Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the most notable celebrity spouses who, unlike their famous partners, have no interest in the spotlight and make a living primarily outside of it. What other lowkey celebrity spouses did we miss? Let us know in the comments below.

#20: Matt Damon & Luciana Barroso

Matt Damon may be one of the biggest actors in Hollywood, but when it comes to his relationship with his wife, Luciana Barroso, he prefers to keep things low-key. It probably helps that Barroso herself seems to be a more private person. The couple tied the knot in 2005, two years after they first met while she was working as a bartender in Miami and Damon was in town to shoot a film. While Damon’s paychecks come from the big screen, Barroso has made her own living from vastly different industries. In addition to being a bartender, she also worked as a flight attendant and is now an interior designer.

#19: Michael Weatherly & Bojana Janković

For six years, Michael Weatherly played Dr. Jason Bull on the CBS legal show “Bull.” But while he only plays a doctor on TV, it is his wife, Bojana Janković, who bears the title in real life. Janković is a double board-certified physician in internal and integrative medicine who practices in the state of New York. Unlike her husband, she may not be a recognizable face in Hollywood, but she’s certainly made a mark in her own field, having earned the Top Doctor recognition in New York, in 2018 and 2019. Plus, she occasionally swaps the hospital for the small screen, sharing her health expertise as a consultant on shows like “Rachael Ray” and “Today.”

#18: Lana Del Rey & Jeremy Dufrene

In September 2024, Lana Del Rey stunned many of her fans with the announcement of her marriage to boyfriend Jeremy Dufrene. While the news seemed to come out of nowhere, the couple had actually known each other for a few years. Their story began in 2019 when Del Rey went on a swamp boat tour in Louisiana and Dufrene happened to be her guide. Afterwards, it seems like she became a regular at the tour company, Arthur’s Airboat Tours, where Dufrene works as a boat captain. As it turns out, he’s no stranger to celebrity guests, considering he also gave actor Glen Powell a ride back in 2015.

#17: Miranda Lambert & Brendan McLoughlin

Grammy-winning country star Miranda Lambert first tied the knot with fellow singer Blake Shelton in 2011, but they called it quits after four years of marriage. She then dated a few other singers but never made it down the aisle with any of them. It turns out true love was waiting outside the music scene. In 2018, Lambert met New York City cop Brendan McLoughlin while promoting her music on a morning show. About a year later, they exchanged vows. Maybe their connection was meant to be, considering Lambert’s parents also worked in law enforcement. Since they got married, McLoughlin has moved from New York to Tennessee, where he now lives with Lambert.

#16: Marcia Cross & Tom Mahoney

On TV, Marcia Cross is best known for playing the prim and proper Bree Van de Kamp on the hit ABC show “Desperate Housewives.” But while her on-screen character was married to several men, in real life, Cross has only been married once, to Tom Mahoney. The pair tied the knot in 2006 and welcomed twin daughters the following year. Despite their many shared interests, when it comes to their careers, Cross and Mahoney couldn’t be any more different. Mahoney works in the financial industry as a stockbroker. Nevertheless, he has consistently supported his wife’s acting endeavors, even encouraging her to dive back into theatrical roles in 2023.

#15: Jesse Tyler Ferguson & Justin Mikita

When “Modern Family” actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson first met his husband Justin Mikita, the latter was still studying to become a lawyer. Although they didn’t start dating right after, as Mikita was in a relationship with someone else, they reconnected months later and eventually got married in 2013. Mikita has since gotten his degree and works as a lawyer, although he still dips his toe in the entertainment world, producing the Broadway show “Take Me Out,” which won Ferguson a Tony Award. Together, they also founded a non-profit called Pronoun, which advocates for marriage equality around the world. The couple has since expanded their family, welcoming two children in 2020 and 2022.

#14: Meryl Streep & Don Gummer

In her decades-long career in the spotlight, Meryl Streep has only been publicly linked to two men. The first was fellow actor John Cazale, who tragically passed away from lung cancer in 1978. While still grieving his loss, Streep met and fell in love with her longtime husband Don Gummer, whom she married six months later. Gummer is a sculptor who graduated from the Yale School of Art, and has several commissioned works that grace various spots across the U.S. and beyond. Streep and Gummer are now the parents of four children, three of whom caught the acting bug from their mom. While they are still married, it was reported in 2023 that the couple had quietly separated.

#13: Vince Vaughn & Kyla Weber

Vince Vaughn’s first relationship was perfect fodder for the tabloids–he was dating Hollywood’s sweetheart, Jennifer Aniston, after all. When that came to an end, he went in the opposite direction, opting to find love with someone outside the industry. Vaughn met Kyla Weber, a Canadian real estate agent, at a wedding in 2008 and two years later, they were exchanging their own vows. Since then, they have kept their marriage largely out of the public eye, a refreshing change from Vaughn’s high-profile past, which he seems to relish. While Weber still works as a real estate agent, she always finds the time to join Vaughn on the red carpet at movie premieres and awards shows.

#12: Ed Sheeran & Cherry Seaborn

Ever listened to Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” and wondered who it was written about? Well, the song was inspired by his relationship with his then-girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, whom he married in 2019. Sheeran and Seaborn actually go way back, having attended the same secondary school in England. But they lost touch after she headed to the U.S. for school and he focused on his music career. They later reconnected in 2015, by which time Seaborn was working for an accounting firm on Wall Street. Since then, Seaborn has moved from New York to the firm’s London office, where she is now a manager. She is also launching her own retail brand, Babes in Armour, which will offer clothes and toiletries.

#11: John Cena & Shay Shariatzadeh

Actor and wrestler John Cena was in Vancouver, Canada shooting the 2019 film “Playing with Fire,” when he had an unexpected encounter with Shay Shariatzadeh at a restaurant. Little did he know that the casual meeting would lead to a loving marriage. Shariatzadeh was unlike Cena’s previous love interests. She was a product manager who studied engineering and was working with a software company in Vancouver. Despite the different worlds, they hit it off immediately and began dating soon after. In 2020, they got married at a private ceremony in Tampa, Florida. By all indications, Shariatzadeh prefers to keep a low profile, and just like Cena, you can’t see her, at least not in the limelight.

#10: Dolly Parton & Carl Thomas Dean

While Dolly Parton was touring the world as one of the biggest country acts in the world, her hubby, Carl Thomas Dean, was working 9 to 5 in a very different industry. Now retired, Dean used to operate his own asphalt laying company. Located in Nashville, Tennessee, the company dated back to the late 70s. After meeting at a laundromat, the two married in 1966 and have remained wed ever since. A bit of a mystery, Dean chooses to stay out of the spotlight, preserving his anonymity, while Patron continues to run her own entertainment empire.

#9: Taylor Lautner & Taylor Dome

They may share a name, but they don’t share a profession! “Twilight” star Taylor Lautner and his wife, Taylor Dome, married in November 2022 after dating for several years. Dome is a registered nurse and mental health advocate, who obtained her nursing degree in 2019. In support of her mental health advocacy, Taylor runs a website and blog, LEMONS by Tay, which is dedicated to health and self-care. In 2022, her husband shared that Dome has legally changed her last name to Lautner, which has made for some interesting travel stories.

#8: Ilana Glazer & David Rooklin

Before Ilana Glazer was cracking up audiences on “Broad City,” she was already making her future husband laugh. Meeting in Washington Square Park before she was a comedy star, the actress fell for David Rooklin, a New York based scientist. The couple met in 2012 and married quietly in 2017. More recently, the pair welcomed their first child, a girl, in 2021. Despite his science background, Rooklin also expresses his artistic side. On his instagram, the NYU grad frequently posts his own original hand drawn sketches. Seems like these two found the perfect formula for a well balanced relationship!

#7: Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Tasha McCauley

In 2014, Joseph Gordon-Levitt surprised fans when he got married in a super secret ceremony to tech entrepreneur, Tasha McCauley. The “500 Days of Summer '' actor and McCauley have kept their personal lives underwraps, but have revealed that they expanded their family by welcoming a son in 2015 and another son in 2017. In addition to being a tech CEO, McCauley is also an expert in the field of robotics. While very little is publicly known about their relationship, we love to see a happy couple living life on their own terms.

#6: Lisa Kudrow & Michel Stern

Things between television icon Lisa Kudrow and her hubby, Michel Stern, didn’t exactly get off on the right foot. Originally, the advertising exec and the “Friends” star met because he was dating Kudrow’s roommate! The future spouses found themselves both single a few years later and reunited at the roomie’s birthday party, and the rest was history! Married in 1995, the two have shared decades together, and welcomed a son in ‘98. In the past, Kudrow has credited their shared sense of independence as one of the reasons their marriage has lasted so long. We’re sure that also having two very different career paths has helped keep them intact!

#5: Jennifer Lawrence & Cooke Maroney

As one of Hollywood's biggest movie stars of recent years, Jennifer Lawrence has found a great balance between being a famous face and also keeping her private life on the DL. In 2019, the Academy Award winner married Cooke Maroney, whom she met in 2018. The New York based art gallery director met Lawrence via a mutual friend in 2018. In 2022, they welcomed their first child, a baby boy, named Cy. Although they earn their living through different means, both Lawrence and Maroney work in the arts where their shared passion of creativity is truly inspiring!

#4: Anne Hathaway & Adam Shulman

What could be more romantic than a custom made engagement that is designed by your future spouse?! Well, that’s exactly what Anne Hathaway’s hubby, jewelry designer Adam Shulman gave the actress when he popped the question. The couple were married in 2012, and Hathaway gave birth to their two sons a few years later. In addition to being a designer, Shulman has also dabbled in acting, appearing in television shows like “American Dreams.” In 2014, he added the role of co-producer to his resume, when he joined his wife on the film “Song One.” Seems like Shulman and Hathaway are a multi talented power couple!

#3: Seth Meyers & Alexi Ashe

For years, Seth Meyers has been making audiences laugh on his late night talk show. In 2008, he found someone to share his jokes with in Alexi Ashe. The comedian married the human rights lawyer in 2013 in a small but star studded wedding that included guests such as “SNL” alum Amy Poehler. Since then the couple have gone on to raise a family. Based in New York City, the happy couple balances their demanding careers, family life and living in the public eye with a sense of humor and lots of laughter.

#2: Ken Jeong & Tran Jeong

Before Ken Jeong was one of Hollywood’s most in demand comedic actors, he was playing a very different role: A doctor! Based in Los Angeles, the former internal medicine practitioner met his wife, Tran Jeong, who was also a doctor. Both working at the same hospital, their love grew as Ken aspired to change careers. Supported by Tran, the “Knocked Up” star made the leap from MD to professional actor in the late 2000s. Around the same time, the couple welcomed twin daughters. Shortly after, Tran was also diagnosed with breast cancer, which she survived. Through their ups and down, the Jeongs have remained together through their personal and professional changes, all while having each other’s back and sharing many laughs along the way.

#1: Amal Clooney & George Clooney

For years, George Clooney was Tinseltown's biggest bachelor. Just when it seemed like the Academy Award winning actor wasn’t going to settle down, he was thrown for a loop when he met human right attorney, Amal Alamuddin. Introduced by a shared friend in 2013, Clooney proposed only a few months after their first date. Hitched in a lavish Italian ceremony, the couple soon became one of Hollywood’s most glamorous pairs. In 2017, they welcomed twins. As a barrister, Amal has served on many high profile human right cases, teaches law and helped establish charities such as Clooney Foundation for Justice.
