Top 10 Most Memorable Cannes Red Carpet Looks of the 2010s

When in France, you must always look chic. Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Most Memorable Cannes Red Carpet Looks of the 2010s.

For this list, we’re looking at the most iconic and beautiful outfits to appear at the Cannes Film Festival since 2010. However, we’re excluding dresses from 2017 onward.

#10: Nicole Kidman in Off-White Valentino
66th Annual Cannes Film Festival (2013)

At a Cannes screening for the film “Nebraska,” Nicole Kidman wore a gorgeous Valentino Couture gown that appeared on the designer’s Spring 2013 runway. The sleeveless, mock-neck dress featured a floral overlay in a creamy off-white shade. With her hair elegantly pulled back to give the illusion of a shorter ‘do, the statuesque Kidman reminded us of style icon Grace Kelly as much as ever.

#9: Charlize Theron in Yellow Dior
68th Annual Cannes Film Festival (2015)

Charlize Theron looks fabulous in any color – and she proved that at the 2015 Cannes premiere of “Mad Max: Fury Road.” Theron wore a canary yellow gown by Christian Dior Haute Couture that featured a strapless bustier design made with a silk crepe. According to Vogue Paris, seamstresses were specifically flown in to Cannes to finish the gown in the days before the big event – and it was worth it.

#8: Freida Pinto in Feathery Michael Kors
67th Annual Cannes Film Festival (2014)

For her appearance at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, Freida Pinto was looking for a one-of-a-kind dress, and she found it in a feathery Michael Kors gown in a pale nude shade. Channeling old Hollywood for the premiere of the film “Saint Laurent,” she turned heads on the red carpet with her princess-like A-line dress, completing the look with a soft wave in her hair and a bold red lip.

#7: Marion Cotillard in White Dior
66th Annual Cannes Film Festival (2013)

As one of the faces of the luxury design house, it made sense that Marion Cotillard chose Dior for this big night. When debuting her film “The Immigrant” at Cannes in 2013, Cotillard chose a white Christian Dior gown with a high neck and long sleeves. And let us tell you: this may be one of those dresses that’s better from the back.

#6: Bella Hadid in Red Alexandre Vauthier
69th Annual Cannes Film Festival (2016)

This bold look put Bella Hadid on everyone’s fashion radar. Her dramatic crimson gown was designed by Alexandre Vauthier and featured a deep neckline as well as a nearly waist-high slit, which showed off her toned legs and noticeable poise. Completing the look with black stiletto sandals, diamond jewels and a chic updo, Hadid proved that you can stand out while wearing red on the red carpet.

#5: Zhang Ziyi in B&W Stéphane Rolland
67th Annual Cannes Film Festival (2014)

For both the Opening Ceremony and the premiere of “Grace of Monaco” in 2014, Zhang Ziyi wore an edgy Stéphane Rolland creation. The gown originally deputed on the Spring/Summer 2014 Couture runway and contrasted a laser-cut leather bodice with floating white skirt that featured a dramatic ruffle accent. Futuristic and edgy on top, ethereal and elegant on the bottom, this gown shows us the best of both worlds.

#4: Cara Delevingne in Black Lace Burberry Prorsum
66th Annual Cannes Film Festival (2013)

At the Opening Ceremony of the 2013 Cannes event, as well as the premiere of “The Great Gatbsy,” top model and actress Cara Delevingne wore a floor length Burberry Prorsum gown with a plunging neckline and lace accents. With her signature smoky eye and glossy red lip adding to the ensemble’s drama, Delevingne topped things off with sparkling Chopard diamonds to keep things classic.

#3: Eva Longoria in Marchesa Gown with Train
65th Annual Cannes Film Festival (2012)

Nothing says “drama” like show stopping tulle train. For the premiere of the Wes Anderson film “Moonrise Kingdom,” Eva Longoria chose a romantic Marchesa gown in a pale lilac hue. The dress had a mermaid silhouette that hugged her curves, with the body of the dress featuring detailed embroidery and beading as well as a dramatic cutout back. But, of course, the piece de resistance was that gorgeous train.

#2: Lupita Nyong’o in Green Gucci
68th Annual Cannes Film Festival (2015)

Not everyone could have pulled off that shade of emerald green, but Nyong’o looked radiant in this Gucci gown at the premiere of “Standing Tall.” Made from pleated chiffon, the dress featured a small capelet as well as appliqued, hand painted silk flowers. The actress added even more color with a bright orchid-colored lip to complete the look. Also, you should know that this dress was made for twirling.

#1: Blake Lively in Blue Atelier Versace
69th Annual Cannes Film Festival (2016)

Blake Lively knows fashion, and she’s proved it more than once at Cannes, having stunned with her white Chanel ensemble in 2014. Two years later, Lively was pregnant with her second child when she decided to don an Atelier Versace gown that hugged her curves and showed off her baby bump. The one-shoulder design and formfitting beaded blue bodice definitely stood out on the red carpet, and proved that maternity style can be spectacular.
