Top 20 JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Battles

Welcome to WatchMojo and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the top 20 “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” battles.

For this list, we’ll be looking at the most exciting, creative, and epic fights from the JoJo franchise. If you’re not caught up to Part 6, there will be spoilers.

Is there a “JoJo” bout whose absence had you screaming like Joseph? Let us know in the comments!

#20: Joseph vs. Wamuu

Determined to avenge the death of best boy Caesar, Joseph finds himself once again trading blows with the Pillar Men’s proudest warrior, albeit with a somewhat gladiatorial twist.
In a battle to determine who will earn the Red Stone of Aja, Joseph and Wamuu compete in a chariot race, complete with all manner of weapons as well as vampiric horses, because why not?
Despite being seriously outgunned, JoJo finds a way to win the day by pulling off some pretty elaborate traps, reducing his friend’s killer to nothing more than a head.

#19: Giorno & Mista vs. Ghiaccio

Road trips in “JoJo” tend to go poorly, and Giorno and Mista’s drive to Venice is typically unlucky. They’re pursued by the assassin Ghiaccio. Although his Stand, White Album, gives him potent cold abilities, Ghiaccio himself is rather hot-tempered. When he’s not ranting about the Italian pronunciation of Venice, Ghiaccio ruthlessly pursues his fellow gangsters, attempting to freeze them to death. His armor proves tough to crack, but Mista’s bullet redirection and persistence manages to put Ghiaccio in a near checkmate position, although Mista sustains many injuries himself. Fortunately, like the rising sun, Giorno arrives to deliver a Gold Experience that kills the assassin with his usual flare.

#18: Weather Report vs. Pucci

The tragic story of these 2 brothers culminates in a showdown in Orlando, as most of the population is turned into snails through hypnosis caused by Weather Report’s rainbows. Yes, that actually happens. Not that it bothers Pucci, who is unaffected by Weather’s snail rainbows by voluntarily blinding himself. However, this proves a mistake, since Weather is able to form ice spikes from his own blood, repeatedly impaling Pucci and even voluntarily getting hit by them himself to entangle his hated sibling. Sadly, Weather is unable to achieve his revenge, as their fight is interrupted by Weather’s friends crashing into them at a crucial moment. Still, while it lasts, this battle of brothers is as fantastic as it is strange.

#17: Giorno vs. Cioccolata

Cioccolata may have a name that’s sweet, but this madman is anything but! The serial killer uses his Stand, Green Day, to infect the people of Rome with mold if they move downwards. Being able to dissect himself and continue to move around doesn’t make him easier to catch either, though Giorno is able to put the deranged doctor in his place with a bullet/beetle to the skull. As if that wasn’t enough, he then proceeds to give Cioccolata one of the longest, most epic beatdowns in the show’s history! Cioccolata thought he had won several times, but the victor was him - Giorno!

#16: Jolyne vs. Westwood

Jolyne Cujoh faces many challenges during her stay in Green Dolphin Street Prison. One of these includes abusive prison guards…although in this case, with a twist. Under the influence of a Stand that causes him to go berserk, prison guard Viviano Westwood kills his fellow guard and then battles Jolyne. For being a seemingly normal human up against a Stand user like Jolyne, Westwood handles himself surprisingly well. However, when Jolyne appears about to win, it’s revealed Westwood has a Stand that can attract meteorites! Still, Jolyne eventually uses this to her advantage, defeating Westwood for good. The amount of direct, hand-to-hand combat in this fight makes it refreshingly intense.

#15: Josuke vs. Otoishi

Armed with a Stand capable of manipulating electricity, Otoishi and Red Hot Chilli Pepper went on to repeatedly show Josuke the painful side of Californication. Despite being constantly outmaneuvered due to Chilli Pepper’s lightning-fast speed, the young Higashikata refused to allow the murderous teen to assassinate his father, implementing Crazy Diamond’s deconstruction ability to turn the landscape to his advantage. Given how this guy had been causing trouble for the group since the Nijimura Brothers debacle, it was bizarrely satisfying to see him melt apart before our eyes.

#14: Mista & Bucciarati vs. Prosciutto & Pesci

While Bucciarati and company are hiding inside a turtle on a speeding train to Florence (only in “JoJo”), they’re attacked by Stand users Prosciutto and Pesci. Prosciutto can make everyone around him age rapidly, while Pesci’s Stand reels in foes like a fishing rod. Mista gets taken down, but not before passing information to Bucciarati, who goes to great lengths, from throwing himself off the train to unzipping himself into smaller pieces, to beat both their foes. The train setting, strategic moves from all combatants, and even character growth on the part of the villains, makes this a fight we never want to say “arrivederci” to!

#13: Jolyne & Weather Report vs. Lang Rangler

En route to deliver her father, Jotaro’s Stand disc to save his life, Jolyne and her new friend Weather are ambushed by…some crazed guy in a monkey outfit. Rangler’s Stand, Jumpin’ Jack Flash, lets him turn gravity to zero on people and certain areas. Fortunately, Weather creates improvised cloud spacesuits and Jolyne uses her strings to wrangle Lang Rangler’s junk missiles. and letting her “ora ora” him into submission and get the disc back. The zero G nature of the fight and striking imagery help make this a great fight.

#12: Jotaro vs. Daniel J. D'Arby

Some fights don’t even need a punch thrown to be good! Daniel J. D’Arby’s Stand, Osiris, lets him steal the souls of others when they admit defeat, which he does through games of chance that he’s great at cheating at. Jotaro challenges him to a game of poker - with everyone’s souls on the line. While D’Arby takes an early lead, Jotaro counters by using mind games and a perfect poker face to get under the gambler’s skin and make him doubt himself. Finally, Jotaro raises even his mother’s soul, forcing D’Arby to match it with information on his master Dio’s Stand. Terrified of losing and risking death by Dio, D’Arby passes out from fear. This battle is a brilliant “JoJo” spin on high-stakes gambling.

#11: Risotto vs. Doppio

Risotto is a man on a mission to kill his former employer. As luck would have it, he stumbles upon Vinegar Doppio, the boss’s host/alter ego. Risotto’s Stand, Metallica, lets him manipulate iron to form metal objects and turn invisible, giving him the initial advantage against Doppio. However, Doppio making increased use of his/the boss’s Stand, King Crimson, lets him see/erase the future. Ultimately, Doppio’s clever use of both his and his opponent’s powers allows him to trick Risotto into getting killed by Narancia, one of Bucciarati’s men. This villain vs. villain fight stands out not only for the matchup, but also brings greater gravitas to the boss’s cruelty absolute willingness to remain hidden no matter what.

#10: Caesar vs. Wamuu

One of the franchise’s most heart-breaking moments, the death of Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli brought an end to what had been one hell of a bromance, but at least he went out like a champ. Despite managing to corner Wamuu thanks to the ferocious power of his bubble launcher, he still ends up falling victim to the Pillar Man’s Divine Sandstorm, getting ripped to shreds in the process. However, no amount of hemorrhaging is enough to stop the Italian stallion from making one last action, channeling the last of his Hamon into a single bubble so Joseph can continue the fight in his stead.

#9: Jonathan vs. Dio

The feud that started it all. Before the introduction of Stands and the rest of the fashionably questionable Joestar lineage, there was only this bulky Englishman and his goal of defeating the man who he once regarded as a brother. After fighting his way through all manner of zombies, JoJo finally confronts his vampiric nemesis, leading to a final clash that’s a far cry from their youthful days of fisticuffs. While Dio’s regenerative and freezing abilities certainly present quite the challenge, they’re no match for the likes of JoJo’s mastery of Hamon. You don’t mess with a gentleman that’s built like a brick shithouse.

#8: Iggy vs. Pet Shop

Every dog has its day, though who would have guessed that Iggy’s would have involved fighting against a killer bird that can barf ice. After finally locating Dio’s stronghold, Iggy gets more than he bargained for when he discovers its being guarded by the most terrifying falcon in anime, one that just so happens to be fond of devouring its prey after it impales them with icicles. What follows is a deadly game of cat and mouse (well, bird and dog) as Iggy desperately tries to elude Pet Shop’s seemingly unstoppable Stand. Thankfully, it's nothing a little chomp can’t solve.

#7: Jotaro & Koichi vs. Kira

While Dio will forever be an icon of anime villainy, there’s no denying that Yoshikage Kira came damn close to reaching that pedestal, especially with fights like this. In one fell swoop, the mass murderer and his Killer Queen managed to pulverize Koichi and blow enough holes in Jotaro’s body that he was practically turned into swiss cheese. That’s not to say he doesn’t get his comeuppance, as Koichi’s psychological warfare and Jotaro’s last second comeback results in an oh so satisfying beatdown.

#6: Iggy & Polnareff vs. Vanilla Ice

You wouldn’t have thought a guy with a name like that and a Stand called Cream could possibly be anything more than comic relief, but you’d be sorely mistaken. As Dio’s most dedicated and lethal follower, this vampire proved himself to be the toughest opponent that Polnareff has faced, and need we remind you he’s been messed up by a LOT of weirdos. Able to drag the bodies of his victims into an endless void, Vanilla Ice not only managed to obliterate Avdol, but also put an end to our precious pooch too. This was truly a desperate struggle for our heroes, and we’re honestly surprised our favorite Frenchman managed to survive!

#5: Giorno vs. Diavolo

Giorno and company’s battle against their villainous boss Diavolo leads them all into a final conflict over the Stand-creating arrow, only for Giorno to get his hands on it first - and in doing so evolve his Stand into the unstoppable Gold Experience Requiem. Diavolo’s time erasure powers initially appear superior still…at least, until even they’re undone. Requiem can do a control Z on cause and effect. After some punches to hammer home how “useless” his efforts are now, Diavolo is subjected to infinite deaths for eternity! Giorno and Diavolo’s clash isn’t long), but it sees the debut of arguably the series’ strongest Stand, whilst also raising questions on the meaning of fate.

#4: Joseph vs. Kars

After successfully gaining the Red Stone of Aja, Kars finally succeeded in his goal of becoming the ultimate lifeform, one who could summon and manipulate life as he sees fit. Faced with these odds, the young Joestar pulls out his ace in the hole - running away - leading to an epic final battle on an active volcano. Things go from bad to real damned bad, as Kars’s newfound powers have an answer for everything…save for a series of events that send him rocketing into the vacuum of space. To win such an impossible battle with sheer luck… is simply the most Joseph Joestar thing imaginable.

#3: Josuke vs. Kira

It took numerous arcs and a multitude of hairstyles, but in the end we finally got the battle we had been waiting for; a no holds barred slugfest between the Joestar descendant and the serial killer who just wants to live life like a plant. With Killer Queen’s multitude of ways to cause explosions as well as Crazy Diamond’s handy healing capabilities, this fight was pitch perfect in terms of pacing and impact. Despite being something of an eel known to slip away after each defeat, Seeing Kira finally get surrounded might just be the best pay-off in JoJo history.

#2: Everyone vs. Pucci

This fight may not take the top spot, but in terms of consequences, it’s in a league of its own! Jolyne, Jotaro, and their remaining allies all battle Pucci at Cape Canaveral. Unfortunately, Pucci’s Stand has evolved and he gains the power to accelerate time for all non-living things. As time moves faster and faster, Pucci manages to kill Jotaro, Ermes, Anasui, and Jolyne, leaving only young Emporio alive. The battle has titanic effects, not only because of all the character death, but also because Pucci effectively creates another universe by accelerating to a Big Bang! Ultimately, it’s left to Emporio who uses Weather Report’s borrowed Stand to finally put an end to the mad priest and avenge his lost friends - and universe.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

F.F. vs. Pucci

Kakyoin vs. Dio

Jotaro vs. Kakyoin

Ermes vs. Sports Maxx

Josuke & Jotaro vs. Rats
Who Knew Pest Control Was This Exciting?

#1: Jotaro vs. Dio

Taking up the mantle handed down by Jonathan and Joseph, the decades old feud between the Joestars and their immortal foe finally came to an end with this ultimate Stand off, and holy hell was it incredible. Yes, Jotaro pulling off the time stop was a surprise, but the real highlight was the beautiful brutality of seeing Star Platinum and The World exchange blows. Dio may have had unlimited power at his fingertips, but he unfortunately forgot the number one rule; you don’t piss off Jotaro Kujo.
