Ever wonder who broke character the most on SNL? Join us as we count down the funniest moments when the cast just couldn't keep it together! From legendary comedians like Bill Hader and Jimmy Fallon to iconic hosts like Ryan Gosling, these unforgettable breaks have become part of SNL history. Watching performers fight through giggles makes these sketches even more hilarious! Our countdown includes "More Cowbell," Stefon's Halloween appearances, "Matt Foley: Van Down by the River," "Close Encounter," "Debbie Downer," and many more side-splitting moments that had both cast and audience in stitches. Which SNL break had you laughing the hardest? Let us know in the comments!

#50: Trauma Support Group

Somehow Bill Burrs group leader is not the most startling part of this sketch. While the host and his wig are a highlight, the most entertaining moment comes from Bowen Yangs character. His tough guy ruins the meeting, eats all the donuts, and cant stand the others. Yang is deep into this aggro role until he puts a cigarette out on Ashley Padillas leg. The latter actress reacts accordingly, but it seems to startle her co-star into a laugh. Both performers end up having to recover after the loud break in the action. If youre not paying attention, this shocking turn will certainly wake you up.

#49: Church on Vacation

On his SNL episode, Shane Gillis brought out his irreverent side. This sketch makes him a father that takes his family to a Jamaican church. They might be on vacation, but that doesnt mean that theyre going to miss out on a Sunday service. Gillis tries his hand at some patois before breaking later in the sketch. Right before he finally loses it, he gives his best attempt at an accent again before chuckling to himself. The surrounding chaos and stellar performances only make it more obvious that something might happen. With Heidi Gardner giving a solid reaction, the host locks in after having a moment of laughter.

#48: One Uppers

At a dinner between friends, Jack Blacks guest arrives to do some not-so humble brags. These are all accompanied by a signature look and bird screech. The reactions are lovably dumb, but they only ratchet up in intensity as Bowen joins the scene. Throughout the action, the performers crack up as their co-stars try to find the camera. Black shows off his dedication as the skit takes a few more absurd turns. The sound effects and angles are a little off, making the sketch that much funnier. You can tell that the cast members are barely hanging in there. With so many different camera shots, they cant hide their faces either.

#47: Lisa from Temecula: Sports Bar

After a successful first sketch, the show decided to try it again a few more times. This version is once again funny and full of breaking like the original. With host Josh Brolin, the skit seems to be going well until Bowen Yang cant take it anymore. Theres already some small cracks before the entire comedy dam bursts. Ego Nwodims lines and enunciation start a domino effect with Yang. Its already such a goofy sketch, but the giggling only makes it all the more memorable. You can always count on someone laughing when Lisa from Temecula shows up.

#46: George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush Go Hunting

Sharing some quality time together, this father and son duo spend a day in the forest. This sketch is also an excuse for two SNL titans to work together. While Dana Carvey and Will Ferrell might be heavyweights, they have to deal with an apparent slip-up. The older Bush makes a motion like hes going to slap the younger one. When no sound effect comes, both comedians have a moment of shock before continuing the sketch. Carvey and Ferrell pick up the pieces and do some improvisation. Using their professional skills, the duo know how to roll with the punches despite this hiccup.

#45: New Wife

While hes better known for his Curb Your Enthusiasm persona, SNL lets Larry David try out different roles. This one is especially funny for how far he gets from his neurotic stereotype. As a strange man with a new wife, his character tries to impress the other party goers. He holds it all together before he crumbles in the final minutes. David has some ridiculous dialogue to say, making it even harder to get the words out. His giggly nature makes this wild part especially difficult near the end. You might not even find the lead-up amusing, but the Seinfeld creator certainly gives it one last comedic stamp.

#44: Doctor

This might be the most amazing trainwreck of season 49. When Ryan Gosling shows up, you know that somebody will break. The setup here starts with a family death and morphs into a medical melodrama. Gosling enters as Bowen Yangs helper, with the two playing characters that also love cookies. The host breaks more than once as he makes a hilarious mistake with a camera. Between the food gags and ensemble acting, this feels like a gloriously weird scene. It hits yet another peak when Molly Kearney accidentally clips her co-star with a wheelchair. By that point, many performers lose their composure in this funny sketch.

#43: Diner Lobster

When John Mulaney hosted SNL, he starred in this wonderful idea about a questionable dish. Pete Davidsons character orders the diner lobster and draws some strong reactions. After the customer doubles down, the restaurant decides to start a tribute to Les Misérables. Its an incredible number thats so unexpected, over-the-top, and funny. Davidson cant help but laugh at the sight of everything. To be fair, we are all him watching this unfold. The actor cant hold back his reaction as pure joy washes over his face. With that kind of infectious happiness, the sketch only builds from there.

#42: Apple Picking Ad

If youve ever been apple picking, youll likely appreciate this sketch. Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant play sisters that run an orchard that might not be so great after all. While various people talk about their experience, the seams start to burst thanks to the lead actresses. Bryant and McKinnon have such a solid chemistry that gives way to some laughter. Even if the sketch isnt firing on all cylinders, the mistakes make it all the better. Its super entertaining to watch the pair work through the giggles. In between some comical testimonials, the comedians bring their charming energy to this scene.

#41: Uncle Ben

In this skit, SNL takes a look at changes in corporate marketing. Dave Chappelle introduces a scene where executives fire mascots like Aunt Jemima. The comedian plays the spokesman for Allstate, but he immediately laughs before his line. He also has to contend with his modulated voice. Chappelle giggles through his script, making for several highlights in this star-studded sketch. His Dennis Haysbert impression isnt the only thing that causes laughter. When Pete Davidson shows up as Count Chocula, the host takes another opportunity to let loose. Davidson spits his fake teeth out when he cant take it anymore. Needless to say, this entire sequence benefited from a few derailments.

#40: The Barry Gibb Talk Show: 2024 Election

In every version of this sketch, the concept seems to expand in silly ways. Jimmy Fallon goes all out as the Bee Gees leader while Justin Timberlake plays the sibling co-host. The singer almost breaks at a few points, but then he and his co-star have to introduce Dakota Johnsons character. The sketch involves so many intricate bits and musical numbers that you cant believe it works at all. Just short of complete disaster, Timberlake giggles through the lyrics before Johnson breaks as well. Fallon stays laser-focused while his scene partners hang on for dear life.

#39: Weekend Update: Smokery Farms

For this Weekend Update segment, Aidy Bryant and Kate McKinnon once again show off their chemistry. They play two cousins selling a collection of meats. With a prop alongside them, the performers try not to inhale the stench. Its clear that theyre fighting the strong smell in between funny setups. Noticing that his co-stars are flailing, Colin Jost laughs along as the basket becomes a centerpiece. Bryant and McKinnon are like two kids chuckling through their school project. Jost then tries to avoid the meat altogether. Using their best Southern accents, the comedians bulldoze through the script as best they can.

#38: Chris Farley as Bennett Brauer

Known for his physical roles, Chris Farley is among the best SNL performers that could make anything funny. This premise lets him use his hands and do excessive air quotes. Farley eventually receives a boost, with wires hoisting him into the air. The sketch takes a detour as the performer gets stuck. With crew members shuffling around, Weekend Update host Kevin Nealon steps in to help. The lead comedian takes the moment in stride and makes a few jokes at his own expense. As Nealon laughs through the mishap, his co-star eventually soars into the air in a triumphant save.

#37: Birthday Party

As friends gather together, Ryan Gosling plays the dad. He quickly runs into a foil played by Aidy Bryant. The latter plays a girl thats obsessed, making this party more than a little awkward. Bryant is great here with her line deliveries and interplay with the host. Gosling plays against his co-stars wild character, but he can only put up with so much. He eventually breaks after a quick line from the comedian. Considering all of the hyper activity, you wonder how he didnt break right away. The Barbie star is known for breaking on SNL and this skit helps him continue that tradition.

#36: Pepper Boy

When Dana Carvey returned to host, he showed that he still had his sketch comedy skills. He becomes a waiter alongside Adam Sandler. In this Italian restaurant, pepper is king. The two performers also have to utilize some outrageous accents. Going from table to table, the employees ramp up their antics with each passing customer. Sandler then has to endure the wrath of Chris Farley and his fake beard. Hiding his reaction, the performer probably wants to laugh. His sudden movement is subtle compared to his co-stars loud performance. Looking back, any of them couldve broken at any point before that given all the craziness.

#35: Royal Family Doctor

With their British accents on full blast, Bill Hader and Martin Short deliver some inspiring performances. Hader plays the straight man opposite Shorts zanier character. The former plays an OBGYN, while the latter tries to explain how to deal with royalty. This leads to some hilariously awkward rules and the older comedians acting. The younger cast member has more than a few moments where he needs to pause. Playing a stern doctor, the Barry star needs to cover his mouth to survive his scene partner. The startling and bold choices from the Three Amigos actor could break even the most serious person.

#34: The Sensitive Drill Sergeant

Youve seen this kind of setup before. The drill sergeant intimidates his trainees with relentless insults. For the SNL version, Will Ferrell plays the military leader thats working through his emotions. He also makes his presence known by ignoring personal space. Ferrells character focuses on David Spades cadet, using his hat to hammer the point home. This causes the host to break as he endures his co-star. Spade might be a Saturday Night Live veteran, but even the most experienced players would have a tough time here. The entertaining scene builds to a funny crescendo as the hat brim becomes a comedic weapon.

#33: Cut for Time: Gus Chiggins, Old Prospector

Not every sketch makes it to the live show, but some live on as a legend. Thankfully for audiences, this skit survives online. Will Ferrells character is so ridiculous that he tears through most of the cast. The soldiers dont understand why an old prospector might be joining them on a mission. As Jimmy Fallon and company try to say their lines, they fumble through as Ferrell digs into the role and accent. The ensemble is in stitches before too long. As a completely random idea, this weird sketch gives the actors and audiences plenty to laugh about.

#32: Zagats with Hank & Beverly Gelfand: Anniversary

Its a simple setup that puts two friends together in costume. Chris Farley and Adam Sandler play a married couple, looking through a guidebook for their anniversary. The husband can barely take it as the wife rambles on about restaurants. Farley moves close to Sandler, using his best expressions to badger his co-star. He eventually wins as the Happy Gilmore actor cracks. One performer moves in closer and the other one recoils, with the scene already hanging by a thread. It ultimately looks as if theyre both trying to break each other. When Sandler tears up the book, he looks into his scene partners eyes and creates another fun slip-up.

#31: Dr. Beamans Office: Test Results

This sketch might defy all kinds of rules, logic, and comedy standards. That doesnt stop all involved from doing their best. Will Ferrell plays the odd and aggressive Dr. Beaman, taking phone calls and leaving the couple in suspense. He then brings in a distraction in the form of a dancing medical expert. In the end, the routine forces Ferrell to mask his reaction. He and Molly Shannon cant stay in character following all of the weird gags. You can feel the writers and actors grasping at straws, making for this mix of comedic gold and desperation. Theres almost no way this sketch was ever going to go as planned.

#30: Gift Wrap

This might not be the first SNL sketch with lots of blood, but few ever go this wrong. James Francos gift wrapper cuts his finger and unleashes a geyser. Leslie Jones is right in the splash zone, with some of the fake blood getting into her mouth. The actress is clearly struggling as she tries to compose herself. It might be funny for a second, but its also really gross when you put yourself in her shoes. Kenan Thompson looks concerned as he stands next to his scene partner. While Jones tries not to be sick, Franco breaks after a gag with a fake foot. She might even deserve an award for hanging in there.

#29: Beavis and Butt-Head

Host Ryan Gosling certainly likes to break, or at least he cant seem to help it. This translates to yet another modern classic from the evil geniuses at SNL. The show puts Gosling and Mikey Day in make-up as the cartoon characters. This sends Heidi Gardner into a laughing fit before some of her co-stars follow suit. The host also loses it, with the sketch taking a few pauses so performers can collect themselves. We dont blame any of them for giggling considering the script or the prosthetics. In the future, we hope this absurd idea comes back to crack up more people like Chloe Fineman.

#28: Maine Justice with Jamie Foxx

Considering the circumstances, this sketch wasnt going to play out any other way. Jason Sudeikis plays a judge in Maine with a Southern accent. Its already crazy before the trial gets going, confusing audiences with its funny details. Sudeikis character then issues a punishment for Bobby Moynihan that breaks Jamie Foxxs bailiff. With the lead performer adding in a kiss, he forces Foxx to hide his face. The entire script feels like a fever dream that only gets better with these interactions. While we might have more questions than answers, we cant help but laugh as the breaking enhances the scene.

#27: Another Close Encounter

With how things went the first time around, youd think that SNL learned their lesson. The sequel to Close Encounter brings back Ryan Gosling for even more antics. It also keeps him laughing through the increasingly strange alien stories. Its a fantastic source of comedy, guaranteeing big reactions from the host as he deals with Kate McKinnons character. Theres also a more in-depth demonstration this time around. While handling her co-star, McKinnon does wonders to break the Barbie actor into pieces. Goslings giggles are definitely contagious as this chaotic follow-up earns its place alongside the original.

#26: Benihana

In another take on this sketch, Jonah Hills Adam Grossman is a precocious six-year-old. Leslie Jones plays his nanny Miss Lilly and tries to keep it together through all of the jokes. Hills role also lets him sing, using reggae tunes to break Jones. The sudden burst into song makes it harder for the Superbad star to keep a straight face too. Both performers enjoy themselves through this scene, earning even more laughs from the audience. The pair become a great comedic team here even after tripping each other up. If you love Bob Marley, youll probably get a kick out of this one.

#25: New Girlfriend

Fred Armisen plays this role with both dedication and chaos. The inclusion of Jason Sudeikis only makes things funnier, with the two playing people that derail a party. Armisens abrasive guest stretches out, puts her foot in guacamole, and tests the others patience. It also causes the former cast member to drop his act. Not only that, the likes of Vanessa Bayer cant contain herself at one point. The sketch itself is hilarious and these moments heighten the experience even more. By the end, Aidy Bryant also breaks as the ensemble and props are pushed to the limit.

#24: Hollywood Dish with Scarlett Johansson

If you pair up Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader, youll make any sketch better. This scene also shows that the two can break like the best of them. Both performers play interviewers, asking all kinds of awkward and invasive questions to Scarlett Johansson. This culminates with a slushie drink gag that might shock you. Wiig knows its coming and still struggles through her lines, with Hader completely broken next to her. Even Johansson cant keep a straight face in a reaction shot. Theres a fair chance that anybody would laugh under the same conditions. Despite all these setbacks, the sketch remains one of the funniest of its era.

#23: Lisa from Temecula

With her dedicated performance, Ego Nwodim sets off a chain reaction that nobody can recover from. Her character cuts into a well-done steak and starts to shake the table. Host Pedro Pascal cant keep a straight face, cracking up as he tries to deliver his lines. He isnt the only one desperate to stay focused either. Nwodim pushes through in an outrageous sketch, leading to some more funny reactions. Even Bowen Yang cant control himself, falling apart as the scene builds to an entertaining climax. Through it all, the cast looks like theyre genuinely having fun.

#22: The Barry Gibb Talk Show: Bee Gees Singers

In many versions of this sketch, Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake have carried on a musical tradition. They play Barry and Robin Gibb in this ridiculous talk show. Fallon takes over with his lively accent, sending his collaborator for a loop. The Gibb brothers have never seemed so dysfunctional or hilarious. Timberlake cracks under the pressure, unable to stay in character as his co-star flies off the handle. The host understandably breaks after listening to his scene partners falsettos. With the singer trying to keep up, this bizarre premise gets both the guest performer and audience chuckling.

#21: The Californians: Stuart Has Cancer

Anytime this recurring sketch shows up, you know youre in for a good time. This scene lets the cast poke fun at soap operas and Southern California in general. When Fred Armisens character Stuart shows up, the sketch starts to break down in funny ways. Bill Hader tries to keep a straight face, but hes no match for Armisens expressive voice. You can see Hader hanging on for dear life as his co-stars keep pushing forward. Even the best SNL performers lose control, with Kristen Wiig almost cracking up during a later moment. Everyone manages to finish strong as the dramatic revelations and directions keep going.

#20: Girlfriends Game Night

In 2018, Bill Hader hosted Saturday Night Live for the second time since leaving the show five years earlier and he left everyone including his co-stars in stitches. In this sketch, Hader plays Horace, the elderly husband to SNL regular Cecily Strong, whos attending a game night with her girlfriends. Its revealed that Horace has just popped a Cialis, causing Strong to hop on his lap as the pill only lasts for a couple of minutes. Hader proceeds to use his vehicular prop to great comedic effect, ultimately causing everyone involved to break character. Hader later discussed the scene on Late Night with Seth Meyers and once again struggled to contain his laughter.

#19: Stefon & Shy

The brainchild of Bill Hader and John Mulaney, Stefon was introduced in 2008, and quickly became a fan favorite. The world said goodbye to the Weekend Update correspondent whose knowledge of New York Citys most bizarre hotspots was both hilarious and unparalleled in 2013. But since then Stefon has still found time to make a guest appearance or two. In 2018, Stefon resurfaced, along with his lawyer Shy played by Mulaney and wasted no time getting everyone to crack up including Hader, and Update hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che. Hader laughs throughout the entire sketch, leading us to believe he was reading the script for the first time. How else do you explain it?

#18: Simon's Dreidel b/w Menorah in the Window

These two iconic characters have made numerous appearances over the years. Played to perfection by Fred Armisen and Kristen Wiig, Garth and Kat are a song writing team that just cant seem to find time to rehearse their songs. In fact, to get into character, Wiig and Armisen never rehearsed their performances, something Wiig called freeing and fun." Perhaps thats why both actors regularly burst into fits of laughter during sketches, as neither knew what to expect from the other! Watching Wiig try and keep up as Armisen just wings a performance is truly amazing. Its no wonder they couldnt keep it together!

#17: Fernando's Hideaway with Hulk Hogan & Mr. T

A recurring sketch from the 80s era of SNL involved Billy Crystal parodying Argentinian actor Fernando Lamas in a sketch called Fernandos Hideaway. Crystal would slap on a thick Spanish accent and interview celebrities, often getting their names and other tidbits of personal information wrong throughout the interview. One of the most famous sketches saw Crystal interviewing wrestlers/actors Hulk Hogan and Mr. T. Despite their attempts to keep a straight face, Hogan and Mr. T both break character near the end of the sketch, after Crystal ad-libs a line about exercise equipment. It would appear everyone is susceptible to breaking while in the presence of a gifted comedian like Billy Crystal.

#16: Scared Straight

This sketch from 2009 had no shortage of top-notch comedic talent. Tracy Morgan, Keenan Thompson, Jason Sudeikis, Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, and Bobby Moynihan are all featured; and when that many funny people are in a room together, things are bound to get a little silly. The sketch saw Morgan and Thompson playing convicts attempting to scare a trio of kids who were arrested for underage drinking. The only problem? They keep using the plots of popular movies to describe prison. Thompson and Hader are the worst offenders in this one, but everyone cracks at one point or another. You try making it through without letting a smile creep across your face! Cause this here is real!

#15: Kissing Family

Featuring SNL legends Andy Samberg, Kristen Wiig, Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, Kate McKinnon, Maya Rudolph, and Taran Killam, as well as Paul Rudd, this sketch is a blueprint for how to make A-list comedic talent break character. The Kissing Family is a recurring skit that involves an outsider being introduced to an overly affectionate family. In this instance, the outsider is played by Killam, and he is justifiably shocked to learn that his boyfriends family kiss each other on the lips among other things without zero regard for anyone elses feelings. Armisen cracks first, followed by Hader, but there are fissures of laughter peppered throughout the entire skit. With this much talent in the room, its no wonder this sketch devolved into a full-on break-fest.

#14: Family Feud Celebrity Edition: NBC vs CBS

As long-time friends and collaborators, it isnt exactly surprising to learn that Justin Timberlake does a mean Jimmy Fallon impression. He got to bust it out during a 2013 appearance on SNL during a game of Celebrity Family Feud. And guess who was also playing? Jimmy Fallon. Fallon, whos infamous for his inability to keep it together during sketches, was playing The Big Bang Theorys Jim Parsons. The two celebs went toe-to-toe right off the bat; and immediately had to turn away from the camera to hide their laughter. Later, Timberlakes impression was so accurate, it caused Fallon to duck behind his podium, struck by a serious case of the giggles. It's classic Fallon

#13: Frankensteins Monster Cracks Up

The late, great Phil Hartman was a fixture on Saturday Night Live between 1986 and 1994. In that time, he portrayed a slew of iconic characters, not least of which was his hilarious impression of Frankensteins Monster. In this sketch, Frankensteins Monster, Tarzan, and Tonto are being asked what they think about things such as fire and bread. This naturally leads to some hilarious responses from the three famously poor speakers. We actually have to applaud Hartman for staying in character as long as he did, however, even the best break eventually. For Hartman, that moment came when he was asked how he felt about a recent nuclear arms treaty. This stuff never gets old.

#12: Donnies Party

Introduced in 1999, The Boston Teens made regular appearances during the run of Jimmy Fallon and Rachel Dratch. Known for their thick Boston accents and love of the Red Sox as well as for constantly bickering and making up the characters regularly caused others to bust a gut. One of the most infamous cases involved Boston boy Ben Affleck, who simply could not contain his laughter while at a party with The Boston Teens. Watching him say bro over and over again while struggling to keep it together is priceless. Naturally, Fallon couldnt keep a straight face either.

#11: Career Day

Adam Driver helped SNL kick off their 44th season with a handful of hilarious performances that all deserve their time in the spotlight. However, this list is about actors breaking character, so well focus on just one: Career Day. In the sketch, Driver plays an elderly and ruthless oil baron who visits his sons class for career day. Pete Davidson plays the son, and boy is he ever put through the wringer. Driver delivers a blistering performance, causing Davidson to break character on multiple occasions, including the first time hes addressed. From there, its all downhill for the young actor, as Driver never once falters in his performance.

#10: Close Encounter

It was clear from the first minute of this sketch that host Ryan Gosling was not going to make it through without breaking character. After being abducted by aliens, Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong and Gosling each recount their experience with the extraterrestrials. However, McKinnons version differs wildly from the other two. So much so in fact, that Gosling was basically stifling a laugh for the entire sketch. Strong, Bobby Moynihan and Aidy Bryant all eventually broke; and even McKinnon had to repress a laugh at one point.

#9: Super Showcase

Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph took a forgettable game show sketch and elevated it to new heights with their hilarious fake European accents. The two SNL alumni play off each other beautifully; though that means as soon as one breaks character, the other isnt far behind. Things start to spiral out of control when the two women rock up in a golf cart. While Wiig immediately catches a case of the giggles, Rudolph manages to stay in character a little longer. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Bill Hader, who has to hide behind his hands to contain his laughter. The whole thing culminates with a still laughing Wiig crashing through the set in a golf cart. Seriously, how do they come up with this stuff?

#8: Love-ahs in the Hot Tub

Surprise, surprise, a sketch featuring Will Ferrell and Jimmy Fallon ended in multiple people breaking character. This iconic bit saw Ferrell and Rachel Dratch playing overly-affectionate lovers soaking in a hot tub and trying to play matchmaker to Fallon and host Drew Barrymore. Well, as you can probably glean from Ferrells ridiculous costume, it didnt take long before everybody was on the verge of a full-on meltdown. Tack on the fact that Ferrell later admitted that the goal was to make Jimmy Fallon laugh, and you have the recipe for a sketch thats guaranteed to have multiple broken characters. Need more proof that Ferrell is a character-breaking machine? Check out his Short Shorts for the USA clip. Youre welcome.

#7: Right to Extreme Stupidity

In this iconic sketch, SNL legend Gilda Radner and host Candice Bergen prove that breaking character is as easy as flubbing a single line of dialogue. The slip-up occurs when Bergen accidentally refers to Radner as Fern, which is actually the name of Bergens character. While Bergen attempts to rectify her mistake, Radner uses her trademark wit to destroy her quipping, We all cant be brainy like Fern here. At this point, all pretense of finishing the sketch as planned has gone out the window, as both women are dying of laughter. Its moments like this that make SNL so much fun to watch!

#6: Happiest Place on Earth?

Debbie Downer is one of the funniest characters in SNL's prestigious repertoire. Brilliantly brought to life Rachel Dratch, DD can instantly transform any situation into a total bummer for the other characters, that is. As far as the audience, cast members and viewers at home are concerned, shes a riot. One of her most famous appearances occurred at Disney World, where she somehow managed to ruin the happiest place on earth with her depressing anecdotes. While Fallon breaks first shocker Dratch isnt far behind. This inevitably caused the whole table to crack up. Horatio Sanz cries and Lindsay Lohan bangs the table in a fit of laughter. All the while Dratch can barely keep it together.

#5: Cork Soakers

In this hilarious sketch from 2004, host/musical guest Janet Jackson visits a winery and learns how to soak corks from a group of Italian wine makers. The scene is littered with double entendres meant to have viewers in stitches. However, as the writers probably assumed when they penned this side-splittingly funny sketch, it was the actors who were laughing harder than anyone! With giggles emanating from all corners of the set, Jackson can barely get her lines out. And honestly, we feel for her. However, the biggest surprise was that perpetual character-breaker Jimmy Fallon stayed composed throughout the entire sketch.

#4 I Live in A Van Down By the River

Few comedians are as revered as the late, great, Chris Farley. He could make anyone break with his unique brand of physical humor; and often did. While he has a slew of iconic SNL characters, youd be hard pressed to put any of them above Matt Foley, motivational speaker. In the characters first Saturday Night Live appearance, Farley managed to break host Christina Applegate and SNL regular David Spade in seconds with his over-the-top performance; which included hoisting Spade into the air and warning the teens about ending up like him. He broke everyone else the moment he screamed I live in a van down by the river!. It's priceless.

#3: Jeffreys

In this 2001 sketch, host Sean Hayes joined Jimmy Fallon and Will Ferrell in their Jeffreys sketch, which sees the three men playing retail workers at a high-end clothing store. The gag involves them being extremely rude and condescending to customers who they deem un-stylish. True to form, Fallon is laughing before the skit even begins! Hayes breaks shortly thereafter and for the rest of the sketch, the two men can barely contain their laughter for more than a few seconds. Once Will Ferrell appears on a motorized wheelchair, this sketch is over and done with. Oddly enough, this isnt the first time a clothing-based sketch involving Horatio Sanz and Jimmy Fallon devolved into one giant character break session. We give you: The Leather Man.

#2: More Cowbell

Featuring vets like Will Ferrell, Jimmy Fallon, Chris Kattan, Chris Parnell and Horatio Sanz, not to mention the indomitable Christopher Walken, More Cowbell is the stuff of sketch comedy legend, and was so the second it began to air. The cast play Blue Oyster Cult, while guest Walken portrays record producer Bruce Dickinson; a man who has a fever for more cowbell. Watching Ferrell gesticulate all over the room in a shirt thats way, way, way too small, is absolutely side splitting. Walken breaks, Kattan breaks, Sanz breaks, Fallon breaks; even Ferrell breaks! In the pantheon of SNLs worst or best character breaks, this one takes the cake.

#1: Stefon on Halloween

You all knew Stefon would be back at #1! In this all-time moment, fan favorite Stefon stops by Weekend Update to advise partygoers on where to find some not-so-family-fun on Halloween. Bill Hader breaks character numerous times, something hed replicate in an Autumn-themed appearance a couple of years later. As one YouTube commenter points out, it makes you wonder whether Hader developed Stefons signature hand over mouth quirk as a way to hide his constant giggling. Throughout the clip, Hader finds himself unable to speak, overcome by laughter; and while Seth Meyers does his best to remain composed. He is far from invincible when it comes to keeping a straight face. You know youve come up with comedic gold when Hader is crying tears of laughter. Enjoy, folks.
