#30: The Batgod

Batman Ninja (2018)

In one of Batmans more bizarre movies, the Dark Knight, his villains, and his closest allies are trapped in feudal Japan. In the final battle, Joker pulls out a giant mecha. What does the Bat counter with? An army of monkeys... You heard that right. The monkeys come together to form an enormous monkey samurai, able to withstand the Jokers missiles AND pack a punch. Just when it looks like Joker has the upper hand, a swarm of bats merges with the monkeys to form a kaiju-sized Batman, known only as the Batgod. The Dark Titan withstands the Jokers flames and incapacitates him with one devastating punch... What else would you expect from a GIANT Batman?

#29: Losing Control Post-Retirement

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 (2013)

The biggest downside to Batman coming out of retirement is that now The Joker has a reason to live again. Once he hears about the Dark Knights return, he snaps out of his catatonic state and immediately goes on a killing rampage across Gotham. Tired of pulling his punches, Batman has a batarang lodged in the clowns eye before chasing him into the Tunnel of Love. In one swift motion, the Bat paralyzes Joker from the neck down, and the twisted Clown finishes the job by breaking his own neck. Batman's only response is to spit on the corpse, forced to live with the fact that even if he didnt kill Joker, he still gave him what he wanted.

#28: Threatening the Joker

Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (2000)

A haunting flashback shows what happened during Batmans final battle with the Joker. The Clown had kidnapped Robin and transformed him into Joker Junior. He then torments Batman with a home movie showing how he tortured Robin, revealing that he knows the Bats identity, and mocking his tragic backstory. At last, the Bat has had enough. He goes on the attack, wailing into Joker to the point of drawing blood, and outright threatening to break him in two. This was undeniably DCAU Jokers most despicable deed, and it proved that you can only push the Bat so far before he gets vicious. However, in the end, its Robin who finishes off the Joker for everything hes been put through.

#27: Plan Fenrir

Batman: Endgame (2014-15)

Being the worlds greatest detective, Batman has a contingency plan for each one of the Justice League members in case something ever goes wrong. One day, things go horribly wrong when the Justice League is infected with Joker toxin, and theyre all gunning for Batman. However, the Bat came prepared with the enormous Justice Buster Batsuit. This robotic armor allows him to go toe-to-toe with the rest of the league and successfully incapacitate Wonder Woman, Flash, and Aquaman. Sadly, the armor is no match for Superman, but Batman still takes him down by spitting kryptonite gum in his face. Only Batman is bold enough to take on four metahumans and live to tell the tale.

#26: Lets Get Nuts!!

Batman (1989)

The Joker has just invaded Vicki Vales apartment and has her and Bruce Wayne cornered. Bruce, however, isnt so easily frightened. Instead, he calmly tells the Joker a story about a man who went crazy, before swiftly smashing a vase, screaming at the top of his voice, Lets get nuts!!! However, Joker promptly shoots Bruce and walks away; thankfully, Bruce comes prepared and sneaks away unharmed. Even if he was just faking insanity, it still made us jump when he went medieval on the vase. The fact that Michael Keaton improvised the iconic outburst made it even more effective in shocking everyone.

#25: Brutalizing Falcone

Batman: The Telltale Series (2016)

Depending on your choices throughout the game, the Bat can get vicious with his enemies. For example, near the end of episode one, Batman goes to confront Carmine Falcone face to face, and Gotham is watching him live on the air. If the Bat chooses to be brutal, he impales Falcone on an iron pipe until he spills the beans. While he got his answers, he went beyond his usual scare tactics. He left lasting damage on the crime boss, and all of Gotham witnessed firsthand as he became the ruthless vigilante everyone expected him to be. The worst part is that we only have ourselves to blame for choosing to brutalize Falcone.

#24: Fearless Bruce

The New Batman Adventures (1997-99)

Rather than his trademarked fear toxin, the Scarecrow has developed one that actually removes fear... and Bruce has become the newest guinea pig. While pursuing the Scarecrow, he ends up in a cage with two enormous crocodiles who drag him under the water. Blood ripples throughout the water, but Bruce emerges perfectly unharmed... while the dead crocodile floats to the top. His being able to take on two fully-grown reptiles isnt the most shocking part. What REALLY surprises us is seeing him actually cross the line, even if it was because of Scarecrows influence. It really makes us appreciate his no-killing rule a lot more when hes back to normal.

#23: Batman Falls Apart

Injustice (2021)

In a swift freak accident, Damien Wayne has accidentally killed Dick Grayson. Batman reluctantly carries his fallen former sidekick away while denouncing his actual son. When he gets back to the Batcave, Batman takes out his aggression on a training dummy, punching it until his knuckles bleed. Thankfully, Catwoman arrives to comfort him, allowing him to fall apart in her arms. If she hadnt been there to calm him, who knows how Bruce wouldve kept beating that training dummy? Were not sure which would have broken first the dummy or his fists- and given everything hes been through, its best not to think about it.

#22: A Bat in the Belfry

Batman (1989)

Its the final act in the ongoing battle against the Joker; the clown has taken Vicki Vale hostage, and the Bat is coming for him. The Bat relentlessly battles through the cathedral, walking through Jokers goons, and even tossing one to his death. He finally confronts the Clown and hes not pulling any punches the Joker killed his parents, and hes looking to return the favor. You could call this an empty threat, but since he had no qualms killing a henchman, seeing him relentlessly wail into the Clown showed that he wasnt kidding. This scene proved once and for all that Michael Keatons Batman is not one to take lightly.

#21: Interrogating the Joker

The Dark Knight (2008)

Interrogating The Joker about Harvey Dent and Rachels location is proving fruitless, so Gordon decides to bring in the big guns Batman. From the start, the Bat proves that hes not playing games by slamming Jokers head into the table and then smacking his hand down. He keeps pressing for info on Harveys location, but the Joker just dances around the questions, getting under the vigilantes skin more and more. Eventually, Batman has had enough, tossing Joker about and beating him into the glass. Meanwhile, Joker is having the time of his life toying with the Bat. In the end, the Bats savage interrogation didnt really help, as the Clowns master plan is still right on schedule.

#20: Terrifying Henchmen at the Docks

Batman Begins (2005)

In Batman Begins, Bruce Wayne formally introduces Gotham to the dark knight with a terrifying display of vigilantism. A bunch of criminals loyal to crime boss Carmine Falcone are moving illegal wares on the docks. Suddenly, one of them disappears into the darkness. As the scene continues, more of the gangsters fall victim to the mysterious attacker. Its only when the henchmen are truly terrified that Batman reveals himself. He takes them out with a whirlwind of blows, so quickly and efficiently that they don't even have time to hit him back. After all the gang members are down, he ends his intimidating introduction with two legendary words: (Im Batman).

#19: Roughing Up the Red Hood

Batman: Under the Red Hood (2010)

After a Lazarus Pit brings former Robin Jason Todd back to life, he becomes a vigilante that doesnt mind killing. When Batman fails to talk sense into his old sidekick, he decides to beat some sense into the younger fighter instead. The dark knight keeps relatively calm until their battle leads to a bathroom. Once there, Batman snaps and starts destroying Jason and the room. The dark knight breaks several fixtures with his former sidekicks face. And to end their fight, Batman punches his protege through a wall. If the reveal that Joker had been captured didnt distract Bruce, Jason mightve needed another Lazarus Pit to recover from his mentors beating.

#18: Nearly Breaking His One Rule

Batman: Hush (2019)

The dark knights patience was pushed past its breaking point when he discovered his childhood friend Tommy Elliot was lying dead at the Jokers feet. Batman wasted no time before he started hitting the clown with all his might. During this brutal beating, the Joker keeps insisting that hes innocent. But Batman ignores his enemys pleas and keeps inflicting pain. Bruces lack of calm and words make him feel like a wild animal. Although his beastly scene couldve ended with Jokers death, Jim Gordon pulls Bruce back from the brink. Weve seen Batman beat the clown silly in movies like Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. However, his harsh actions towards the Joker in Batman: Hush felt a lot more brutal.

#17: Recapturing His Rogues Gallery

The Batman (2004-08)

Thanks to the actions of a vigilante named Rumor, Batman and Robin are forced to fight a bunch of their rogues gallery at once. Fortunately, the heroes were up for the challenge. Batman knocks fierce opponents like Black Mask and Killer Croc aside with just a few blows. He also manages to capture Riddler and Freeze with strength and strategy. While Batman needs an assist from Robin to nab the remaining rogues, the dark knight gets a lot done solo. The fact that he bested some of Gothams most dangerous criminals without breaking a sweat proved hes leagues above them. Batman never has to get ready to stop these rogueshes always ready.

#16: Dealing Out a Dose of Vengeance

The Batman (2022)

Almost every criminal who gets on the bad side of Robert Pattinsons Batman finds themselves at the mercy of the heros relentless blows. While most of the Gotham Gang he fights and Penguins henchmen get knocked around, one thug gets an especially severe punishment. After defeating most of Riddlers goons, Batman is shot at close range and seems done for the day. But the sight of Catwoman in peril pushes him to inject himself with a vial. In an instant, Batmans beast mode activates and he unleashes all his fury on the last goon. Hes so amped up that he nearly decks Jim Gordon! While fans debated what was in the vial, it undoubtedly gave this Batman enough energy to utterly wreck his enemies.

#15: Avenging His Parents

Batman: The Brave and the Bold (2008-11)

Although Joe Chill initially got away with shooting Bruce Waynes parents, both karma and the dark knight caught up with him. While the gunman was selling weapons to supervillains, Batman arrives and takes out every single rogue in the room to get to his target. Bruce followed up that impressive feat by absolutely beating Joe Chill senseless. Batman moves so fast that Joe Chill doesnt have time to land a single hit. And after the hero shows the gunman mercy, the dark knight gets out his remaining rage by beating up multiple supervillains again! Batmans thirst for vengeance clearly wasnt quenched after he avenged his parents.

#14: Fighting the Foot Ninja Clan Solo

Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2019)

Batmans first fight in this fun team-up film is arguably his most impressive. When he discovers that members of the foot Ninja Clan are trying to steal from his company, he decides to take them on without backup. Before we can blink, Batmans already left a dozen ninjas unconscious at his feet. But those foot soldiers are just a warmup for his tense clash with their leader, Shredder. The two extremely skilled fighters trade brutal blowsneither giving an inch. Shredder ultimately has to use a special technique to take Batman out of the fight and escape. Although Batman doesn't walk away from this melee victorious, he still put up a heck of a fight.

#13: Slaughtering a SWAT Team

Titans (2018-2023)

While Dick Grayson is stuck in a twisted fantasy, he learns that hes trapped inside with a Batman thats willing to kill his enemies. The first Robin eventually helps Starfire and a swat team capture the crooked dark knight at Wayne Manor. Unfortunately, the very bad Batman refused to be taken alive. The Dark Knight murders every member of the swat team in just a few minutes of screentime. And when the powerful Starfire shows up to help, Batman freezes her to death with a cold gun. The Dark Knight only stops slaughtering people when they blow up his manor and send rubble raining down on him. Dicks nightmare sequence gave us a glimpse of how many people could die if Batman ever broke down.

#12: Crushing the Court of Owls

Batman vs. Robin (2015)

A once loyal Court of Owls warrior named Talon thought he had an advantage when he sent an undead horde of his predecessors after Batman. However, the villain didnt realize that Batman could really cut loose against zombies. Batman breaks limbs, beats down foes and even blows enemies up. When his strength alone isnt enough to finish the army, he hops into a big robot and slays them more efficiently. And Batman still left enough gas in the tank to clip the living Talons wings. If the dark knights always this savage when fighting zombies, we hope he gets to combat the walking dead more often.

#11: Putting Down Parademons

Zack Snyders Justice League (2021)

Shortly after the dark knight single handedly broke an alien force field, he volunteered to fight an army of parademons solo. While the other Justice League members step in to lend assistance, Batman still takes out an impressive number of aliens on his own. He gunned down tons of enemies with his batmobiles artillery. After Batmans vehicle was pushed to its limit, he dodged lasers, threw gadgets and exploded enemies until he got his hands on extraterrestrial weapons. While the dark knight wasnt as physically powerful as his superhuman allies, he proved why he deserved to stand among them. Batman never let his human limits keep him away from the fight.

#10: Defeating His Evil Doppelganger

Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths (2010)

In Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, the heroes are forced to fight their evil doppelgangers. Batmans sinister counterpart is Owlman, a villain who aims to destroy the entire Multiverse with a bomb. And so the fate of everyone in existence comes down to this epic fight. Batman has to beat a villain who has all the gadgets, intelligence, and martial arts skills of Batman. And he has to do it with a recently broken rib. Regardless, he manages to turn the fight around at the last second. He then sends Owlman and the bomb to an unpopulated earth with an awesome one-liner. While Batman's doppelganger was a tough opponent, our hero proved that no evil equivalent can top the original Dark Knight.

#9: Mixing It Up With the Mutant Leader

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 (2012)

Admittedly, a middle aged Batman nearly died when he first tangled with the monstrous mutant leader. But the fact didnt stop the hero from breaking his hulking opponent out of prison to get a rematch. During their second encounter, Batman evens the playing field by taking the fight to a mud pit. By slowing down the mutant leader, the aging dark knight is able to focus on slowly and deliberately inflicting pain. He gains ground with each punch and precision strike. To top it all off, Batman lets the Mutant leader know who will be victorious with a badass boast. By winning a lopsided rematch, the dark knight earned the respect of bystanders who forgot he was a beast.

#8: Keaton Bat Beatdown

The Flash (2023)

In an alternate universe, Michael Keatons Batman has long since retired as the Bat. He reluctantly dons the cowl again to help the two Flashes find Superman at a Russian prison. He swoops in and makes short work of the guards: knocking several out with his batarangs, deflecting their bullets with his cape, and rendering most of them unconscious with his hands and feet. Even after three decades, Keatons Batman is a beast on the battlefield, and not even highly trained military soldiers stand a chance when he enters the scene.

#7: Besting Bane

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

The first time Batman fought Bane, the musclebound villain broke the heros back. But after some unconventional rehabilitation, hes ready for a rematch. Bane once again proves to be a fearsome and relentless fighter, but this time Batman is determined and strong enough to take every hard hit and return the favor. By finding and targeting Bane's one weak spot, the hero is finally able to overcome the powerful villain. And because this is Batman we're talking about, he can't resist cementing his tremendous victory with an iconic line. This win proved once and for all that while you can break Batmans body, theres no breaking his mind or spirit.

#6: Attacking Amanda Wallers Black Ops Team

Batman: Assault on Arkham (2014)

Amanda Waller thought sending a black ops team would be enough to take the Riddler down permanently. But her plans are quickly ruined when Batman shows up to capture the villain alive. The Caped Crusader begins by taking out the lights to disorient his opponents, then proceeds to take them down. Batman moves with insane speed, power, and precision. Although the heavily armed team outnumbers him ten to one, they barely manage to touch him. Batman makes the trained professionals look like kids playing dress-up. If Amanda Waller had any doubts that the Dark Knight was a threat before, his brutal black-ops takedown convinced her that hes a force to be reckoned with. He later solidified he was a threat by tearing apart her very own Suicide Squad.

Despite the pain and hallucinations, the Dark Knight still manages to take on a dozen of Scarecrows crazed followers. He knocks out enemies with a single blow, dodges weapons, and even slices a metal pipe in half. Batman doesn't take a break until the cardinal is safe on the surface with Jim Gordon. Seeing the dark knight fight massive amounts of pain and villains at the same time was simply incredible.

#4: Chasing the Joker

The Dark Knight (2008)

When Joker demands that Batman unmask himself, Harvey Dent claims that he is the hero, and is attacked by Joker. Batman uses his tank-like batmobile to help keep his ally safe. Even when Joker damages his ride with an RPG missile, the Dark Knight refuses to give up. He jumps on his Batpod and rides like a...well, bat out of hell. As soon as Batman spots Jokers truck, he uses some wires and clever thinking to flip it over in an epic crash. Although Gordon is the one who ultimately arrests the Joker, the commissioner wouldnt have had the chance if it wasnt for Batman. This is Batman at his most unflinchingly determined.

#3: Escaping the SWAT Team

Batman: Year One (2011)

Not every commissioner loves having a masked vigilante in Gotham. Commissioner Loeb hated the concept so much that he dropped a bomb on a building where Batman was recovering from a gunshot wound.
