All the Best Twitter Reactions to the New “Little Women” Trailer

Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Saoirse Ronan, Eliza Scanlen, Laura Dern, Timothée Chalamet AND Meryl Streep?!?

Greta Gerwig, who made her directorial debut with the Academy Award Nominated 2017 film Lady Bird, teamed up again with Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet and together they created nostalgic magic in the new adaptation of Louisa May-Alcott’s classic novel “Little Women”.

The star studded cast, including Meg (Emma Watson), Jo (Saoirse Ronan), Amy (Florence Pugh), Marmee (Laura Dern), aunt March (Meryl Streep) and Laurie (Timothee Chalamet), spent months filming in Massachusetts last year and we have finally been graced with an official trailer that garnered ALL the Twitter reactions.

The film, although a coming-of-age set in the aftermath of the Civil War, mirrors modern discussions around female empowerment, as the four sisters face pressures to marry, while also navigating their independent dreams and goals, separate from finding a “suitable” husband.

Saoirse Ronan,  steals the trailer as her character Jo brings the feminist lens of the film to the forefront. She claims “Women have minds and souls as well as just hearts and they’ve got ambition and they’ve got talent as well as just beauty and I am so sick of hearing that love is all a woman is fit for, I’m so sick of it!”

The trailer seems to be a nice mix of the original story combined with added plot-lines that revive the classic, but we’ll have to wait until Christmas to see how it holds up, and whether or not it’s an Oscar worthy revival.
