10 Movie Actors BANISHED to TV

Bust out the therapists and the tranquilizers; it’s about to get raw. Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’re counting down our picks for the top ten hot-headed actors. For this list, we’re calling out those Hollywood hot-heads who are prone to meltdowns, lash-out and paparazzi smack downs in real life.

#10: Charlie Sheen

Good Luck Charlie Cast: Where Are They Now?

Few actors go through bitter, public divorces with television studios. Then again, most actors aren’t “total bitchin’ rock-stars from Mars.” Charlie Sheen has specialized in doing whatever the hell he wants throughout his entire career, starting with roles as young, indignant men in films like “Platoon” and “Wall Street.” However, he was forced to rebuild a career in “Anger Management” after his winning ways temporarily derailed his television domination.

#9: Sean Penn

We’d hate to see him around someone he hates. Sean Penn’s steel exterior is the thing nightmares are made of. With harsh public condemnations of the Bush administration and the Tea Party, his political leanings have become as intense as his movie appearances. When he’s actually working, the man is pure dynamite, tearing down the screen in classics like “At Close Range” and “Mystic River.”

#8: Alec Baldwin

Baldwin’s a Hollywood veteran, well-known for his “30 Rock” role and a rather un-PC Twitter account. Though working frequently in comedy, he’s given blistering performances over the years, regularly dressing down his subordinates at the real estate office or the casino. Nowadays, the film roles may’ve lightened, but Alec keeps all of Hollywood alert with weekly assaults on paparazzi and even the occasional airplane meltdown.

#7: Marlon Brando

Marlon Brando’s hotheaded onscreen characters not only ushered in ‘50s’ rebellion, they also led to innumerable headaches for studios. As his star-power increased, he only became more aggressive and unpredictable, plaguing memorable films with his lack of preparation. He also famously made waves at the Oscars, sending a Native American to refuse his award. Simply put, Brando refused to conform to the Hollywood system.

#6: Quentin Tarantino

He’s living proof that directors can be as outright insane as their stars. Ever since his dramatic display of distaste for a dead body in “Pulp Fiction,” Tarantino has been reliable for outrageous cameo after outrageous cameo. Toss in his TV interviews, where he regularly goes Superfly T.N.T., and it’s easy to understand how this man conceived Jules Winnfield. Be it onscreen or off, Tarantino erupts like few others in Hollywood.

#5: Russell Crowe

For a little bit of unnecessary violence, you can always count on Russell Crowe. He built an award-winning career in the late-‘90s with violent roles in “Gladiator” and “L.A. Confidential.” However, it didn’t take long for his personal life to start resembling a deleted scene from his films. His numerous brawls peaked with a memorable arrest after attacking a concierge with a telephone. Truly innovative prop work!

#4: Klaus Kinski

Every day Klaus Kinski went to work, it was war. With his co-workers. The tales of his on-set meltdowns are part of film lore. His relationship with Werner Herzog was testy at times, but produced some of the greatest epics ever seen. Kinski also dabbled in plenty of low-budget fare, but his trademark psychosis always raised the material above simple blood and guts, and kept everyone on their toes.

#3: Nicolas Cage

Sure, Nic’s a world-renowned actor and Oscar winner, but it’s his gift for injecting the mundane things in life with absolute fury that defines him. Need some spice in your ABCs? How about a violent confrontation with a clothes hanger? He can even redefine the simple act of speaking. No matter the necessity, Cage is guaranteed to bring the heat to each and every one of his scenes.

#2: Christian Bale

Bale has had plenty of scorching encounters during his career, be they with The Joker or “Terminator Salvation” crewmembers. His “American Psycho” performance set new levels in ruthlessness for serial killers, and showcased his fine form with a chainsaw. He turned the Caped Crusader into a more aggressive avenger. But whatever you do, please don’t walk onto his set. Before we unveil our number one pick, here are a few honorable mentions: - Edward Norton - William Shatner - Al Pacino - Arnold Schwarzenegger

#1: Mel Gibson

Top 10 Actors Who Were Fired from Hit TV Shows

In the annals of Hollywood history, few actors have been as unabashedly reckless as Mel. Legendary characters like “Lethal Weapon”’s Martin Riggs, “Mad Max,” and William Wallace share a suicidal drive for blood and revenge that brings Gibson to the brink of death more than many action stars. However, while the cameras do stop, Gibson never does – and his acid tongue has offended nearly every demographic around the world. Do you agree with the list?
