The History of the Glastonbury Festival

The origins of the Glastonbury can be traced back to the 1970s with Michael Eavis. Originally based around the ideas of the hippie movement, the festival gradually grew to incorporate not only musical performances but dance, theater, and other performing arts. As the event grew, so did profits, which were donated to several charitable organizations. Attendance also increased as did the number of performers until the festival became largest green-field music and arts festival in the world.
