Industry and Economy in Alberta

Agriculture is one of Alberta's most important industries. Canola, barley and wheat are important harvests; with wheat comprising almost $1 billion of the province's farming economy. Alberta's farmland and climate are ideal for raising cattle, and this is therefore why almost 60 per cent of Canada's beef is produced in this province. Also located in this area are the Athabasca Oil Sands, which hold estimated oil reserves of 1.6 trillion barrels.
