Explore Hogwarts
A lengthy reveal trailer was shown during a recent PlayStation 5 showcase, and there was a lot to unpack. Hogwarts Legacy is set to take place before the events of both Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter in the late 1800s (but there is a chance we could see familiar characters such as Dumbledore, who would be a student at this time). You will have the chance to create your own character and explore an open-world Hogwarts and beyond, cast spells, create potions, battle dark wizards, and more in an RPG setting.
Based on the footage and some speculation, it looks like you will be sorted into a Hogwarts house and be able to see locations such as house common rooms never seen in the films. The character you will be able to create is one who received a late acceptance letter into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and can use ancient magic in a story crafted by the team at Avalanche Studios.
Release
As far as the release is concerned, there’s no specific date attached to Hogwarts Legacy, but it’s expected to arrive sometime in 2021. While the game was unveiled during a PlayStation 5 event, it will not be exclusive to the next-gen console since it will also be available on the Xbox Series X. If you don’t plan on getting a next-gen console yet…you might have gotten your hands on some felix felicis since you will also be able to play the game on a PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Everything we know about Hogwarts Legacy so far appears to be promising the ultimate Harry Potter video game by giving you a place in the ever-expanding Wizarding World story.
