We hope you are ready for another course, because the hugely popular anime Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma is returning for a third season.
When we last left Totsuki Academy, our favorite culinary prodigies had just returned from some pretty intense workplace experience, and from the look of things each are eager to sink their teeth into more Shokugeki battles. Especially Soma aka the God of Cooking!
But it seems there’s trouble on the horizon. According to Anime News Network, a recent article in Weekly Shonen Jump states that Soma, Megumi, Ikumi and the rest will be taking on the infamous Council of Ten; the most prestigious and talented chefs at the Academy.
“This year’s 39th issue of Shueisha‘s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is revealing on Monday that the third season of the Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma anime will premiere on October 3. The anime will air on Tokyo MX at 12:30 a.m. (effectively October 4). The series will also air on BS11 and Animax, and will stream online in Japan.
The new season is titled Shokugeki no SÅma: San no Sara (Food Wars! The Third Plate). The anime will follow the battle against the Council of Ten. Singer-songwriter ZAQ is performing the opening theme song and rock duo nano.RIPE are performing the ending theme song.
The 39th issue is also revealing that the anime’s first season is getting two Blu-ray Disc box sets that will ship in Japan on November 8 and December 13, respectively.”
Sounds like we’re going to be getting some good ol’ fashion one vs. one anime battles, though instead of fists its going to be with food known to cause multiple mouthgasms. Needless to say our appetites are well and truly whetted.
That, and the Red-Haired, Cat-Girl Council Member already looks like she’s in the running for 2017 waifu material.
