He’s Here To Chew Gum And Slash Throats
The second season of one of modern anime’s biggest success stories turned out to be a huge winner last year, its gripping narrative highlighting just how the humans can be just as monstrous as the walking behemoths that dominate this dark fantasy world. Oh, and it gave us the greatest Titan vs. Titan slugfest we could have hoped for!
Surprisingly, fans won’t have to wait another four years before they see the next chapter in the Survey Corp’s tale of survival. Instead, they only have to hold on until this summer to see Eren, Mikasa and Levi not only take on even more Titans, but also one of the manga’s most infamous characters; the man they call Throat Slasher Kenny.
A recent article on Anime News Network not only gave more hints about the upcoming series, but also included a teaser visual that showed Levi clashing weapons with Kenny.
The official website for the third anime season of Attack on Titan revealed a new visual on Saturday featuring Levi and Kenny. The new season will premiere in July.
The first 25-episode series in 2013 also inspired two compilation films. Attack on Titan Part 1 â Guren no Yumiya premiered in November 2014, and Attack on Titan Part 2 â Jiyuu no Tsubasa premiered in June 2015. The second film added new ending footage that linked the film to the second season.
Given that the second series had such a dramatic shift in tone when compared to that of the original, lets hope that the trend continues as the anime continues to explore the darker aspects of mankind’s fear and desperation in the face of annihilation. Lets hope they also don’t hold back on future Titan fights either!
