Digimon Tamers Is Coming To Blu-Ray

This Series Just Got Digi-Modified!

Many fans are in agreement that while the first season is certainly strong in the nostalgia department, the third entry in the Digimon franchise takes home the gold thanks to its darker tone and more mature approach to storytelling.

We still haven’t gotten over the death of Leomon…

It has been many years since it aired, and in that time we have had multiple sequel series with a varying amount of quality to their names. But for many, they don’t hold a candle to the card-swiping adventures of Takato and Guilmon.

In which case, good new fellow Tamers! According to an article on Crunchyroll, it seems that the series is getting the Blu-ray treatment!

The official Twitter for Digimon Tamers, the third installment of Toei Animation’s Digimon/Digital Monsters TV anime series, has confirmed that the first press limited edition of the upcoming Blu-ray box will come with a newly-recorded special drama CD produced by the anime’s original production staff members, including director Yukio Kaizawa and series composition writer Chiaki J. Konaka. Hiroyuki Kakudou, the series director of the first two installments, Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02, also join as sound director, alongside Toei Animation’s producer Hiromi Seki who worked on the first six Digimon TV series from 1999 to 2012.

Digimon Tamers was aired for 51 episodes in Japan from April 2001 to March 2002. The 58,104 yen (about 516 US dollars) is set to be released on April 3, 2018.

In addition to the drama CD, the set also comes with a special booklet that newly edited based on the two booklets originally included in the DVD box “Digimon Chronicle Box 02 Digimon Tamers” released in April 2007, “Memories of Our DIGIMON TAMERS” and “Digimon Tamers ~CARD EVOLUTION~.”

Digi-fans in Japan will have to wait until next year before getting their hands on it. Here’s hoping that it will make it over here soon afterwards so we too can hop on the nostalgia-train!
