant. You’d think this would turn into your average fistfight…but then it suddenly turns into a scene out of an old Godzilla film. It doesn't need to make sense. It just needs to never end.

#12: Captured

“Homefront” (2013)
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from action movies, it’s that you never mess with the protagonist’s daughter. Once you do, you’ll probably end up with a face full of dirt. Retired DEA Agent Phil Broker has been getting some unwanted attention in his new neighborhood, and when local gang members learn of his past, he winds up getting kidnapped. They torture him, almost drowning him, but then they make one fatal mistake. They threaten his daughter. Broker shows off his brutal side by taking on every single gang member in the room, breaking bones, and shaking off 2 by 4s like it’s nothing.

#11: Babysitting

“The Fate of the Furious” (2017)
When you’re looking for a partner in crime, it’s great if that someone can kick ass and parkour his way through a prison riot. And it’s even better if he’s great with kids! When Cipher uses Dom’s son as leverage to make him do some dirty work, Vin Diesel’s character enlists the help of Deckard Shaw to flip the tables. After faking his own death, Shaw infiltrates Cipher’s plane, grabs “the package”, sticks on some music for the kid, and begins to do some extreme multitasking. Deckard juggles the baby and the guys trying to kill him, and does it without getting hit once! While the kid may have had a good time, we doubt that Deckard will offer to babysit again anytime soon.

#10: Versus Jet Li

“War” (2007)

Heroes are only as badass as their villains. In their second movie matchup, Jason Statham and Jet Li lock elbows and fists in this showcase of action stars. Statham rocks it as an FBI agent in pursuit of a lethal assassin, played by Li. There’s premium stage combat at work during their climactic fight, involving lightning-quick fists, dominating kicks, and a chain around Li’s neck. They even manage to turn shovels into melee weapons…and it all just makes them both look cool. Critical response to “War” was far from stellar, but if there was one memorable moment, it was certainly this one. And in the history of Statham showdowns, there has seldom been a stronger opponent.

#9: Car Yard Fight

“Death Race” (2008)
When Jensen Ames is framed for the murder of his wife, he’s sentenced to life in prison. But the activities at this prison aren’t exactly up to code. When Jensen learns that his fellow racer Pachenko was the man who killed his wife, he walks his way through the car yard to get revenge. Unfortunately, they expect him and chain him up. A crewmate comes to his rescue however, and Statham erupts into beast mode. And when Ames loses it… he really loses it! Stabbing, punching, and crushing faces, he’s an animal. While Pachenko escapes, it shows us that he might be safer on the track of Death Race than he is off it.

#8: Killing a Megladon

“The Meg” (2018)

Would a Jason Statham resume ever be complete without “shark wrangling?” Jon Turteltaub didn’t think so, as it pitted the action star against a gargantuan prehistoric shark in his 2018 flick “The Meg”. Statham plays Jonas Taylor, a retired diver who’s tasked with rescuing the group of scientists that have unearthed the massive fish. This eventually leads to a one-on-one showdown between man and beast, with Taylor taking a lesson from LL Cool J and punching the meg in the eye. It’s a fitting climax for this campy sci-fi action romp, and Statham’s action-hero personality looms just as large as his maritime adversary. Move over, Chief Brody. There’s a new shark killer in town.

#7: Restaurant Fight

“Mechanic: Resurrection” (2016)
What is it with these badass action types? Whenever they try to retire, there’s always someone who wants to bring them back into the life. After faking his own death in the previous film, Arther Bishop is approached by someone who requires his services. Of course, when he refuses, he has to fight his way out. This is where Bishop gets ridiculously badass. Not only does he redecorate the eatery with various furniture and bad guys, but he even finds time to fry up a foe’s face! To wrap things up, he jumps off a ridiculously high cable car onto a passing hang glider! Apparently, he’s not only a fierce fighter, but also as light as a feather.

#6: Subway Fight

“Safe” (2012)
If you were to have a guardian angel, would you pick Jason Statham? After this entry, you just might! As former cop and cage fighter Luke Wright considers ending his life, he spots a little girl being chased by the same Russians who killed his pregnant wife. What follows is an absolutely brutal subway fight where Statham’s character takes on each of the henchmen in turn, even lifting one up and pulling his crotch straight into a pole. And this all comes after a stint of homelessness, so Wright likely isn’t in his best shape! You can take the beast out of the cage, but he’ll never lose his inner warrior.

#5: Burning Desire

“Crank: High Voltage” (2009)
Statham movies generally involve electrifying action scenes, but what if the electricity never stopped? Chev Chelios’ heart has been stolen (literally), leaving him with a battery pack in its place. Racing against the clock, he’s forced to pull off some ridiculous stunts, like taking a jump from a car battery. In this pulse-pounding film, Chelios runs around fighting, kidnapping, and even taking beatings from the police, all in the name of helping him juice up. But out of all the beast mode moments in this film, the most insane one is when Chev climbs an electric pole to recharge and then beats El Huron to death while his skin is burning off. Now that’s Jason unleashed.

#4: Don’t Axe Me

“The Transporter” (2002)
If you’re going to mess with Frank Martin, you better have more than metal pipes and blind confidence. This man is an unstoppable force, so when one of his clients tries to kill him after completing the job, he decides to pay them another visit. This time, he ducks, dives, and destroys everyone in the house. The slick gunfights are well and good, but it’s when two guys corner him with axes that Martin really shines. Swiftly dodging each swing from both sides, his reflexes are impossibly sharp. But of course, Transportation is a precise business, and Frank takes his job very seriously.

#3: Jason Statham vs. Dwayne Johnson

“Furious 7” (2015)
Be honest, someone would need to be on a whole other level to be able to match Jason Statham in the badass department, right? Enter Dwayne Johnson, who, as Luke Hobbs, is nothing short of a beast, and more than worthy of taking on Statham’s rogue assassin Deckard Shaw. While Shaw is gathering intel on Dom and his crew, these powerhouses end up clashing in one of the franchise’s most entertaining and hard-hitting brawls. Punches are traded, bodies are thrown, and of course the whole thing ends with an explosion. You could technically say he cheated, but hey, the Stath was the one walking away by the end of it.

#2: Back Alley Brawl

“Wild Card” (2015)
Nick Wild is a Las Vegas chaperone; he protects people during their visit to support his gambling addiction. But don’t let the job title fool you - this man is an undercover badass, slicing and dicing his way through enemies with whatever he can find. We never knew a credit card could be so lethal! In the film’s most brutal scene, Nick has been cornered by gangster Danny DeMarco outside of a diner. What ensues is a savage brawl where Jason sticks kitchen utensils in all sorts of places, even using them to stop a gun from firing! It’s bloody, brutal, and totally badass.

#1: Greased Fighting

“The Transporter” (2002)
There isn’t a fight scene in Jason Statham’s career as iconic as this epic bus station battle. So much so that they try to replicate it in the sequels! When Frank gets cornered in a bus station, it looks like he might actually be in trouble. But this man is nothing if not creative! He tips grease all over the floor and himself, sending the baddies flying on their backsides. He then steals some bike pedals and uses them to stabilize himself, delivering roundhouse kick after roundhouse kick to his opponents. It’s not until the guns come out that he has to flee, but he showed us that combining brain with brawn makes the ultimate beast.
