VO: Emily Brayton WRITTEN BY: Savannah Sher
Script written by Savannah Sher There are exciting park updates in the works! For this list, we’re looking at exciting new rides, attractions, restaurants and hotels coming to Disney parks around the globe. This list is being made in early 2018, so we won’t be looking at anything that has already opened, like The Edison at Disney Springs. We also won’t be considering anything that as of now does not have an estimated opening date, like the Mission: Space restaurant at Disney World! In the pipeline we have Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway railway, Guardians of the Galaxy at Epcot, Tron, Tron Lightcycle Power Run, Marvel Themed Areas and more!

Top 10 Exciting Disney Park Updates in the Next 3 Years

The most magical places on Earth are becoming even more magical. Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Exciting Disney Park Updates in the Next 3 Years.

For this list, we’re looking at exciting new rides, attractions, restaurants and hotels coming to Disney parks around the globe. This list is being made in early 2018, so we won’t be looking at anything that has already opened, like The Edison at Disney Springs. We also won’t be considering anything that as of now does not have an estimated opening date, like the Mission: Space restaurant at Disney World.

#10: Disney's Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel
Disneyland Paris

Early in 2018, Disneyland Paris announced that this summer would be the Marvel Summer of Super Heroes at the European park. Since Disney acquired Marvel, the parks have slowly but surely been adding elements of the comic book characters for even more magic. And by 2020, one of Disneyland Paris’s resort hotels will be re-themed to become Disney's Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel. Though the replacement of the hotel’s Art Deco style hasn’t won everyone over, the concept art that’s come out so far promises the immersive theming Disney is known for. If you’ve ever wanted to feel like you were in the pages of your favourite Marvel comic, you’ll soon have the chance!

#9: New Restaurants
Disney Springs, Walt Disney World

If you only ever visited Disney Springs back when it was Downtown Disney, you’re in for a treat the next time you go. The entire area has been expanded and reimagined so that it feels like an exciting destination in its own right. In 2018, a slate of new restaurants will be opening inDisney Springs, and they’re all ones you can get psyched about. Wolfgang Puck already has a few existing restaurants at Disney parks, but the Bar & Grill concept will be a novel one for Orlando. We’ll also be getting Terralina Crafted Italian, Wine Bar George and Jaleo, all worth checking out.

#8: Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway
Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World

Anyone who has visited Walt Disney World in the past few years knows that Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been going through somewhat of a period of transition. Many popular rides have closed down and huge swaths of the park have been under construction. All that is going to be changing though, and Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, opening in 2019, is one of the new attractions to look forward to. It’s going to be an indoor dark ride which will take the place of the The Great Movie Ride, which was shut down in 2017. And get ready to see a LOT of hidden Mickeys!

#7: Guardians of the Galaxy at Epcot
Epcot, Walt Disney World

Epcot may be known among the parks at Walt Disney World for being the least ride-focused, with many of the attractions being the country pavilions in the World Showcase. All that is going to change by 2021 though, because this oft-unappreciated park is getting an exciting new thrill ride. The Guardians of the Galaxy are coming to Orlando, in the form of a high speed indoor roller coaster at Epcot. We don’t know much about the ride yet, except that it will reportedly be one of the longest indoor track coasters ever built. Oh, and on top of that? Epcot is also getting a Ratatouille ride!

#6: Tron Lightcycle Power Run
Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World

2021 will mark the 50th anniversary of Florida’s Walt Disney World, so visitors can definitely expect some big things coming to celebrate. One of the biggest is a new ride being built at Magic Kingdom: Tron Lightcycle Power Run. It’s an attraction that already exists at Shanghai Disneyland Park: a high-speed thrill ride that may be considered “coaster-style” but is far from your traditional roller coaster. Riders sit as though they’re on a Lightcycle, which certainly differentiates it from other rides. The attraction will sit near Space Mountain, but Disney has stated that it will be in entirely new area, not necessarily in Tomorrowland.

#5: Marvel Themed Areas
Disneyland, Disneyland Paris & Hong Kong Disneyland

As we know, in 2009, a huge announcement was made. Disney would be acquiring Marvel, meaning that all of the popular comic book brand’s properties would now be part of the House of Mouse. Many worried that superhero characters would take away from the old school magic of the parks, but so far it seems that their integration is relatively seamless. At Disneyland in California, Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland, things will be getting progressively more super, with new lands, new rides and more characters present in the parks. And in 2019, Hong Kong Disneyland will be getting its very own Ant Man ride!

#4: Disney Skyliner
Walt Disney World

When Orlando’s Walt Disney World opened in 1971, a prominent feature of the park was the Skyway, a gondola ride which took visitors from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland and back. It was closed down in 1999, but in 2017 it was announced that gondolas would be coming back to the park, but not to Magic Kingdom. The upcoming Disney Skyliner, estimated to open in 2019, will connect several Disney resort hotels to Hollywood Studios and Epcot. The upcoming Disney Riviera Resort is one of the on site hotels that will be connected to the parks.

#3: Pixar Pier
Disney’s California Adventure, Disneyland

If you’re feeling like there’s a long time to wait for many of these upcoming updates, we’ve got some good news. If you’re heading to Disneyland in California, there are some big changes coming in the summer of 2018. California Adventure’s Paradise Pier area has been undergoing construction for some time now, and that’s all to make way for the new and improved Pixar Pier. The area will be separated into four different “neighborhoods”, each of which will feature theming from fan-favorite Pixar properties. Many of the rides are staying the same, but, in thelong term, new attractions will be added as well.

#2: Toy Story Land
Walt Disney World & Shanghai Disneyland

Speaking of Pixar… also opening in June 2018 is the much-anticipated Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios in Orlando, and in April 2018 at Shanghai Disneyland. At Disney World, the new land will feature one existing attraction, Toy Story Mania!, that has received a revamp for the occasion, as well as several new rides for guests to enjoy, like the Slinky Dog Dash coaster, Alien Swirling Saucers, and the restaurant Woody’s Lunch Box. Shanghai will also have a Slinky Dog attraction, and Rex’s Racer, which is a lot like the RC Racer ride at Walt DisneyStudios in France and Hong Kong Disneyland. Honestly, that sounds great, but we’re pretty pumped to walk around the land and feel like the size of a toy!
