Due to the NFL's stance on player health and safety, EA Tiburon was forced to take out late hits, implement more realistic player models, and made tackling less violent, thereby taking away what made NFL Blitz memorable from the beginning.
The graphics are not very impressive either. Sometimes looking rarely better or even worse than a GameCube game upscaled into HD on a Dolphin emulator.

This new game changed the original game's run n' gun format into a mission-based GTA clone. The game also breaks the original game's anti-drug messaging by giving players the option to use confiscated drugs to their own benefit.
