Top 10 Piers Morgan Celebrity Feuds

Top 10 Piers Morgan Celebrity Feuds
VOICE OVER: Ashley Bowman WRITTEN BY: Marc Turner
Let's get ready to rumble. Welcome to WatchMojo UK, and today we'll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Piers Morgan Celebrity Feuds.

For this list, we're looking at the longest and most vicious public feuds that Piers Morgan has become involved in over recent years.

Special thanks to our user WordToTheWes for submitting the idea on our interactive suggestion tool: WatchMojo.comsuggest

#10: Kim Kardashian

This feud began in 2016, when Piers reacted to Kim tweeting a nude photo of herself by posting this mocking response. Then, when another risqué snap appeared, Piers moved the quarrel onto our TV screens. As well as firing off the occasional tweet in response, Kim upped the ante in 2018 by sending Piers a bottle of her perfume for Valentine’s Day. Was she trying to tell him something? Inevitably, Morgan had a comeback, giving Kim a taste – or should that be a smell? – of her own medicine.

#9: Lily Allen

After Lily revealed in 2018 that she’d been wearing an AK-46 necklace for ten years, Morgan sparked a row with the singer by accusing her of “promoting gun violence”. Lily, though, hit back with a stinging reply citing Piers’ alleged involvement in the phone-hacking scandal. The singer had clearly touched a nerve, because Piers later refused to interview her on “Good Morning Britain”. The feud has since continued on Twitter, with Lily once condemning Piers for thriving “on hate”, and Piers responding by calling Allen (amongst other things) a “deluded clown”.

#8: Olly Murs

Back in 2017, pop singer Murs mistakenly tweeted about hearing gunshots during an incident on London’s Oxford Street. So, Piers laid into the singer for spreading unnecessary panic, and another Twitter exchange followed in which Morgan warned Murs about the dangers of spreading fake information. Recognising the irony in that statement, James Blunt waded into the argument with this ruthless put down. Matters then took a turn for the bizarre, with Morgan trading insults with a spoof account in the name of footballer Kolo Toure before finally realising his mistake.

#7: Jim Jefferies

Australian comedian Jim Jefferies once confessed to trolling Piers on Twitter in the hope of provoking a reaction. So, when the two men were due to appear together on American chat show “Real Time with Bill Maher”, Piers told Jefferies to bring his “A-game”. Sparks flew when the discussion turned to Donald Trump’s ban against people from several Muslim-majority countries entering America. Many viewers thought Jefferies won the exchange, but Piers was having none of it, claiming the comedian later apologised to the show’s producers for losing his temper.

#6: Susan Sarandon

In 2016, actress Sarandon wore a revealing outfit when she attended the Screen Actors Guild Awards to present a tribute to deceased Hollywood stars. Opinion was divided on the appropriateness of her choice of clothes, but there’s no doubt where Piers stood on the issue. One thing led to another, before many women showed their support for Sarandon by sending pictures of their cleavage to Morgan … And Piers responded by tweeting this tongue-in-cheek picture of himself to the actress. Anyone else wishing they could “un-see” that?

#5: Ewan McGregor

In 2017, various marches took place around the world, largely in support of women’s rights. Next, after Piers dismissed the events as a “mass hissy fit” by “rabid feminists”, Ewan McGregor pulled out of a scheduled appearance on GMB in protest. Piers called the actor a coward for doing so, then described him in an article as a “paedophile-loving hypocrite” – a reference to him working with director Roman Polanski. Well, that escalated quickly! Piers has since tried on several occasions to reignite the feud, but McGregor has so far refused to be baited.

#4: Gary Lineker

Considering their support for Spurs and Arsenal respectively, it’s no wonder Lineker and Morgan have occasionally clashed over football matters. But the feud has also spilled over into other subjects, with the pair locking horns over topics ranging from fashion to children’s homework. Then there was the time they swapped tweets over Piers’ interview with Donald Trump. We’d score that a one-all draw. Piers has even been known to interrupt the schedule on GMB to engage in his Twitter war with the “Match of the Day” presenter. Nice.

#3: Jeremy Clarkson

This especially famous feud dates back to when Morgan and Clarkson both worked in tabloid journalism. After Piers published photos of Clarkson kissing his BBC producer, the former “Top Gear” presenter responded by punching Morgan at the 2004 British Press Awards. Since then, the two men have frequently swapped insults and clashed over each other’s viewing figures, with Clarkson in particular gloating over Morgan losing his job at CNN. But in 2014 the feud seemingly ended, with the pair meeting in a pub to reportedly bury the hatchet – for now.

#2: Ian Hislop

Another infamous spat, this one dates back to when the two men clashed on “Have I Got News For You”, with Morgan later admitting that Hislop got the better of him. Afterwards, Piers allegedly told journalists to dig up dirt on the popular panellist, but unfortunately for him, there was none. Piers has since called Hislop a “gnome” and a “moon-faced midget”, whilst Hislop once succeeded in getting his rival put into “Room 101”. However, it seems that this feud has also died down, with Morgan once calling off hostilities in a newspaper article.

#1: JK Rowling

For whatever reason, Morgan seems a vocal critic of all things Harry Potter… Memorably, he once picked a fight with Emma Watson over her photo shoot for Vanity Fair magazine. But his bitterest feud has been with JK Rowling herself after she posted this tweet following his on-screen run-in with Jim Jefferies. It was all downhill from there, with Morgan calling Rowling “dismissive and arrogant”, and Rowling branding Piers “amoral” and a “celebrity toady”. Amusingly, Rowling has received support from Piers’ son, though, with Spencer once tweeting a picture of his Deathly Hallows Tattoo.
