The Legend of Zelda is a video game franchise of such pedigree and popularity that its influence has easily stretched far beyond the confines of consoles. Not only has it had a huge effect on the industry, but its approach to world-building and lore have led to its content to make the jump to novels, manga, merchandise, musical covers and animated shows. With all that said, is it any wonder that it would somehow find its way into alcohol?
According to an article on Gameinformer, a brewery in Atlanta, Georgia was so inspired by the antics of Link that they used the game as a platform to craft a new beer.
An independent brewery recently crafted a beer that pays homage to The Legend of Zelda.
Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Second Self Beer Company dubbed their latest drink “Triforce†because of its three base malts (oats, wheat, and barley) and three types of hops (amarillo, mosaic, and a touch of cascade). The can itself features pixelated artwork inspired by the original NES game. Everyone on staff is a huge fan of the Zelda franchise, Second Self beer architect Jason Santamaria says.
“I have played almost all the games in the franchise and just love the mythology of the universe,†Santamaria says. “Because of my love of the game, I’ve always wanted to have a beer with the name Triforce.â€
Unfortunately, due to various state laws on shipping alcohol, and probably warp whistles, the beer cannot be shipped directly to anyone outside Georgia. Triforce is available to buy throughout the state and is coming to Alabama next month.
Sounds like they actually put some thought into this, and we’ll be damned if we don’t suddenly have a craving to see what the Triforce actually tastes like!
