The light of day sure can put a new spin on things. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’re counting down our picks for Top 10 Morning After Scenes in Movies. For this list, we’re looking at the most memorable and entertaining big screen scenes that take place after a wild night. While sex can enter the equation, it doesn’t have to. The sequence in question also doesn’t need to take place immediately after waking up. The only necessity is that it takes place in the early hours. Please be advised, the following contains explicit content and is intended for mature audiences only. We will be talking about the plot of the films on our list as well, so this is your spoiler alert.

#10: Waking Up Alone “American Pie” (1999)

When a group of high school seniors make a pact to lose their virginity before they graduate, everything leads up to Prom. After they realize their plan was silly to begin with, all of them manage to seal the deal at a massive after party. The result is four morning after scenes that follow in quick succession. Oz and Kevin wake up with women they love, although that was a little too typical. Finch’s dalliance with Stifler’s mom ending in a hilarious discovery is great, but it’s Jim waking up alone after a crazy night that takes the cake… or the pie, in this case.

#9: Zero Obligations, Some Drama “Old School” (2003)

After Mitch moves into a house near the campus of a university and his friends throw an absolute rager, he wakes up feeling satisfied… until he notices an underwear clad woman. Anxious about the implications, he fumbles nervously to explain he doesn’t want a relationship before she laughs him off and leaves. Of course, the information that comes later that she is the much, much younger daughter of his boss could put a wrinkle into things, but all is well that ends well.

#8: You Make My Dreams Come True “(500) Days of Summer” (2009)

When you first become involved with a new love, your mood is likely to improve. When the two of you get busy for the first time, however, the world can feel just that much brighter. Watching Tom being congratulated and perfectly personifying that delight until the scene breaks out into an all-dance sequence is arguably the most memorable moment of this film. Set to a Hall & Oates tune, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s obvious dance skills impress - and by the time an animated bird appears, we can’t help but love every second of it.

#7: Secret Keeper “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” (2004)

Veronica Corningstone, as played by Christina Applegate, is a gorgeous woman. And if all indications are true, a magnificent lover. With that in mind, who could really blame Ron Burgundy for wanting to shout the details of their relationship from a mountaintop? Unfortunately for Veronica, all he had is a newsroom and his office... that they both work at. He may be a man who built the Eiffel Tower out of metal and brawn, but he sure isn’t a man of subtlety. He promised tasteful discretion and delivered the opposite – and while she has every right to be furious, this moment is just too funny not to make our list.

#6: Again and Again “50 First Dates” (2004)

Lucy Whitmore lives every day like it’s her birthday… well, her dad’s birthday. Oh, whatever. Injured in a car accident that causes her to forget the prior day’s events whenever she wakes up, Lucy lives a happy, but incomplete, existence until she meets Henry. Falling for one another, their love starts anew on a daily basis and as a result, this film is rife with morning after moments. With so many to choose from, we could have gone for sweet moments like the first time she views Henry’s tape, but it’s the beating she lays on him one morning that had us cringing and laughing at the same time.

#5: Mall Meeting “Superbad” (2007)

Seth and Evan are best friends who they both find themselves in embarrassing situations with the women they desire on one crazy night. Jules can only be described as entirely likeable and way out of Seth’s league. Meanwhile, her friend Becca is a perfect match for Evan, but her drunken antics make things awkward. We’re left wondering if they are destined to part ways until they run into each other the next morning and despite it all, reconnect. In many films, this all could have come off as the typical Hollywood ending, but if you’re like us, you really enjoyed this tender moment.

#4: Butt & Breakfast "Knocked Up” (2007)

Seth Rogen is a movie star who we’re certain has no issues with his intended romantic conquests, despite not exactly being a heartthrob. Katherine Heigl is a traditional beauty that likely has a lot of options. That’s why when she walks in on Seth’s character, Ben, still in her bed after a drunken night and baring his bare butt to the world, it’s just that much more amusing. This is followed up by the pair getting breakfast together, during which they realize they are from very different worlds. While she leaves happy to be rid of him, h leaves upset that she’s gone. Little do they know this is just the beginning of their relationship.

#3: Splatter “Trainspotting” (1996)

Things are about to get gross. The other characters on our list would likely look at the events Spud finds himself in with awe. After ceasing heroin use, Spud goes home with a woman he met at a bar where he had spent the night. Waking up alone in her bed surrounded by his own excrement, which is a side effect of heroin withdrawal, his attempt at hiding the evidence couldn’t go worse. As this scene ultimately ends with the sheets’ contents being flung at his new companion and her family’s faces, we doubt few, if anyone, could keep their breakfast down after that.

#2: You Slept Over? “Bridesmaids” (2011)

Top 10 Hilarious Workout Scenes in Movies

Part of the reason this movie is so popular is that it allows women to get down and dirty while still getting loads of laughs, and this extended cameo by Jon Hamm and the way he and his lover, played by Kristen Wiig, is a prime example of its hilarity. Waking up early in order to get the look she wants, Wiig’s Annie crawls back into bed in an attempt to pretend her pretty look is all-natural… only for her plans to go awry when she’s quickly asked to leave. The blunt efficiency with which he sees her off while effortlessly retaining her as a sex buddy is a marvel to watch. That man is just a smooth criminal. Before we reveal our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. Wow, Just Wow “Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas” (1998) Mixed Emotions “When Harry Met Sally…” (1989) Walk of Shame “22 Jump Street” (2014) Misfire “Me, Myself & Irene” (2000)

#1: Chicken, Tiger & Glare, Oh My “The Hangover” (2009)

The first of three films in a franchise that has slowly declined in popularity and success, it’s easy to forget just how well crafted this scene truly is. After having a few drinks on a Vegas rooftop, we immediately cut to the Wolf Pack waking up in a destroyed hotel room among livestock and with no idea what happened to them. For us, the best part of all the chaos is all of the clues to the previous night’s events that can be found around them. Although strikingly similar moments took place in the following films, by then, these ‘morning after’ scenes had become tedious, poor knockoffs of the original, so let’s just remember the Wolfpack as they were, shall we? Do you agree with our list? What’s your favorite morning after scene? For more eye opening 10s published daily, be sure to subscribe to Watchmojo.com.
