Top 20 Most Evil Anime Villains

Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Anime Villains Who Can’t Be Defeated.

For this list, we’ll be looking at the most unstoppable antagonists to come out of anime, who, even if some outside force bested them in the end, still proved too strong for the main cast to handle. Since we will be discussing the outcomes of numerous plot lines, consider this your spoiler alert.

Which unbeatable big bad do you think is the toughest of them all? Let us know in the comments below.

#10: Kyubey

“Puella Magi Madoka Magica” (2011)

Of all the powerhouse enemies lurking throughout the multiverse, none is cuter than this floppy-eared alien. Don’t let the docile appearance fool you, as it did countless generations of
young girls. Kyubey’s species — the Incubators — harvest the souls of human females by tricking them into becoming magical girls. While having superpowers sounds sweet, the catch is that said girls eventually turn into the very witches they’re fighting. This amoral immortal’s cute packaging obscures its diabolical cleverness, making him a force to be reckoned with wherever you are in time or space.

#9: Yujiro Hanma

“Baki” (2018-)

Known as the Ogre, no man or beast on Earth is stronger than Baki’s daddy. Yujiro is an utter unit physically, capable of performing feats of strength and endurance well beyond normal human capacities. Even when he flexes his back, the muscles look like a monster’s face! Brawny as he may be, the Ogre is also an extremely skilled fighter who has mastered numerous martial arts. You’d think people would stop messing with him after the first time he ripped someone’s face off bare-handed.

#8: Pandora

“Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World” (2016-)

The witch of vanity may look like a pasty little girl, but don’t let that fool you; Pandora is as cold-hearted as they come. Plus, she possesses the god-like power to bend reality to her will. While the full extent of her abilities isn’t yet known, she seems to be able to instantly re-write history. If this isn’t enough proof of her near omnipotence, the witch is also able to instantly resurrect herself. When taken together, this power set makes Pandora one enchantress unlikely to be bested anytime soon.

#7: Kars

“JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” (2012-)

When it comes to psychotic immortals, this ancient being is the full package. Kars is incredibly powerful, diabolically genius and has the physique of a Greek statue on steroids. His people — the Pillar Men — have numerous powers to their name, such as shapeshifting, heightened senses, and the ability to externally digest living beings. However, Pillar Men also have a weakness to sunlight and similar energies like the Hamon. Kars transcends this Achilles heel when he evolves into the Ultimate Life Form, becoming a super being able to manipulate all life on the planet for his own means. Not even the vacuum of space could finish him completely!

#6: Madara Uchiha

“Naruto Shippuden” (2007-17)

A legendary ninja with a burning desire for revenge, Madara’s name was only spoken of in hushed whispers throughout the majority of Naruto’s sequel series...until he was resurrected and demonstrated his mythical talents first hand. He was already a master of the Sharingan, but with his new undead body and control over the Rinnegan, he easily put the Shinobi Alliance to shame. In addition to his elemental powers, Madara is a skilled martial artist proficient with a wide variety of weapons and combat styles. To be honest, it’s a miracle anyone ever got close to wearing him down.

#5: Meruem

“Hunter x Hunter” (2011-14)

Known as the king of the Chimera Ants, the pinnacle of this man-eating, sentient race excels across the board in terms of super-human strength, speed and durability. Not to mention a solid grasp of Nen. While at first seeming completely compassionless, time and trials evolved Meruem into a more complex character, one even capable of caring for others. Of course, that doesn’t take away from the fact he can take on someone like Netero and brush off every attack. The Ant King’s bite is not to be underestimated.

#4: Ryo Asuka

“Devilman Crybaby” (2018)

Of all the malevolent monsters in this reimagined classic, none is as powerful or ingenious as Satan’s reincarnation. As a human, Ryo was always a little screwy with an eager trigger finger. However, once his identity is revealed to him, Ryo lets out his inner devil, fully intending to strike down God and purge the planet Given his status as the OG fallen angel, he can not only take any blow that Akira sends his way, but is fully capable of decimating everything, from other devils to the moon. Not that it did him much good in the end...

#3: Godzilla Ultima

“Godzilla Singular Point” (2021)

The king of kaiju evolves through several terrifying forms in this Netflix version, with the last one being the most imposing. Known as Godzilla Ultima, he has a body plan roughly familiar to fans of the franchise, albeit with a few new frightening flourishes. In addition to being nearly impervious, this Godzilla has a hyper-healing factor, along with his trademark atomic breath. Which proved capable of blasting through the Japanese military, a swarm of Rodans, and even a giant robot from the future.

#2: Zamasu

“Dragon Ball Super” (2015-18)

Starting off as a god in training, Zamasu’s pride and hubris led him on a rampage across time, all in search of ultimate power. The result of it was two godly destroyers: one version of Zamasu who since became immortal thanks to the power of the Super Dragon Balls, and another who had taken Goku’s body and all of his Saiyan abilities for himself. It’s no wonder they were able to decimate the entire human population with ease, posing such a threat the entire universe needed resetting just to clean up their mess!

#1: The God Hand

“Berserk” (1997-98)

Rather than one OP villain, these demonic near deities are a five-for-one deal straight out of hell. Once humans, each ascended to their demigod status through the monstrous designs of the Crimson Behelit. While Void, Slan, Conrad and Ubiq seem to have their own talents and tastes for causing suffering, they share the ability to warp space, bestow godly power to those they deem worthy, and brand others as would-be sacrifices, forever luring in creatures of the astral plane to feast on them. Along with their newest recruit of Griffith aka Femto, the God Hand aren’t so much beasts to be bested but living nightmares that can influence the mortal world in whatever devilish ways they see fit.
