Top 10 Disney Park Attractions

The magic here is limited only by your imagination. Welcome to MsMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 10 Disney Park Attractions.

For this list, we'll be ranking the most popular and enduring attractions found at Disney theme parks. We're only including attractions that are currently running, so unfortunately, Wishes: A Magical Gathering of Disney Dreams can’t be included. We’ll also be excluding dark rides and rollercoasters, as they deserve a list of their own.

#10: Electrical Parade: DreamLights
Tokyo Disneyland

In the world of Disney, there are parades...and then there's the Electrical Parade: DreamLights. This is when Tokyo Disneyland goes all out with a magical melding of music and technology to create a fun, festive celebration. DreamLights features floats with extensive lighting and live action performers, with many pulled from classic Disney films. Aladdin's Genie, Winnie the Pooh, Goofy and more all make appearances alongside characters from later Disney creations like "Tangled" to create a memorable parade experience for the entire family. It’s all set to a soundtrack that combines classic musical melodies alongside a fun, retro synthesizer vibe. No visit to Tokyo Disneyland is complete without checking out Electrical Parade: DreamLights.

#9: Jungle Cruise
Disneyland, Walt Disney World & Tokyo Disney

It's not uncommon for certain Disney attractions to be featured within multiple parks. Such is the case with the Jungle Cruise, an Adventureland classic that can be found stateside in both California’s Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom in Florida, as well as internationally in Japan and Hong Kong. The Jungle Cruise is hosted by a Disney cast member as it takes guests along a slow river ride on board a replica steam ship from the 1930s. These guests are greeted by animatronic animal scenes along the way, with the attraction deriving most of its thematic inspiration from the 1951 Humphrey Bogart adventure film "The African Queen."

#8: Disney Illuminations
Disneyland Paris

Although they all carry the Disney brand, the various Disney parks around the globe feature some attractions that are unique to that park. Disney Illuminations was unveiled at Disneyland Paris as part of its 25th anniversary commemoration, replacing the previous show, Disney Dreams! The updated effects of Disney Illuminations take Mickey Mouse – and the audience – through beloved Disney properties like “The Lion King,” “The Little Mermaid,” and even newer additions to the company’s catalogue, like the live-action “Beauty and the Beast” and “Star Wars.” The synchronized display of projections, fireworks, lasers, jets of water and music come together for a truly unforgettable viewing experience.

#7: Mickey’s PhilharMagic
Walt Disney World, Hong Kong Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland

This twelve-minute attraction is a truly unique experience and, thanks to the magic Disney touch, one that is guaranteed to be full of fun. Mickey's PhilharMagic is a 4-D experience. Say what? Yep, sight, sound, touch and smell are all accentuated in a fabulous immersive event. The story follows the disastrous consequences of Donald Duck's "borrowing" of Mickey's Sorcerer's Cap. The audience is greeted by characters and music from across the Disney universe, with corresponding seat rumbles and associated smells that suit the story at hand. It's an awesome, interactive experience with more than enough nostalgia for the adults, and plenty of action for the kids.

#6: Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!
Walt Disney World

You'll have to venture out to Hollywood Studios over at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida to check out our next park attraction, the Indian Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! Audiences watch along with Indy as he navigates various recreated stunts from the famous film franchise, with some guests even being invited up to perform as extras and to assist in the show. Computer programming is used in conjunction with real world electronics to provide many of the thrills and spills associated with the show, making the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! one attraction which truly lives up to its name.

#5: Kilimanjaro Safaris
Walt Disney World

The Kilimanjaro Safaris are another attraction on our list that is exclusive to just one Disney park, specifically the Animal Kingdom over at Florida's Walt Disney World Resort. A wide variety of amazing animals are showcased to audiences as they board safari vehicles, together with their Disney tour guide. The origin of the attraction is actually connected to Walt Disney's original desire to utilize live animals for his Jungle Cruise ride, and features antelope, elephants, rhinos and many other animals. A day trip to the Kilimanjaro Safaris is a must for families seeking a little adventure, while also enjoying the sight and sounds of the wild.

#4: Happily Ever After
Walt Disney World

If you want to see a truly marvellous spectacle, look no further than Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Replacing “Wishes: A Magical Gathering of Disney Dreams,” “Happily Ever After” takes viewers on a journey with Disney characters new and old, exploring the themes of friendship, love, and adversity that their stories share. This show uses cutting-edge projection mapping, lasers, and fireworks to seamlessly transform Cinderella’s castle and transport the audience into each world. The production team even brought on animators Eric Goldberg, Randy Haycock and Mark Henn to create new sequences for the show using the traditional hand-drawn animation. “Happily Ever After” proves once again that Disney’s magic is in every little detail.

#3: Finding Nemo - The Musical
Walt Disney World

2007 was a big year for the "Finding Nemo" franchise, as the hit Disney film saw not one, but two attractions debuting for the company's theme parks. The Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage was the re-branding of Disneyland’s Tomorrowland classic Submarine attraction, while “Finding Nemo: The Musical” replaced the long-standing show "Tarzan Rocks!" located over in Disney World's Animal Kingdom. The musical was notable for featuring an impressive cast of Tony Award winning professionals handling composition, direction and production design duties. The resulting forty-minute show thrills audiences six times daily. “Finding Nemo: The Musical” ensures that one of Disney's most beloved animated features continues to have a long life for kids young and old.

#2: IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth
Walt Disney World

Disney's Epcot takes high honors here on our list with this nightly pyrotechnics spectacular. IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth actually started life as a celebration of the millennium, with its original title being IllumiNations 2000, but time has seen the popular show take on a new life of its own as a mainstay attraction of the park. The main storyline of IllumiNations deals with the physical wonder of earth's creation and existence, represented for audiences by a tremendous fireworks and laser light show. Booming sound and breathtaking visuals are the bread and butter for IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, making it a can't-miss sight for anyone visiting Epcot on vacation.

Before we name our most magical of Disney park attractions, here are a few honorable mentions!

Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular
Walt Disney World

Festival of Fantasy Parade
Walt Disney World

Rivers of Light
Walt Disney World

#1: Fantasmic!
Disneyland, Walt Disney World & Tokyo Disney

Imagery and song from Disney classics past and present collide here on Fantasmic!, an incredible live attraction performed at California’s Disneyland, Florida’s Hollywood Studios and Tokyo DisneySea. Although the storylines differ from park to park, all three versions of Fantasmic! incorporate a veritable cornucopia of effects to bring to life Mickey Mouse's imaginative battles against iconic Disney villains. Fireworks, live performers, animatronics, music, character projections and more come together in a spectacular fashion to create a truly awe-inspiring and magical feast for the eyes. Add to this Fantasmic!'s water-based setting, and you have what may be one of the most fascinating attractions Disney has to offer.
