While in the pound, Lady learns how many girlfriends Tramp has had, implying that he doesn't really look for love or a relationship (there are better phrases for this, but I'm not 100% certain of appropriate context) By the end of the movie, he learns what it really means to love and care about someone, and even settles down permanently with Lady.
