Top 10 Disney Channel Music Videos From Your Childhood
VOICE OVER: Phoebe de Jeu WRITTEN BY: Emily Blair
Time to go back with the Disney Channel music videos from your childhood. Our countdown includes "The Climb," "Rush," "Cheetah Sisters," and more!

#10: “Starstruck” (2010) Sterling Knight

To promote the upcoming Disney Channel original movie of the same name, this music video from Sterling Knight was released and played frequently on the channel. Knight performs in the video as his character in the film, pop star Christopher Wilde. This was also the only song from the movie that used Knight’s actual voice, as he was cast so late in the production process that the other songs were recorded by a different artist. “Starstruck” was Sterling Knight’s first solo music video, and it also featured an appearance from his fellow “Sonny with A Chance” co-star Brandon Mychal Smith.

#9: “The Climb” (2009) Miley Cyrus

Top 10 2000s Music Videos That Defined Our Childhood

This song was featured in “Hannah Montana: The Movie” and was a favorite of many fans out of all the songs in the film. The video for this power ballad alternates between clips of Cyrus doing things like fittingly climbing a mountain and clips from the movie, which premiered a few months after the music video. “The Climb” was and still remains one of Cyrus’ best songs, but the differences from this track and her earlier, non-Hannah Montana-related video for “7 Things” (xref) show her versatility as an artist. Of course, “The Climb” undoubtedly served to stir up excitement for her upcoming movie that fans everywhere couldn’t wait to see in theaters.

#8: “Lovebug” (2008) Jonas Brothers

This music video premiered on Disney Channel after much build up and excitement, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Tweens everywhere swooned at the sight of the Jonas Brothers dressed up in fashion from the ‘40s and ‘50s in a video that Kevin Jonas once said was influenced by The Notebook. The memorable video depicts a love story between a woman and a sailor about to go to war. It was a unique video for Disney Channel due to it being a period piece, but it had a lovely story and was well received by fans. After all, who doesn’t love the Jonas Brothers?

#7: “Rush” (2005) Aly & AJ

Also in:

Top 10 Rush Songs

This song was featured in the movie Twitches starring Tia and Tamera Mowry, and actually has two different music videos. Disney Channel fans likely remember the video that showed Aly and AJ performing the song in concert and included clips from the Halloween flick, which played on the channel to promote the film’s premiere. However, fans of Aly & AJ might remember a different video that was released in 2006 that showed the sisters at different locations, including a swimming spot in Hawaii. The creation of a second video shows how popular the song was, and undoubtedly no matter which video you saw, you’ll remember this classic tune.

#6: “I Can’t Wait” (2002) Hilary Duff

Top 10 Underappreciated Disney Channel Original Movie Songs

This video was one of the earliest Disney Channel music videos, and it was Hilary Duff’s first ever music video. Duff’s song was recorded for the soundtrack to Lizzie McGuire, but what many fans might not realize is that it’s actually a cover. The original song is by Australian singer Brooke McClymont, and came out just a few months before Hilary Duff covered it. Both singers perform the song beautifully, but Duff’s cover is a real nostalgic throwback to the early days of Disney Channel. It brings back great memories of a fantastic show from childhood, and we can’t help but sing along when it plays.

#5: “La La Land” (2008) Demi Lovato

Top 10 Best Demi Lovato Music Videos

Before there was the Oscar-winning movie-musical, Disney Channel fans knew “La La Land” as a catchy Demi Lovato song. The “Sonny With A Chance” star released this music video featuring her fellow co-stars to promote their then-upcoming show, which closely related to the themes of the music video. Lovato’s character in the video struggles to fit in with the Hollywood crowd, much like her character in “Sonny With A Chance”. The song was co-written by the Jonas Brothers, who also provided backup vocals and guitar for the recording. It’s an upbeat and fun number with a great message that undoubtedly resonated with many young girls who were inspired by Lovato to be themselves and not follow the crowd.

#4: “Nobody’s Perfect” (2007) Hannah Montana

Also in:

Top 10 Best Selena Gomez Music Videos

You knew you were in for a good time when you heard these iconic opening lyrics during a Disney Channel commercial break. It’s a pretty simple music video, as it’s just a recording of Miley Cyrus singing the song as Hannah Montana at a concert, but the outfit, wig, and dancing are what make it so memorable and iconic. Footage from the video can also be seen in a season two episode of “Hannah Montana”, but diehard Hannah Montana fans were certainly happy to watch the video anytime it aired on the channel. Plus, the song’s lyrics contained a really positive and important message for young kids to hear: don’t worry too much about making mistakes.

#3: “Cheetah Sisters” (2004) The Cheetah Girls

Also in:

Top 10 Best Cheetah Girls Songs

This song was the anthem of every girls night for kids in the early 2000s, and totally reminds us of sleepovers with our best friends. The music video premiered on Disney Channel in 2004 and includes clips from the previously released movie, “The Cheetah Girls”. Watching this video totally made us want to be Cheetah Girls, but we also would have settled for owning their iconic outfits instead. Even today, the song holds up with its message that stresses the importance and power of strong female friendships. So, it’s very likely those of us who jammed out to this song in 2004 are still jamming today.

#2: “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” (2005) Disney Channel Circle of Stars

Top 20 Most Romantic Music Videos of All Time

This star-studded cover of a classic “Cinderella” song featured celebrities from all across Disney Channel’s shows, including “Phil of the Future”, “That’s So Raven”, and “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody”. For the young Disney Channel fans of 2005, seeing all your favorite stars singing together in the same room was truly a cultural reset - much like the music video for the musical group’s earlier cover of “Circle of Life” probably was too. Rewatching“A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” today, it’s crazy to see how young Dylan and Cole Sprouse were, especially after seeing Cole on “Riverdale”. It’s hard to pick a favorite out of all the talented singers in this cover, but honestly this song wouldn’t be the same without Raven Symoné’s stunning solo. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. “Make a Wave” (2010), Demi Lovato & Joe Jonas A Collab from “Camp Rock” Stars to Help Save the Environment “Something to Dance For / TTYLXOX” (2012), Zendaya & Bella Thorne A Mashup from Two Popular Disney Dancers “Sneakernight” (2008), Vanessa Hudgens A Favorite of “High School Musical” Fans “Fallin’ Down” (2009), Selena Gomez & the Scene This “Wizards of Waverly Place” Star’s First Music Video “Ready or Not” (2012), Bridgit Mendler A Fun, Catchy Song from “Good Luck Charlie”’s Teddy Duncan

#1: “Send It On” (2009) Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato & Selena Gomez

Okay, the Disney Channel Circle of Stars walked so Disney’s Friends for Change could run. The charity project is a win-win, as fans of these huge Disney stars get to hear them perform together on original songs, and the project raises money and awareness for environmental issues. “Send It On” was the song that started it all, and it featured some of the biggest stars on the channel in 2009. The lyrics promoted a message of doing your part in taking care of the environment. When sharing their thoughts on the pop tune, the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato seemed to all share the sentiment that it was for a great cause that they really believed in.
