Have you ever been out in public when a friend of your parents comes over to talk to you as if you two are the best of friends? Sure, it’s awkward and embarrassing, but doesn’t typically result in you threatening to punch them in the face. Unless of course they’re about to blow your cover on a police assignment to identify a high school drug dealer. While out at a shoe store, not only does Jonah Hill’s character push his mom’s friend Phyllis into a pile of shoeboxes; he also accuses her of sexual harassment while his friends stand by in shock. And he really sells it. But honestly, he had no other choice.
#9: Sample Sale “Confessions of a Shopaholic” (2009)
Based on Sophie Kinsella’s book series of the same name, the film follows Rebecca Bloomwood – played by Isla Fisher – a journalist who is, you guessed it, a shopaholic. In this chaotic scene, we see that she is far from the only woman obsessed with shopping. At a sample sale, Rebecca unsuccessfully tries to talk herself out of buying a pair of designer boots, only to end up wrestling over them with another shopper. This scene is both funny and eye opening because many viewers are likely to ask themselves, “Am I like that?” If the answer is “yes,” you may want to seek help…

Josh Baskin is living out his childhood fantasies, eating junk, watching violent movies and going on a toy store shopping spree. While there, he bumps into his boss, and thanks to his childlike zest for life and ability to play the piano with his feet, he earns himself a promotion. Although the real FAO Schwarz closed down in 2015 after 153 years, the memory of Tom Hanks dancing on an oversized piano will forever remain in our hearts.

When their parents announce they’re selling the girls’ childhood home, the two come together to throw one last rager with all their old high school friends. This scene, where the sisters go dress shopping for the occasion, highlights the differences between them. It also proves that only Tina Fey can pull off wearing a dress backwards, that the Play-Doh fun factory look is fierce and that “either/and” is a thing. It also demonstrates the sheer comedic genius that is ‘Tamy.’
#6: Gift Wrapped “Love Actually” (2003)
In what is arguably the funniest scene in the movie, Harry – played by Alan Rickman – attempts to surreptitiously purchase a Christmas present for his flirtatious assistant without his wife finding out. His plans are temporarily thwarted, however, by Rowan Atkinson, who plays the jewelry counter clerk. You see, he insists that the necklace be gift-wrapped. Actually, it’s so much more than gift-wrap. Harry begins to grow impatient when the process becomes unnecessarily extravagant, fearing that his wife will catch him. And thanks to Mr. Bean’s many added flourishes, we’re both cringing and laughing the whole time.
#5: Mambuza Bongo Guy “The Hot Chick” (2002)
This movie stars Rob Schneider and was produced by Happy Madison Productions. So it’s no surprise that when Rachel McAdams’ character comes across the pair of earrings that will cause her to switch bodies with a criminal played by Schneider, we’re interrupted by a very high Adam Sandler playing the bongos in the corner of the shop. Even though his screen time in the film is minimal, Sandler manages to steal every scene he’s in. Plus, it just wouldn’t be right if Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider didn’t make a cameo in each other’s movies.

In this ‘90s classic, Julia Roberts, queen of the romantic comedy, plays a prostitute with a heart of gold. After befriending a businessman who offers to pay her to accompany him to a slew of social events, she goes shopping on LA’s famous Rodeo Drive where she’s refused service by two snobbish saleswomen, who – we can only assume – are judging her based on her supposedly improper and overtly sexual attire. Anyone who’s ever felt judged or mistreated for the way they look, whether because of race, gender, or just the clothes on their back, can appreciate Roberts’ character returning to the store after a huge shopping spree to rub it in the faces of the ignorant saleswomen.

From Melissa McCarthy hiking up her dress around a sink to bride-to-be Maya Rudolph squatting with resignation in the middle of the street in a wedding dress, this iconic shopping scene will not soon be forgotten.
