#10: The Founder of the Dollars

“Durarara!!” (2010-16)

With a city filled with criminals, yakuza, supernatural beings, as well as gangs defined by colours, life in Ikebukuro is far from boring. Among the many gangs that call Ikebukuro home, one of the biggest is a group known as the Dollars. Known as a colour gang without a colour, the organization is shrouded in mystery. When the leader of the Dollars organizes a mass gathering of its members, it’s revealed that the gang’s founder is none other than the timid and soft-spoken Mikado Ryuugamine. Originally starting out as a joke by Mikado and some friends, the Dollars eventually grew into something bigger than he could have ever have imagined, allowing him an escape from his normal everyday life.

#9: Kanade’s Heart

“Angel Beats!” (2010)

Despite its many comedic moments, “Angel Beats!” is considered one of the saddest anime of all time. After befriending Kanade, Otonashi slowly remembers his past, including his final moments where he decides to donate his organs to help others. When his powers reach their peak, he fires a powerful energy beam, forcing White-Clad Charon to use his own ability to absorb the beam and reflect it towards the moon. He may be part of an evil cult hellbent on burning the world, but even villains can have their share of badass moments. MVP right here.

Not only did Kaede create a false identity just to get closer to and study Koro-sensei to avenge her dead sister, she also possesses her own pair of superhuman tentacles.
