Top 3 Things You Missed In Secret Invasion Episode 1
#3: AI Intro
Chances are you found the opening credits sequence incredibly strange. And this was intentional, as director Ali Selim wanted it to reflect the shape-shifting nature of the Skrulls. But it’s how the visuals were created that’s causing controversy. Sure, it doesn’t take a leap in logic to see that the images were made using AI programs. It definitely achieves the desired effect, but some take issue with its use at all. For one thing, they cite that this decision took away jobs from graphic designers that could’ve made something similar. And with the current writers strike so entrenched in the prospect of AI, this definitely comes at a sensitive time. It’ll be interesting to see how Marvel responds with five episodes to go.
#2: Art Dealer in a Memory Probe
As we get a tour of New Skrullos, we see what Gravik’s uprising is cooking as they place humans in memory probes so they can steal more than just their features. Of course, we first saw a similar probe in “Captain Marvel” when Talos used one on Carol Danvers while trying to locate Mar-Vell. Later in the episode, we’re introduced to a Skrull who’s taken the identity of art dealer Vasily Poprishchin as part of their arms plot. Sure, it makes complete sense that the real Vasily would be in one of these probes, but we’re guessing you missed him on-screen earlier as G’iah passed by. Now we’ve gotta keep our eyes peeled for the other humans in the probes.
#1: The Falsworth MCU History
The “Secret Invasion” cast is absolutely stacked, including Olivia Colman as a high-ranking MI6 operative named Sonya Falsworth. While Sonya’s greater impact on the show remains to be seen, her surname may be a hint at her family’s MCU history. In the WWII-set “Captain America: The First Avenger,” Steve Rogers fights alongside the Howling Commandos, one of whom is a Brit named James Montgomery Falsworth. This connection may not be addressed, but we’re guessing the common name isn’t a coincidence, meaning Sonya may be a direct descendant. While she’s an original character, the Falsworths actually have a rich comics presence, with James Montgomery being the first Union Jack. Either way, we can definitely sense that Sonya has more than a few secrets.
