A spinoff of CBS’s beloved legal series starring Julianna Margulies, The Good Fight consists of 10 episodes and follows the life of Diane Lockhart and her daughter Maia, both of whom are forced to leave their law firm after a financial scandal destroys their reputations. Starring Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo, and Rose Leslie of Game of Thrones, this is one of the most anticipated shows of 2017. Get the popcorn ready.

The “Big Four” in fashion are back. London Fashion Week, is happening this month, bringing the best designers, models, and fashion to Britain’s capital for five days straight. Taking place across three venues in central London, this year’s event will see the likes of Burberry, Bora Aksu, Topshop, David Koma, Antonio Berardi, and many more. If it’s like previous fashion weeks, February in London will be an excellent time for celeb-spotting, too. Last year’s attendees included Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe, Olivia Palermo, Anna Wintour, and Suki Waterhouse, to name just a few.

Based on the novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty, this new comedy-drama from HBO features an ensemble cast that includes the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Adam Scott, Zoë Kravitz, and Alexander Skarsgard. The seven-episode miniseries has been directed by acclaimed French Canadian filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallee, and follows the lives of three mothers as they begin to unravel. Prepare to laugh, cry, and everything in between, as this new show is guaranteed to have both heart warming and heart wrenching moments.

David Oyelowo of Selma stars in yet another powerful biopic, this time focusing on Sir Seretse Khama, the first president of Botswana. A British biographical film with elements of romance, drama, and history, A United Kingdom follows the life of Khama, the current prince and soon to be king of Bechuanaland and his relationship with London office worker Ruth Williams, played by Rosamund Pike. Though Khama is smitten with Williams, it quickly becomes clear that the people he will soon be ruling do not trust his British-born wife, an issue that becomes particularly difficult in the wake of apartheid and decolonization.

2017 sees yet another spin-off, this time in the form of The LEGO Batman Movie, the long-awaited follow-up to 2014’s The Lego Movie. Taking a much lighter tone than the Batman films of the recent past, Chris McKay’s new film sees the World’s Greatest Detective taking on The Joker yet again. Will Arnett will be reprising his Lego Movie role as Batman, while the new cast includes Zach Galifianakis, Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson, Ralph Fiennes, and Jenny Slate. This action comedy flick is sure to please superhero fans of all ages.

#5: King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard Release Date: February 7, 2017

Young adult fiction writer Victoria Aveyard is releasing another novel in the hit Red Queen series this month. King’s Cage is the third book in the series to be written by the young American author from Massachusetts, and acts as the follow-up to 2016’s hit novel Glass Sword. The story follows Mare Barrow, otherwise known as the Lightning Girl, but this time around Barrow’s spark has disappeared leaving her a powerless and living with inner demons. With the first in the series winning the Goodreads Choice Award, the latest instalment is sure to be nothing short of magnificent.

#4: “Powerless” - Season 1 Release Date: February 2, 2017

The first sitcom set within the DC universe, Powerless was developed for NBC by Ben Queen and stars High School Musical’s Vanessa Hudgens, Community’s Danny Pudi, and Firefly’s Alan Tudyk. Are you ever watching a superhero movie and wondering what life is like for those people without powers. “Powerless” has got some of those answers for you, as the new sitcom takes place at Wayne Security, a company that specializes in protecting against collateral damage from destructive heroes. It’s got a fun concept, now we just can’t wait to see if this stellar cast can pull off something super. #3: “Super Bowl LI Halftime Show” Release Date: February 5, 2017

Whether you care about football or not, it’s hard to deny that the halftime show never fails to make jaws drop, as millions of people around the world tune in to watch the biggest artists strut their stuff. In the past, everyone from Beyonce and Coldplay to Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson have dazzled us. This year, American pop singer Lady Gaga is headlining the Houston, Texas event. An incredible singer and performer, this year’s show is sure to be a spectacle. Here’s hoping she belts out some memorable throwbacks like “Poker Face”.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day comes the sequel to the erotic romance film, Fifty Shades of Grey. Fifty Shades Darker sees Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan reprising their roles as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, respectively. Directed by James Foley and based on the novel of the same name by British author E. L. James, the latest flick in the series sees Anastasia trying to move on from her relationship with Christian only to enter back into it, this time on her own terms. Though things seem to be going better than ever, Christian’s past comes back to haunt him. The movie may just live up to its dark title after all. Awards season is here! While the Golden Globes were certainly enjoyable last month, and the biggest awards show in music, the Grammys is only a few weeks away, there’s just nothing quite like the Academy Awards. The holy grail of awards show, the Oscars honour the best in film from the past year. And oh what a year it’s been for the silver screen. From the critically acclaimed musical, La La Land to the hit drama Moonlight, the Academy is going to have a tough time choosing this year’s winners. In addition to finding out the winners, the Oscars features stunning red carpet fashion and what is sure to be a hilarious opening monologue from host Jimmy Kimmel.
