Top 20 Times Anime Went TOO FAR

“Golden Boy” (1995-96)

We’ve all had moments where we’ve maybe been a little too lewd, maybe even fantasized about someone a million times out of our league, but only Kintaro has ever let his desires get so intense he decided to…roleplay them with a toilet. Sure, his boss rocking a loose, leather top so her hungolomghnonoloughongous are easily visible is a bit of a distraction, but did he really have to get freaky with the lavatory? Apparently so. Which is made a million times worse when he gets caught…

“Watamote” (2013)

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying dating sims. There’s nothing wrong with finding a character’s voice particularly alluring. Unfortunately, Tomoko decided to take things one step further. After getting her favorite voice actor to record some rather…derogatory lines, Tomoko edits together a NSFW recording for her own audio pleasure that leans into her particular brand of kink. Too bad she forgot to plug in her headphones. Leading to her mother hearing the lewd performance in its entirety. Yeah, we’d want the ground to swallow us up too.

“Interspecies Reviewers” (2020)

We know, we know. The whole point, premise and personality of this anime is wrapped up in the kinky monster girls and sex jokes. We get it, and we wholeheartedly embrace it. Except for the egg show. We’re not trying to kink shame anyone but…actually, yeah, we are kink shaming the male monsters who made us spend a whole episode watching certain monster girls…make eggs appear. Never thought we’d say this but, can we please go back to the brothels filled with minotaur girls now? We feel safer there.

“Prison School” (2015)

Even with the fact that this school has its own dungeon and its student council have the right to enact corporal punishment, nothing compares to this moment as Gokuto takes one for the team. In order to ensure their master plan of escaping their imprisonment is a success, the boys need a soundbite of a flatulent. When that fails, Gakuto takes matters into his own hands…and records it live…in the middle of class…where he also follows through and accidentally defecates for all to see. There’s no coming back from that.

“Naruto” series (2002-17)

Don’t get us wrong, Sakura’s debut here was also awful, as it showcased how shallow she was with her one-sided obsession with Sasuke. But we can’t just gloss over the fact that Naruto tried to pull a fast one on her by disguising himself as Sasuke and nearly scored himself a kiss. That’s despicable behavior. And he would have gone through with it if not for a convenient case of diarrhea. There’s plenty of things wrong with this love triangle on all sides, but this is definitely Naruto at his most immature.

“Gintama” (2006-18)

The shogun really gets put through the ringer over the course of Gintoki’s absurdist adventures, but this might be the tipping point. Not only do the gang accidentally lop off his hair, but their efforts to cover it up make things ten times worse. By the end of the ordeal, the Shogun has been puked on, has his face stretched back, and had his hair replaced with a combination of another man’s pubic hair, as well as golden retriever crap. There are bad hair days and then there’s this!

“One Piece” (1999-)

I mean…that’s certainly one way to convince someone to join your crew. With Franky stubbornly refusing to leave with the Straw Hats, and put on any underwear, Robin decides to take matters into her own hands. Or should we say – she takes Franky’s apples and pears into her Devil Fruit’s clutches. Even for a cyborg, getting your gonads grasped in such a manner is utter hell. Maybe this was Oda’s way of balancing the placing field after all of Nami’s flashing?

“Pokemon” (1997-)

Yes, the likelihood of this being intentional is minute, but come on! It’s an Ampharos barebacking a poor Mareep over and over again! How did no one at Poke-HQ catch this?! In order to try and get a herd of the electric sheep to shuffle from their spot, Ampharos does its best to physically remove them. It doesn’t go well. Not only does it fail to make them budge, but the angle makes it look like it's giving the Mareep the thunder down under. Was Pokemon always this hardcore?

“Asobi Asobase” (2018)

What happens when you have to keep up the lie that you're a fluent English speaker? In Olivia’s case, she has a robot duplicate of herself commissioned. On the plus side, it actually speaks some of the best English we’ve heard in an anime. The downside is that its vocabulary consists of vulgar slang, curse words and a desire to kill anyone who impedes its foul-mouthed nature. Olivia wanted a linguistic automaton, and what she got was a self-aware sex doll.

“Golden Kamuy” (2018-)

Did you know that sea otter was the key ingredient in making the most potent aphrodisiac known to man? Apparently so, if this scene is anything to go by. After chowing down on some sea critter stew, Sugimoto and his fellow miscreants find themselves getting hot under the collar. As such, it doesn't take long before clothes start coming off and the whole thing suddenly devolves into an r-rated piece of fanfiction. If you enjoy muscle bros flexing their chests and perpetually being one step away from an orgy…have at it. Seriously, what was this scene?

“Baki” series (2000-23)

Baki itself is an enigma wrapped in a meme sprinkled with badassery. And yet it still finds ways to surprise us with just how…out there it can be. Case and point, Jun Guevaru randomly rolling onto the scene, dropping his trou, and letting loose a golden shower on the likes of three, creepy, doll-like assassins. And in case you were wondering, yes, like all things Baki, Guevaru is just a cheap stand in for an actual historical figure. Never thought we’d see Che Guevara unloading a waterspout’s worth of urine as a flex, but again, this is Baki.

“JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” (2012-22)

Granted, if we had been nearly killed in our dreams by a scythe wielding clown courtesy of a Stand User, we’d want some payback too. Given that said Stand User was an infant, pummeled it to death would have been too much, even for Araki. However, Kakyoin found a loophole. A really disgusting one at that. After threatening the demon child’s life, he mixes their feces with their breakfast. You can guess where it goes from there. It might be a step down from child murder but it’s still nasty to watch!

“KonoSuba” (2016-)

Do we really expect anything less from Kazuma? Sure, activating a relic that made him swap bodies with the young princess Iris was a legitimate accident. Everything that happened afterwards? All him. Taking the chance to get up close with both Darkness and Claire, he decides to play into his now childish charm and hops into a bath with the two of them, getting a front row view to all peaks and valleys present. Naturally it bites him in the ass by the end, but this is still Kazuma reaching new levels of low.

“Dragon Ball Super” (2015-18)

A problem with his instant transmission ability leads Goku to teleporting all over the planet…only to lead him into the worst place one could go. Right into the bedroom of a fellow Saiyan’s wife. He could have tried teleporting away ASAP, but nope, he decides to stick around just as Bulma was getting out of the shower, and just to add insult to injury, comments that her chest game is now lacking. And this is why Vegeta is and always will be the better husband.

“Oreimo” (2010-13)

We’re not sure what riles us up more here. The fact this anime fully embraced the incest train to such a ridiculous degree, or that Kirino herself is such a terrible romance option compared to even when measured up against those in her own show! Alas, Kyosuke’s all in on the full-blood relation fun times. Instead, they throw a fake wedding to celebrate their love, since their parents assumedly will never approve of their coupling. May your children be horribly mutated.

“Chainsaw Man” (2022)

Poor Denji. No luck in life or with the ladies. Though for a shining moment, it looked like that luck might have changed. After a few drinks following their victory over the Eternity Demon, Himeno decides to hold up her end of the bargain and drunkenly makes a move on him, leading to a heavy make out session. Sadly, it turns out she’s had one too many…since she then proceeds to vomit mid-kiss. Well, we can add that to the ever-expanding list of Denji’s traumas.

“Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters” (2000-04)

We can’t believe this made it to air, even the 4Kids version! As their overdue rematch in Duellist Kingdom comes to a close, Kaiba takes desperate measures to ensure he wins against Yugi and has the chance to save his brother. Does he take a gamble on a crazy dueling strategy? Pull out yet another Blue Eyes White Dragon? Nope! He threatens to end himself if Yugi goes for the winning attack. It’s Kaiba being the sorest of sore losers, and it somehow wins him the game!

“Shimoneta” (2015)

This is what happens when you suppress natural urges and aren’t allowed to express them in a healthy manner. In a future where all things even remotely raunchy are deemed as contraband, perfect student Anna has the sexual awakening of a lifetime following her encounter with bland lead character no. 1. In the wake of this, her lust goes out of control…eventually leading to her trying to share her affections by mixing her “love nectar” in with cookies. The worst part is that this whole scene definitely became someone’s fetish.

“The End of Evangelion” (1997)

We told you to get in the robot Shinji! Not crank one out!

“Monogatari” series (2009-)

You won’t be able to look at a toothbrush the same way again. Amidst all the battles and surrealist commentary, Araraki takes some much needed time to…brush his sister’s teeth? The whole thing turns very awkward very quickly when it becomes clear that the exchange is essentially foreplay, with the two of them getting way too into it. Given how long the scene goes on for, it will make you question what and why you’re subjecting yourself to this in the first place!
