You wouldn't hit a lady, wouldya?… or maybe you would. Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we count down our picks for the Top 10 Male vs. Female Movie Fights. For this list, we’re taking a look at most skillfully choreographed brawls between members of the opposite sex. As some of these are important, climactic battles, a SPOILER ALERT is probably in order.

#10: John McClane vs. Mai Linh “Live Free or Die Hard” (2007)

While Mai is only a henchwoman, she actually proves herself even more interesting and badass than the big bad in “Live Free or Die Hard,” acting as a worthy opponent for John McClane in the film’s best fight sequence. She gives the celebrated action hero a run for his money with her deadly fists. As skillful as her kung fu is, though, nothing is more effective than plowing somebody down with a car. While that miraculously doesn’t kill her, falling down an elevator shaft and blowing up certainly does.

#9: Batman vs. Catwoman “Batman Returns” (1992)

Also in:

Top 10 Batman Fights

Catwoman sure manages to introduce herself to Batman and the Penguin with a bang, and the tension is palpable as the Bat and the Cat face off for the first time. Luring her enemy to a rooftop to make things even more interesting, Catwoman shows off her fancy whip-work, while making sure to play up her sexuality in order to get the upper claw. Chivalry proves to be one of Batman’s weaknesses, though, she the wily feline makes him think twice about a member of the fairer sex. But that’s a mistake he doesn’t make twice.

#8: Kano vs. Sonya Blade “Mortal Kombat” (1995)

The “Mortal Kombat” video games taught a generation of young boys that women can kick just as much ass as men. In the 1995 film adaptation, Sonya Blade vows to take down crime lord Kano, who killed her partner. Sonya gets her revenge when she faces the killer Aussie in the ring. Their brawl may not have any of the blood Sega Genesis owners were used to, but seeing these two archenemies go head to head on the big screen proved pretty cool nonetheless – with an epic neck break fatality to boot.

#7: Morton Schmidt vs. Mercedes “22 Jump Street” (2014)

Mercedes is such a stuck-up bitch that you can’t help but want to punch her. Schmidt is of course too much of a gentleman to hit a lady, but Mercedes gives him permission in this hilarious fight from “22 Jump Street.” While the undercover cop feels uncomfortable striking a girl, the circumstances get even more awkward when the two almost end up locking lips. The fistfight is briefly put on hold to clear the air of any misinterpreted sexual tension. But once that’s out of the way, the two resume their epic showdown.

#6: Virgil vs. Alabama Whitman “True Romance” (1993)

The buildup packs a powerful punch in this tense confrontation from “True Romance.” Entering her motel room, Alabama finds Vigil casually waiting for her with a shotgun. He interrogates her regarding the location of his boss’ stolen coke and becomes physical when he doesn’t get any answers. Although it appears Virgil has the upper hand, he underestimates what Alabama is capable of. The two ruthlessly beat each other to bloody pulps using whatever they can get their hands on. With a lighter and some hairspray, Alabama upsets the balance and comes out victorious.

#5: T-850 vs. T-X “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines” (2003)

Also in:

Top 20 Best MCU Fights

The T-X is faster, more powerful, and more intelligent than her predecessors, but that doesn’t mean Arnie’s T-850 is going down without a fight. When the T-X is sent back to wipe out the Human Resistance, the two duke it out in a bathroom battle that mixes great action with suspense and subtle humor. It further puts its environment to effective use as the opponents burst through mirrors and charge through stalls. As mighty as the T-850 is, the T-X’s flexibility and flamethrower gives her the advantage. If only these two could get along, they’d make the ultimate power couple.

#4: Wolverine vs. Mystique “X-Men” (2000)

Also in:

Top 10 Actors Who Should Become The New Wolverine

As we see demonstrated again later in the series when he takes on Lady Deathstrike, Wolverine seems to have no qualms about fighting a woman – especially, as is the case in this entry, when she can take on the form of a man. Using her shape shifting abilities, Mystique is able to mirror Wolverine perfectly in this skillfully shot fight from the original “X-Men.” Mystique eventually reverts back to her normal form, as we’ve already established that there can only be one Wolverine. Knowing how persistent and crafty his foe is, though, Wolverine is able to see and smell right through her next disguise.

#3: Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin vs. Gazelle “Kingsman: The Secret Service” (2014)

Also in:

Who Should Gary Oldman Play in the MCU? - Mojo Talks

“Kingsman” returns to the spirit of old school spy thrillers, but director Matthew Vaughn managed to inject it with the same stylish, over-the-top violence he brought to “Kick-Ass.” This masterful scene finds up-and-coming Kingsman Eggsy challenging Gazelle, a henchwoman with a set of prosthetic legs to die for. The sequence incorporates everything you could want in a fight: slow mo, shattered glass, gunplay, ingenious choreography, and post-disco music. Gazelle comes close to ripping Eggsy a new one several times, but it turns out he has an ace up his sleeve… well, up his shoe.

#2: John Smith vs. Jane Smith “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” (2005)

Also in:

Top 10 Unforgettable Film Scores by John Williams

As tempting as it is to make a joke about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s marriage, we’re just going to judge this fight from “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” on its own merits. With that said, this is an exceptional battle of the sexes as two spouses sort through their marital troubles with their fists and bullets instead of their words. Once their covers are blown, their house becomes a warzone. When neither can deliver the final shot, however, they tear the house apart in a different fashion. Funny, sexy, and action-packed, it’s everything a male versus female fight should be. Before we get to our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions: - Mitch Hiller vs. Slim Hiller “Enough” (2002) - Ron Burgundy vs. Veronica Corningstone “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” (2004) - Scott Pilgrim vs. Roxanne ‘Roxy’ Richter “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” (2010) - Hawkeye vs. Black Widow “The Avengers” (2012)

#1: Douglas Quaid vs. Lori Quaid “Total Recall” (1990)

Also in:

Michael Douglas Bio: From Romancing The Stone To Wall Street

After taking a trip to Rekall – a business that implants the memory of a vacation in your brain so you don’t actually have to take one – everything Douglas Quaid thought he knew is called into question. He can’t trust anyone – not even his so-called wife. When Lori turns on Quaid, he quickly finds that the honeymoon is over. Actually, the honeymoon never even happened; the whole marriage was a false memory, which our hero learns following a steamy domestic feud. The truth comes as a major blow to Quaid, but Lori takes an even bigger blow to the head when they face off again later. Consider that a divorce. Do you agree with our list?
